im getting a message on a alienware m15 SAYING out of range sensors even after dell replaced the motherboard now don't know what to do since is out of warranty but my HPOMEN BEATS IT.
Dell should be ashamed of themselves for how they built the thermal heating aspect (or lack thereof) for most of they're Alienware series gaming laptops. I have the 2019 M17 R2 edition and I honestly love it...EXCEPT FOR IT'S HEATING ISSUES!! I applied this solution 4 yrs. ago when I first got my Alienware, but I shouldn't have to "Dell"!! It was only AFTER they received hundreds maybe thousands of complaints and only after they're Alienware sales started taking a hit did they go on Dell Support to explain a couple things a person could do to lower the heating issue. But ultimately saying that specific Alienware laptops (mine included) were made to handle temps. of 96-100 degrees no problem and that it's perfectly normal! Lmfao. What a joke! Come to find out, a guy who formally worked for Dell in some capacity went on Twitter, Reddit as well as Dell's Community Forum to put the truth out that it was in fact a manufacturing flaw that got overlooked and was never addressed afterwards either. Even to this day Dell has no recall issued or solution out there offering to fix this issue. They've moved on to other builds and could care less. In my case, I had to lower my Max. Processor State to 90% and still cannot run my power mode at Best Performance which let's my CPU open up to 4.35 GHz as it should be able to right? Nope...I have to switch it to Better Performance while online gaming, which caps my CPU to 2.49 GHz and essentially killing any Turbo feature that many Intel processors are built with. Sure I can still play no problem and my FPS are still around 115-120 while playing Call of Booty Duty Warzone and close to those numbers playin' MW2/WZ2.0 and yes my temps are down from 98/100 degrees religiously to 65/75 degrees... BUT IT'S NOT THE POINT! I cannot open up the gates to this beast of mine and let it rip at full speed as I should be able to because some dumm'assez at Dell didn't take the time or make the necessary fixes to lower the temps when testing these Alienware laptops at maximum power. So repasting the cpu & gpu are a must if you wanna open these things up...but even with that done you better invest in a good multi-fan USB cooling pad & blast that fool at max fan speed. Forealz tho. Especially if you don't wanna burn your cpu up & kill your laptop! You should've seen the factory thermal paste job these lames at Dell did on my Alienware. Smh. They put wayyyyy too much on both cpu and gpu to where it had oozed out all around both components...not just a little area either. Straight up overkill on the amount! I was a little shocked I'm not even gunna lie guys...but given the heating issues THEY OBVIOUSLY KNEW ABOUT...I'm not even surprised! I totally get why they applied so much paste. Because they new they f_cked up and that company...is just a disgrace !! I'm out.....PEACE.
I recently bought an omen 15 gaming laptop. I bought it to compliment my gaming desktop and for my cyber security studies. I chose it over the alienware for a lot of reasons. First being build quality of the omen is just as good as the alienware. Second price point. I have an alienware and honestly the cost isn't worth it. Anyhow, I had temp issues. I didn't want to undervolt it. Tradition education has imprinted two ideas in my head. #1 never over clock, and #2 never undervolt. I didn't want to go with your solution on cuts down performance 10 percent. Here is how I fixed the high heat. I repasted cpu and bought rubber stoppers you put on the bottom of canes. I use them to prop up the back of the latop for better air flow. Before the repaste I was sitting at 84 to 85 cpu temp and 70 to lower 80s for gpu After the repaste and propping up the back of the laptop, under full load the cpu maxes out at 75 and the gpu hovers around 65. Those are great temps for such a compact machine.
Wow that's great... Yeah I have to re paste my heat sink... But don't wanna open the machine or break something... So for now this is temporary solution.. May be in future I will do...
@@rehanhanar your solution does help. With the cpu running at a lower clock speed, the cpu creates less heat. Even if you lift the back of your laptop an inch or so, it will help a ton with temps.
Thank you very much, I have a 17 inch Alienware laptop I bought in 2009. It shuts down after about 20 minutes of normal use, not even gaming. I always suspected it was a heat issue. I have it sitting on a shelf in a closet. I will dig it out and try your fixes. I would like to put Windows XP on it and use it for old games that do not work on windows 10.
Man that was so simple, genius. This fixed my thermal issues. Obviously performance is degraded, but at least am sure to avoid heat damage now. Thanks a lot.
Software can't change anything. There is a severe mistake made by manager in DELL who decided to make cheapest cooling solution as possible: i7-9750 have a dry zone because of a bad contact
Which kind of alienware do you have? I have the m15 r4 with rtx 3070 and this chassis has exhaust vents above the keyboard, not speakers. I am very concerned that the screen mighr get damaged if I game with the screen closed
Ok, this is crazy!!! It totally dropped my Core Temps down from 75-85% to 52% - Thanks a million! I don't play games for I don't really care if it reduces performance a little
If you really want good temp for your laptop put it in ice cold water for a hour while it is running. The laptop will go down to 20c or so and it will stay there.
It always used to go 95 and thermal throttle in 5 mins of gaming... After this solution dropped to 80 to 85° temperature. Reducing the fps reduced the temperature even further to 80° I would recommend you to watch part 2 and part 3 for more temperature reduction
Prefect! Thank you so much, switching to 90% fixed the issue immediately. I'm so glad I didn't have to do anything else to my pc. My performance seems unaffected as far as I can tell :)
Hi, I was checking your poste and was wondering how really effective is this proposition as there has been no more comments. What would be the difference between setting the Performance Mode enabled in BIOS and this? Would you recommend the same settings after repasting with either LQM or other TPastes? Thank you
Thank you for your answer! I only meant that there is no annotated experiences to compare with. How does this compare with using the before mentioned BIOS tweak? @@rehanhanar
@@rehanhanar This is not a fix. At all. This is very minorly handicapping your system to achieve basic functioning (actually below baseline); which it doesn't even do because these problems are more fundamental that what you're addressing. Limiting fps or reducing cpu use a tiny bit does not solve the throttling, the stuttering, the gpu power limit flag etc etc. Further as someone that's had four of the same alienware with the 1080, the problems with them were with heatsink installation, poor thermal padding contact, badly applied dried out toothpaste like thermal paste and locked bios settings. So yeah. If you need to knock a couple of degrees off your system these are some of the first simple things to try. Doesn't do what it says on the tin though.
