And yeah, as person I like MKBHD, he seems nice when I spoken to him, same for some others, but I started this whole channel because simply put, I NEVER after their reviews knew what the phone could do when it comes to the camera because shots are to simple, they just take the most basic ass shots as possible! Even though at MKBHD they have a huge talent in photography in the form of David I think his name is! Like how do you not see that! And from what i have heard, even used shots of the previous 1 series instead of shots from that sony. Not to mention the lack of using the app as it was suppose to be used! Don't get me wrong Sony have thier issues, even more so with the current one I think because of the camera app, but they just have no idea how to use it! While again having a person like David on their team! USE HIM! It is a real shame to see! Just another youtuber but in the past year or so his reviews have gotten so positive yet so basic I just wonder what's even the point. He just reviews stuff for the sake of reviewing and getting money, not to provide info to the average people. Also yes, the videography in his videos is outstanding but clearly it's not his own doing, he has other guys do it for him. I think the average person wouldn't know that and think he is youtube's Roger Deakins or something. Anyways, let's ignore all that. Let's just say they take photos in the simple auto mode. Well, even my mum takes photos with filters/different styles on her iPhone and even my dad changes the exposure. Idk about Americans but are they so incompetent that MKBHD and others can't provide photos with tweaked exposure and tap to focus if the AF isn't working? This is like the most basic of things and yet they just point and shoot only. Truly mind boggling stuff man. People don't buy phones just to get the least out of it. If the phone has a problem they don't switch to other phones, these reviewers have the luxury of having multiple phones so they can switch but the average person can't. So they try to make up for the faults and try to find fixes. I just don't like how reviewers just sum up all of this as "phones have gotten so good you can't complain, everything's only personal preference or just stylistic differences". I just wonder, if things are so good that people can't complain, why don't they just use an A55 or an iPhone SE? They all act like they know so much and need the best yet they don't use it. Triggers me lol Also, I like the concept of the Sony phones, I just completely hate the execution. They refuse to have proper cooling nor large sensors. Their main sensor in the 1 V is smaller than an IQOO 12. Like bruh. They don't even have variable aperture and their telephoto is as small as Samsung's. I like their processing but imo anyone can just take a Pro Mode shot and either use the less processed photos they get from that mode OR use RAW photos to get far better images on other phones. Like I think the only thing the Xperia properly excels at is videography, and even that advantage is lost if you install some third party apps on a Xiaomi 14 Ultra for example. I think Xperias are overpriced, like why don't Sony and Samsung put their best sensors in their flagships lol, I understand that you like that the Auto mode takes natural shots and the pro mode gives you lots of control but idk man, for 400 dollars less, sure it'd be a masterpiece. But I'd rather get a Vivo X100 Pro and take shots in Pro mode if I want the natural SDR look. They have competent auto mode processing and nice sensors as well. There would be no point in driving a Manual Honda Civic if you can get a Porsche 911 for the same price, imo at least. But anyways, yeah the Xperia is overhated still I'd say. They don't even take into account the extra features, they just gloss over the fact that you can. I just wonder, what's the point of reviewing something if you don't even know what you're doing? If I don't like Pasta or don't understand the point of let's say white sauce on pastas, I'm not gonna review it. Why even bother? Also, WOAH I'd love more content on the X100 Ultra. If it's not too much of a hassle, I'd like a camera deep dive. Like, taking a screen recording of the whole camera app and going down into the nitty gritty, showing some before and after shots of let's say changing the saturation or sharpness sliders or using filters or something. Yes it's a lot of work but it'd be some excellent content due to your photography skills and also informative too. Like the X100 Pro camera review by The Tech Phenomena. Anyways, no one really does deep dives of camera apps like the Oppo Find X7 Ultra has a Master Mode with Hasselblad colors and no one shows it! Like why!? Oh and speaking of, it'd be interesting to see if you can get a hold of an Oppo flagship at some point, I think Oppo is the most balanced and inoffensive Chinese brand, in terms of photography style. I just got it after your review. Camera is far better than my pixel 8 pro. Also, it doesn't have the soft image issue, like Xiaomi 14. I think, sensor matters a lot. Sony lyta rocks!
Hello @debrup954, can you compare the haptics to the P8P? In terms of punchines and if the motor is louder? For example on X12TP it's way louder than base P8, which is bad in quiet room.

