Kind of. I’m not impressed by someone who uses bottled dressing and off the shelf rub. Even I, a good home cook but not a video maker, make my own rub using sugar (brown or white or coconut or…), paprika, Chile powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper and whatever my creative mind come up with. Marinade the same way.
Something I appreciate about Malcom's videos is that he doesn't push his own products. He uses them, but never says "Use my rub", he always says "I am using my rub, but use your favorite rub." And this is why I buy his products. He is out there to show us how to cook BBQ because he is passionate about BBQ. He is not levering it to sell his products.
Agreed, but I will tell you, “the bbq rub” is the only premixed seasoning blend that I have on hand at all times. It serves as a great base for chicken. Every other bottle of seasoning I’ve purchased to taste: meat church, uncle Chris’, etc hasn’t made it into my pantry as a staple. Generally, I like to make my own rubs rather than using premixed bottles, but like I said, “the bbq rub” is a great base. Try it at least once!
I was looking for this comment. I 100% agree. My local BBQ shop owner makes his own bbq sauce that is absolutely fantastic. He didn't know that I knew that he made his own bbq sauce. His BBQ sauce sits on the shelf like everyone else's. I asked him what bbq he could recommend to me. I want to say he didn't get to his BBQ sauce until the 3rd or 4th option. Not once saying it was his BBQ sauce or why I should buy it. I of course bought his as I planned on getting a few bottles anyway on top of another sauce I was looking for. It was never a test but I can 100% say with confidence that I would trust his opinion on what I need for my BBQ needs.
Tried this today for the family on Mother’s Day and as Malcolm says when he takes a bite of something good “Whaaaaaat!” It was delicious! Thanks for making me look like a master chef once again!
Okay, so we just cooked chicjen thighs on the grill for the very first time last weekend. Used to use chicken breast but it would get dried out. Glad we tried it. The family was skeptical lol
I just made this Italian dressing and bbq rub marinate but I'm curious if I can let it sit in the fridge for 24 hours. I don't want the strong vinegar to overpower the chicken.
I remember seeing this girl run into you at some event and you were cooking thighs. She said "what you doing Malc?" and quickly you described cooking boneless chicken thighs and I immediately tried it. Not sure how old that video was - and then a couple years later I saw you on your own channel. You are the BBQ king!
@@thescoggfather OMG I have to tell you - I found it, I found the first time I saw a Malcom video...And I also had a comment in there from 7 years ago th-cam.com/video/dChyt1_eb20/w-d-xo.html
I learned working in a restaurant, specifically when grilling thighs. You crowd the pieces together. So the smoke builds underneath. So in this case. Let the coals settle down. If that heat is too much and you’re feeling you need to keep moving or flipping.
This Italian dressing is completely new for me 🫣. Unfortunately this brand is not available in the Netherlands. I wil find out the ingredients and make it myself. Thanks for sharing
Damn that looks awesome! Great meal for a hot summer night and crazy grocery prices. Add a side of some yellow squash and onions sautéed in butter and a nice cucumber and tomato salad, and it don't get any better than that. WooHoo!!
Malcolm , great recipe & thighs, legs, wing flats/flappers are our fave, we like the dark meat. When my young grand daughters are here I will add some real honey to the sauce, sourwood( not sour) or clover leaf & not that plastic bear honey or any of them that are cut/diluted with karo syrup. Sides, broccoli ( our grand kids fave veggie) & chicken flavored rice , good eats here in Kentucky

Boneless skinless thighs are my favorite. Definitely my go to.
Same here, they’re cheap and very tasty. They’re always a hit at our BBQs
I always cook a few in the nesco and make sandwiches out of them for lunch at work. Way better than bologna or sliced turkey out of a tube!

You just removed all the flavor
Easy to cook
Zesty Italian goes so well with Chicken. Yum!
Been doing this for years
Add ranch and sweet baby Ray's BBQ sauce to the Italian dressing and grill it you can thank me later
Only the real ones know about the italian dressing marinade so good
Especially for hamburgers

OMG that looks amazing. I’m going to try this weekend.
Malcolm will never let us down. His recipes are always 🔥.
They're kinda basic. Seasoning, bbq, more Seasoning, more bbq.... wow!
Italian dressing is absolutely magic on grilled chicken. Malcolm never disappoints.
I don't cook, EVER! But I love this Chefs Character and his Enthusiasm for Great Food.
I love your channel I have learned so much
❤❤❤ I can smell and taste that charred up bbq 🍗 chicken goodness already!!
The Italian dressing works excellent for pork chops on the grill too!
2 parts Italian dressing 2 parts cheap sweet wine 1 part apple cider vinegar. 2.5 days max marinade. Any kind of pork will melt in your mouth.

I’ve been marinating chicken in Italian dressing since the 90’s. It works with roast as well.