Yes, it's good that they are updating the camera. Thanks for showing the clear differences between the two its hard to deny when looking at them side by side. Xiaomi got so much right with the 13 Pro.
I did notice improved consistency over the last couple of months I've used the XM14U, even though yes, changelogs alone aren't that exciting. You can tell Xiaomi does put in the work, and it's great they have a feedback system built right into its native apps. Processing for front camera has also gotten better after turning AI Image Engine for HDR on. It's another one of those hidden things where it's obscured if someone doesn't really explore deep into the settings. However, the results for front camera processing does change depending on whether you tap to focus, or don't. If you just whip out the camera, and take a picture with the default focusing, it'll take the whole scene as the subject.
Thanks for the portrait files you let me see. What it proved to me is any one of these phones delivers images that are of incredible quality. Especially compared to my 5 year old cheap Xiaomi... :) The images may not be as good as those taken with My Fuji X-t4 with a f1.4 lens, but very few of my customers would be able to tell the difference. As a portrait photographer I have to make my subjects look good, confident, with a good facial expression. Nobody cares about the technical stuff we photographers obsess about. Again, thanks a lot for your input. It was very helpful. Now I just need to decide ... Xiomi 14, or 14 Ultra...
There was an update for my Xiaomi 14 a month ago. I don't see anything new and still have issues with lens transitions, contrast and other things. OS version 1.0.13.0.UNCMIXM.
Did they fix the jittering stuttering / lack of stabilization? I saw some videos with super bad jittering and stuttering while walking, night and especially in LOG mode while filming.
I myself haven't had any fogging issues, but I have heard about the issue before, will pin t his, if there are users that have the issue or not, they can reply.
Yes, I experienced it while shooting 4K video in 13°C, mild weather. After like 3 minutes, it started to fog a bit, so I stopped. It sucks, but it hasn't happened while taking pictures only so far.
I've seen this reported quite a lot even to the extent that users said it made the camera unusable. Even drying out with silica gel. Many returned for a full refund and Xiaomi claim this as quite 'normal'. My purchase was stolen by the courier and thankfully Amazon refunded my cost so I still haven't bought one so I can't give personal experience but this issue is one major factor holding me back
I did experience VERY bad fogging with the 14 Ultra, so I refunded my first unit, and ordered a second one. Sadly it also had fogging issues the first day when taking photos on a cool weather, but only the very first day; a week or so later the lens did fog up again during the rain-BUT ONLY when the droplets fell on the lens and stayed there. I'm guessing it has to do with temperature differences and the size of the lens.
Do you report these camera issues to Xiaomi? Your opion, as a content creator, might make a difference... I have no idea why they aren't bringing those new China updates to the global ROM devices.
I am still finding the best scenario situation. Prefer using RAW.along with light room. Although I would say the periscope lens is pretty good considering this is a mobile phone.
I have the Xiaomi 14U & my cameras are no longer working. When I boot up the app, I hear bunch of clicking from camera module & although the app does launch, the EVF just freezes with usually a black screen. I have no idea what is going on, I didn't do anything weird. I have the global version here in US.
I wish I could help you, but I am unsure what the problem could be. Best to ask a shop they can see and test it better. Hope you get it fixed :( That sucks man, I feel your pain on that one!

It's obvious that they updated the camera software, new features appeared, but no mention of it in the change log - which is odd, you would have thought that they would be shouting about it Battery life is the big let down on this thing, coming from an Honor Magic 5 pro is a massive difference.
Coupd you please say sth about the microphone on windy conditions when you make a video (with main cam and front cam)? because in the last test and in other tests the 14 ultra has basically unusable audio, which makes any video useless. but you did not test that after the update. sadly there are so less people which tests audio on video capture (both, main cam and front cam, because often they do not use same mics). Always these camera tests on the chinese smartphones, but no audio tests. Also the vivo x100 ultra is such a phone. good camera, but bad microphone and therefore video capture is uselss. so please always test microphone on video, please.

those who can say something about the update are not on you tube, since they live in China and are the happy owners of the Chinese version. Few purchased a smartphone from China, while the rest bought the global version, which was not updated. This is very strange, because the new vivo, which positions itself exclusively as Chinese, provides more opportunities for global users without restrictions... the deep, incomprehensible jungle of the Chinese soul...

I wouldn't say it's there just yet, images of flowers can still be nicer on something like the 13 pro, but it is muchhhhh closer now, and still slight inconsistancy for portrait mode, and x10 zoom still has a hase to it.
Well, at least they are improving it and it looks like soon they will get there. I am asking as I am thinking switching from 1+12 to Xioami 14 Ultra because of 1 inch camera, still on the fence because of the software though... Is HyperOS in good state now, mate? I only want it to replace some of my compact cameras (I have a new Honor Magic V3) but the short comings that ALL reviewers poin tout of the 14 Ultra just shows Xiaomi just doesn't listen, The Vivo Ultra is so much better but no photography kit & Chinese ROM (so no Android Auto)

@@pablotoluco1 it's poor, compared to Samsung yeah Samsung does better in battery life. I would say with the Xiaomi get about 6 hours of screen time if I take pictures, if I take video's and play games could be about 5 hours or a bit below. If it is normal stuff maybe a bit above that 6 hours of screen on time.

I'm enjoying your content, and like your landscape images done with Xiaomi 14 ultra. I'm a portrait photographer and want to replace my Fuji kit with a good phone camera when I'm traveling. Would you recommend 14 ultra as the best camera phone among the current global version models? Especially for portraits.
mmmm potrait is still a bit hard to rate with Xiaomi, 1 thing you must do is lower the EV, I would say -0.5/0.7 because else it loses details and looks too bright (even though you can edit it decently well) For the 14 Ultra would it be JUST portraits or also other shots? Because I think funny enough... So far my best portrait shot phone has been the Nubia Z60 Ultra, feels the most natural.
@@ThroughJermainesLens I would definitely take some landscape shots and an odd video here and then, but my main interest is portraits. Always travel with 5 kg of Fiji gear and I'm a bit sick of it. I shoot portraits professionally, but I believe that shooting then on a phone camera may not be a disadvantage as the pictures are used on dating apps. And shooting them on phone adds an aura of "authenticity" to the images. But the quality can't be much worse than from a traditional camera. Never considered Nubia. Will binge watch some reviews tomorrow. If you have a link to some portraits you took with Xiaomi or Nubia I would love to have a look.

@@ThroughJermainesLens I realized for myself that when photographing people, 99% of the time I use either 75 mm or 120 mm. I almost never use the main module for this. You're right, portrait lenses are small compared to the competition. At 14 ultra, Xiaomi could have put in something more. But I don’t use artificial blur. Be that as it may, optical rules. ))) I try to photograph large and half-length portraits and choose a location so that the background is further away. Well, I still don’t strive for everything to be blurred into mush. ) It seems to me that a slight blur is enough to separate the portrait from the background. I hope that Xiaomi will put more sensors in the 15 ultra. Well, in general, I’m waiting for all cameras to have inch sensors. )

I'm kinda new with Xiaomi/HpyerOS but is there a way to manually look for updates? I have the 14 ultra global since May but have yet to receive any system updates (I'm on HyperOS 1.0.7)
Mmmm the thing is updates come out in batches for different regions and version, so what you could try is selecting like the UK to get an update, but of course it depends on which batch yours is from, could take a bit longer
@@ThroughJermainesLens I had my region set on the Netherlands and didn't get any update yet beyond HyperOS 1.0.5... but when I changed it to the UK i immediately received the HyperOS 1.0.9 update.. So changing the Region did work here.
@@ThroughJermainesLens Haha ah okay Fellow Dutchy!. :) By the way, do you still have the VIVO x100 Pro/Ultra.. ? I'm in the moment contemplating to get one.. Shooting lots of video in some really dim lighting (Outside in the moonlight for instance) I know that outside the standard video mode Xiaomi 14 Ultra Pro Video modus gives much better results than the standard/night mode. And in Pro Video mode I can go up to ISO 32.000 in 4K, and it is pretty amazing what I can see. (In Pro modus I set auto ISO but manual shutter to 1/24 and than turn up the EV to like + 4.0.. then I switch to Night Video and back into Pro Video mode.. and there (when it is dakr enough, the ISO kicks up all the way to 32.000..! (And shutterspeed can go to 1/8th sec. --No idea if it is a bug, but I actually like it, and when I then turn on Log... I can really see in the dark :) But what I am trying to figure out is if the Vivo x100 Ultra (which has a 4k 30 fps night video function that really pushes the exposure insanely high), if it is actually better? --I know it's only usable in stable (none panning shots), compared to the Xiaomi 32.000 ISO in pro modus which is very usable even with panning shots. And if in Pro video modus the x100 Pro/Ultra actually also can go higher than the 12.800 ISO.. ? Like when setting auto ISO but shutter manually to 1/24 and than turn up the EV to like + 4.0.. --Does the auto ISO then go higher than 12.800 ISO? ... Sorry for the long question, ..but am really trying to figure this one out... before taking the plunge to the x100 Pro/Ultra :) Thx in advance.
They butchered the phone with garbage processing, the hardware itself is one of the best if not the best of any phone ever but it's pointless if you're processing is horrible
I think they have improved a lot. But when it comes to processing, I still prefer it over many others, it approaches it far more natural, not trying to make it too bright nor going for a too much saturation
I would, but the problem is, there are a lot of channels just using pictures of people like me, and making their own video on the back of my work, which well... is not ideal xD
I am looking forward to finding out.... I ordered my 14 Ultra Yesterday. I broke the screen on the 13 Pro and the insurance company said it was beyond economical repair so wrote it off.. I have not been paid for the loss of the phone, long story but never use Assurant for phone insurance! You have been warned. I did try to get my phone back to send to Xiaomi UK 's repair centre SBE but they refused to return it... So I had to dig deep and just buy a new phone and take a chance on the 14 Ultra. So lets see what the new phone can or cannot do once it has been updated.

@@ThroughJermainesLens They have not said if they have or even ever had the phone. The tracking confirmed it arrived but they refuse to answer if they still or ever had it. It could have been repaired but they chose not to and the Insurance claim the 13T Pro is the same or equal to the 13 Pro so refuse to offer an improved offer. I would have taken it to the Xiaomi repair centre myself if I had known they would try to destroy or keep the phone and not repair or offer an equal spec phone.
I respect Xiaomi, but that lens fogging issue, and their lacklustre reaction, is going to haunt them (like Apple's infamous butterfly keyboard issue). A dedicated subreddit topic states this is an existing issue as far back as the 12, so it looks like a design flaw. Make sure your hardware is flawless, then bring me your software updates. I'll have a look at the 15 Ultra when it releases. Fingers crossed.
Xiaomi isn't the only device suffering from this. OnePlus had it. Vivo had it. Some Samsung had it. It's pretty "easy" to solve. Open up the sim card slot, run a few stress tests or benchmarks and also put the phone inside a sealed bag during that time. The trapped humidity inside will evaporate and the fogging will be gone.
They say that Xiaomi 14 camera has a fogging problem, and I wonder what changes have been made in the camera after the last updates, I would be happy if you could reply.
@@satishchandra1904 Vivo tends to be too soft. Samsung... just no, their camera's are poor. I tested Samsung and they aren't good, Edge detection sure maybe, but the shots have no feel at all and look poor. Vivo edge detection is better, but needs to work on keeping details there, skin isn't smooth and it should show that in protraits.

I didn't hate marquess before, I thought he was just "fine". Just another youtuber but in the past year or so his reviews have gotten so positive yet so basic I just wonder what's even the point. He just reviews stuff for the sake of reviewing and getting money, not to provide info to the average people. Also yes, the videography in his videos is outstanding but clearly it's not his own doing, he has other guys do it for him. I think the average person wouldn't know that and think he is youtube's Roger Deakins or something.
Anyways, let's ignore all that. Let's just say they take photos in the simple auto mode. Well, even my mum takes photos with filters/different styles on her iPhone and even my dad changes the exposure. Idk about Americans but are they so incompetent that MKBHD and others can't provide photos with tweaked exposure and tap to focus if the AF isn't working? This is like the most basic of things and yet they just point and shoot only. Truly mind boggling stuff man. People don't buy phones just to get the least out of it. If the phone has a problem they don't switch to other phones, these reviewers have the luxury of having multiple phones so they can switch but the average person can't. So they try to make up for the faults and try to find fixes. I just don't like how reviewers just sum up all of this as "phones have gotten so good you can't complain, everything's only personal preference or just stylistic differences". I just wonder, if things are so good that people can't complain, why don't they just use an A55 or an iPhone SE? They all act like they know so much and need the best yet they don't use it. Triggers me lol
Also, I like the concept of the Sony phones, I just completely hate the execution. They refuse to have proper cooling nor large sensors. Their main sensor in the 1 V is smaller than an IQOO 12. Like bruh. They don't even have variable aperture and their telephoto is as small as Samsung's. I like their processing but imo anyone can just take a Pro Mode shot and either use the less processed photos they get from that mode OR use RAW photos to get far better images on other phones. Like I think the only thing the Xperia properly excels at is videography, and even that advantage is lost if you install some third party apps on a Xiaomi 14 Ultra for example. I think Xperias are overpriced, like why don't Sony and Samsung put their best sensors in their flagships lol, I understand that you like that the Auto mode takes natural shots and the pro mode gives you lots of control but idk man, for 400 dollars less, sure it'd be a masterpiece. But I'd rather get a Vivo X100 Pro and take shots in Pro mode if I want the natural SDR look. They have competent auto mode processing and nice sensors as well. There would be no point in driving a Manual Honda Civic if you can get a Porsche 911 for the same price, imo at least.
But anyways, yeah the Xperia is overhated still I'd say. They don't even take into account the extra features, they just gloss over the fact that you can. I just wonder, what's the point of reviewing something if you don't even know what you're doing? If I don't like Pasta or don't understand the point of let's say white sauce on pastas, I'm not gonna review it. Why even bother? It's like giving my dad a pc with an RTX 4090 and him saying it's nothing crazy cus he only looks at facebook lol but yeah MKBHD has a photographer with him on his team and he doesn't even give out the effort to use him, sad really. People just pile up on Sony and side with marquess. If you're popular/you're confident enough people WILL trust you. TH-cam has shown that to me time and time again for the past decade.
Also, WOAH I'd love more content on the X100 Ultra. If it's not too much of a hassle, I'd like a camera deep dive. Like, taking a screen recording of the whole camera app and going down into the nitty gritty, showing some before and after shots of let's say changing the saturation or sharpness sliders or using filters or something. Yes it's a lot of work but it'd be some excellent content due to your photography skills and also informative too. Like the X100 Pro camera review by The Tech Phenomena. Anyways, no one really does deep dives of camera apps like the Oppo Find X7 Ultra has a Master Mode with Hasselblad colors and no one shows it! Like why!? Oh and speaking of, it'd be interesting to see if you can get a hold of an Oppo flagship at some point, I think Oppo is the most balanced and inoffensive Chinese brand, in terms of photography style. They have overall the best photos imo and their sensors were bonkers till the X100 Ultra came lol.

I did notice improved consistency over the last couple of months I've used the XM14U, even though yes, changelogs alone aren't that exciting. You can tell Xiaomi does put in the work, and it's great they have a feedback system built right into its native apps.
Processing for front camera has also gotten better after turning AI Image Engine for HDR on. It's another one of those hidden things where it's obscured if someone doesn't really explore deep into the settings.
However, the results for front camera processing does change depending on whether you tap to focus, or don't. If you just whip out the camera, and take a picture with the default focusing, it'll take the whole scene as the subject.

Thanks for the portrait files you let me see. What it proved to me is any one of these phones delivers images that are of incredible quality. Especially compared to my 5 year old cheap Xiaomi... :) The images may not be as good as those taken with My Fuji X-t4 with a f1.4 lens, but very few of my customers would be able to tell the difference. As a portrait photographer I have to make my subjects look good, confident, with a good facial expression. Nobody cares about the technical stuff we photographers obsess about. Again, thanks a lot for your input. It was very helpful. Now I just need to decide ... Xiomi 14, or 14 Ultra...

There was an update for my Xiaomi 14 a month ago. I don't see anything new and still have issues with lens transitions, contrast and other things. OS version 1.0.13.0.UNCMIXM.
Did they fix the jittering stuttering / lack of stabilization? I saw some videos with super bad jittering and stuttering while walking, night and especially in LOG mode while filming.
Has anyone faced lens fogging while using in rain? Being a flagship and also IP68, it doesn't look so good on quality side.
I myself haven't had any fogging issues, but I have heard about the issue before, will pin t his, if there are users that have the issue or not, they can reply.
Yes, I experienced it while shooting 4K video in 13°C, mild weather. After like 3 minutes, it started to fog a bit, so I stopped. It sucks, but it hasn't happened while taking pictures only so far.
I've seen this reported quite a lot even to the extent that users said it made the camera unusable. Even drying out with silica gel. Many returned for a full refund and Xiaomi claim this as quite 'normal'.
My purchase was stolen by the courier and thankfully Amazon refunded my cost so I still haven't bought one so I can't give personal experience but this issue is one major factor holding me back
I did experience VERY bad fogging with the 14 Ultra, so I refunded my first unit, and ordered a second one. Sadly it also had fogging issues the first day when taking photos on a cool weather, but only the very first day; a week or so later the lens did fog up again during the rain-BUT ONLY when the droplets fell on the lens and stayed there. I'm guessing it has to do with temperature differences and the size of the lens.

I am still finding the best scenario situation. Prefer using RAW.along with light room. Although I would say the periscope lens is pretty good considering this is a mobile phone.

I have the Xiaomi 14U & my cameras are no longer working. When I boot up the app, I hear bunch of clicking from camera module & although the app does launch, the EVF just freezes with usually a black screen. I have no idea what is going on, I didn't do anything weird. I have the global version here in US.
I wish I could help you, but I am unsure what the problem could be. Best to ask a shop they can see and test it better. Hope you get it fixed :( That sucks man, I feel your pain on that one!

because in the last test and in other tests the 14 ultra has basically unusable audio, which makes any video useless. but you did not test that after the update.
sadly there are so less people which tests audio on video capture (both, main cam and front cam, because often they do not use same mics).
Always these camera tests on the chinese smartphones, but no audio tests. Also the vivo x100 ultra is such a phone. good camera, but bad microphone and therefore video capture is uselss.

I wouldn't say it's there just yet, images of flowers can still be nicer on something like the 13 pro, but it is muchhhhh closer now, and still slight inconsistancy for portrait mode, and x10 zoom still has a hase to it.
Well, at least they are improving it and it looks like soon they will get there.

@@pablotoluco1 it's poor, compared to Samsung yeah Samsung does better in battery life. I would say with the Xiaomi get about 6 hours of screen time if I take pictures, if I take video's and play games could be about 5 hours or a bit below. If it is normal stuff maybe a bit above that 6 hours of screen on time.

I'm enjoying your content, and like your landscape images done with Xiaomi 14 ultra. I'm a portrait photographer and want to replace my Fuji kit with a good phone camera when I'm traveling. Would you recommend 14 ultra as the best camera phone among the current global version models? Especially for portraits.
mmmm potrait is still a bit hard to rate with Xiaomi, 1 thing you must do is lower the EV, I would say -0.5/0.7 because else it loses details and looks too bright (even though you can edit it decently well)
For the 14 Ultra would it be JUST portraits or also other shots? Because I think funny enough... So far my best portrait shot phone has been the Nubia Z60 Ultra, feels the most natural.

@@ThroughJermainesLens I would definitely take some landscape shots and an odd video here and then, but my main interest is portraits. Always travel with 5 kg of Fiji gear and I'm a bit sick of it. I shoot portraits professionally, but I believe that shooting then on a phone camera may not be a disadvantage as the pictures are used on dating apps. And shooting them on phone adds an aura of "authenticity" to the images. But the quality can't be much worse than from a traditional camera. Never considered Nubia. Will binge watch some reviews tomorrow. If you have a link to some portraits you took with Xiaomi or Nubia I would love to have a look.

Oppo I haven't used. Might be coming this month, but unsure. for the point and shoot, I trust the vivo the most, but Xiaomi had the best "photographer" feel.

Fair :D So you would say you prefer not using the portrait mode on the Xiaomi? And leave the sensors doing the work? For such small sensors that is... I mean it could work depending on the scene I guess ^^
@@ThroughJermainesLens I realized for myself that when photographing people, 99% of the time I use either 75 mm or 120 mm. I almost never use the main module for this. You're right, portrait lenses are small compared to the competition. At 14 ultra, Xiaomi could have put in something more. But I don’t use artificial blur. Be that as it may, optical rules. ))) I try to photograph large and half-length portraits and choose a location so that the background is further away. Well, I still don’t strive for everything to be blurred into mush. ) It seems to me that a slight blur is enough to separate the portrait from the background. I hope that Xiaomi will put more sensors in the 15 ultra. Well, in general, I’m waiting for all cameras to have inch sensors. )

I'm kinda new with Xiaomi/HpyerOS but is there a way to manually look for updates? I have the 14 ultra global since May but have yet to receive any system updates (I'm on HyperOS 1.0.7)
Mmmm the thing is updates come out in batches for different regions and version, so what you could try is selecting like the UK to get an update, but of course it depends on which batch yours is from, could take a bit longer
mine also on 1.0.7.0.UNAMIXM. CN, EU, IN already received their updates. updates is really Xiaomi's true weakness.

I'm in the moment contemplating to get one..
Shooting lots of video in some really dim lighting (Outside in the moonlight for instance)
I know that outside the standard video mode Xiaomi 14 Ultra Pro Video modus gives much better results than the standard/night mode.
And in Pro Video mode I can go up to ISO 32.000 in 4K, and it is pretty amazing what I can see.
(In Pro modus I set auto ISO but manual shutter to 1/24 and than turn up the EV to like + 4.0.. then I switch to Night Video and back into Pro Video mode.. and there (when it is dakr enough, the ISO kicks up all the way to 32.000..! (And shutterspeed can go to 1/8th sec.
--No idea if it is a bug, but I actually like it, and when I then turn on Log... I can really see in the dark :)
But what I am trying to figure out is if the Vivo x100 Ultra (which has a 4k 30 fps night video function that really pushes the exposure insanely high), if it is actually better?
--I know it's only usable in stable (none panning shots), compared to the Xiaomi 32.000 ISO in pro modus which is very usable even with panning shots.
And if in Pro video modus the x100 Pro/Ultra actually also can go higher than the 12.800 ISO.. ?
Like when setting auto ISO but shutter manually to 1/24 and than turn up the EV to like + 4.0..

Xiaomi camera software struggles with skin tone when it comes to imagines of people as a subject. Poor color skin tone, under exposure
I am looking forward to finding out.... I ordered my 14 Ultra Yesterday. I broke the screen on the 13 Pro and the insurance company said it was beyond economical repair so wrote it off.. I have not been paid for the loss of the phone, long story but never use Assurant for phone insurance! You have been warned. I did try to get my phone back to send to Xiaomi UK 's repair centre SBE but they refused to return it... So I had to dig deep and just buy a new phone and take a chance on the 14 Ultra.
So lets see what the new phone can or cannot do once it has been updated.

@@ThroughJermainesLens They have not said if they have or even ever had the phone. The tracking confirmed it arrived but they refuse to answer if they still or ever had it. It could have been repaired but they chose not to and the Insurance claim the 13T Pro is the same or equal to the 13 Pro so refuse to offer an improved offer.
I would have taken it to the Xiaomi repair centre myself if I had known they would try to destroy or keep the phone and not repair or offer an equal spec phone.

mmmmmm I don't have it, but did you make sure to clean the glass on the back? In night this can really effect the result
I respect Xiaomi, but that lens fogging issue, and their lacklustre reaction, is going to haunt them (like Apple's infamous butterfly keyboard issue). A dedicated subreddit topic states this is an existing issue as far back as the 12, so it looks like a design flaw. Make sure your hardware is flawless, then bring me your software updates. I'll have a look at the 15 Ultra when it releases. Fingers crossed.
Xiaomi isn't the only device suffering from this. OnePlus had it. Vivo had it. Some Samsung had it. It's pretty "easy" to solve. Open up the sim card slot, run a few stress tests or benchmarks and also put the phone inside a sealed bag during that time. The trapped humidity inside will evaporate and the fogging will be gone.

I don't agree that they are shit. They aren't there yet and the Xiaomi 13 Pro still better, but I don't think they are shit.

@@satishchandra1904 Vivo tends to be too soft. Samsung... just no, their camera's are poor. I tested Samsung and they aren't good, Edge detection sure maybe, but the shots have no feel at all and look poor.
Vivo edge detection is better, but needs to work on keeping details there, skin isn't smooth and it should show that in protraits.
