- The new Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries DLC "Solaris Showdown" has arrived. Let's take a look at all the gameplay aspects, story, new Mechs and weapon systems together. In this playthrough we will start a new career as a Mechwarrior thrown int o a conflict against our will.

Fresh off a successful mission on the notorious Mercenary Star, Mason and crew journey to the Hardcore system where they collide with 'Mech pilot Duncan Fisher embarking on a quest to secure a spot in the FedCom Unification Tournament. Forming an unlikely alliance, Mason and Fisher traverse the shadows of Solaris, engage in harrowing 'Mech duels, and race against the clock to save the day - a true Solaris Showdown.
Join Duncan Fisher in a race against time to thwart the overthrow of the Solaris Council, discover the new Loader King 'Mech, select new weapons and equipment tailored for close-quarter engagements, and help save the very future of Solaris.
The gameplay of Mechwarrior 5 is split in two different parts. On the one hand you will have to manage your resources, hire new crew members, outfit your Mechs and travel through the Inner Sphere star map. But the action starts as soon as you get into the cockpit of your Battlemech yourself to fulfill contracts on the battlefield to earn more C-Bills and progress the story. I will review the weapon systems, battlemechs, show you how to build the loadouts and train your pilots and take a look at all the different mission types and upgrades of the MW5 Heroes of the Inner Sphere DLC.

That "Flash Strike" contract with the Kincha Fruit Cache cantina mission reads like "Please kill an important person and anyone who gets in your way, also, destroy lots of tech and property, and steal any loot you come across. Oh and can you pick up a dozen apples on the way back? Granny Smiths preferably..."
As you fly to new places, check the barracks for better pilots. Early early can still get middling pilots with upgrades. Which are huge boosts on starter pilots.

Hello there Mechwarriors! Let's do war crimes and get paid! Also do infiltration contracts, they're easy, but rewarding, you get to sneak around an scan stuff. I do them even till late game, they're cool. Here are some tips for infil:
1) Do them alone.
2) Ride a small mech which can deliver a powerful alpha (my Kobold has 2x PPC-X and a SRM6) to silence stuff.
3) You win the mission by getting 1 salvage box. That's it, you don't need to do more.
4) You don't have to do everything! The unit placement is random, sometimes you can do it all, but often it's impossible. Be smart and make choices.
5) The mission is about sneaking through the map and see what you can do.
6) Go for money. With a good infiltration you shouldn't kill any mechs.
It's all about tactics and choices, those are one of the best mission types!
It's a game about mech on mech combat. Playing missions that involves not fighting anything is entirely pointless.
@@BeardedDanishViking actually it's about doing jobs for money, which often involves combat. MWO and Living Legends are about pure combat.
Infil missions are designed as a variety to "drop, obliterate everything, evac, but bigger mechs, repeat." I like it, you don't have to.
I use a Locust-1E for these missions, very fun.
@@indignantlamentation6307 I go with a fast medium to get rid of things quickly. I wonder how would it go with some of the YAW stealth options.
@@bjorntrollgesicht1144 I don't think they built in anything for stealth armors. The game just seems to be pretty simply judging how far away you are from things and nothing else matters.

That was a wild mission, the Dervish taken out by a surprise Arrow Urbie lol and a potential can opener crab? Good way to end and can't wait to see what kind of wild mess you bring us next time. :D

@@patrickglaser1560 I am the exact same way, that's why I love his play-throughs, he rarely restarts unless something is bugged or absolutely devastating.
I was a Mechwarrior until I took an Arrow IV to the knee
It was his left torso so it was more like he took an arrow to the heart :S

The double AMS feels like a godsend. Looks like fun is a GO!
That Crab as an anti air+missle defense is great to toss a defensive pilot in and just have around. He can protect the lance while you're scouting or flanking. A damage minimizer rather than damage dealer. Also I love crabs lol
What a lucky find! I bet you could have done that base defense with a couple of spawned harassers and helicopters. That urbie is fast enough to run around and charge up all the relevant AC2s and if you're lucky, maybe an LRM10 launcher....

Baradul has made me pick this one back up. I've been rocking a dual heavy rifle/dual binary laser COR-PVT. Heat is literal hell, but it hurts things.

On the exploration mission, I figured you would collect everything, then the game would lock on the way back to the Dropship.
I can't wait for Mechwarrior 5 Clans! October 3rd cant come fast enough.
Also, an Arrow Urbie is spooky as hell, and I can't wait to see what you do with the Crab to make it a viable mech. Any word on when we will be seeing more Goblin Stone? You got me hooked on it and I need to see what happens next!
Cold Snap is easy one. I set the mercs at the corners of the protected area and I get one corner. That way there is always someone attacking the enemies as they show up. I can usually be able to assist.
Getting nuked by an Urbanmech is top tier lore
those infiltration missions are pretty decent to solo. Taking a Javelin, preferably Hi There seems to work the best for me.
Weapon groups only stay set when made in the main hub. If changed during a sortie, it is only temporary.
Well, I just looked it up & apparently Clans comes out October 3rd. Well, now I have a deadline to both get a better computer actually meant for gaming & the DLC's I don't have up to Solaris.

if you used Stacked Crates but just set it up for the scan capability, you won't have to press "E" to get stuff
Over on nexus mods there is Advanced Jump Jets. You may like it, gives you control over your airborne momentum.

@baradul, you might consider taking Goblin as a pilot and putting his mech in storage. You did have to earn him by getting to level 4 … just a thought, since your pilots are kinda terrible 😂

Did someone know how to deal with the freeze problem of YAML mod?
When I tried to edit mechs loadout like MATAR, it often got freeze and I need to restart the game.
LOL, "Kincaid" is a family name. "Kinkaid" is either a typo or one of the devs is privately messing with us. ;)

I loved playing mech warrior when it came out on the PC. The graphics in your vids look amazing, what are the specs of your PC??? I have a laptop that is an I7, with 16GB ram and the internal 'iris' graphics.... will I be able to run the game???
i dont know why you didnt get the collect mg's cantina mission, you can buy them and its a free drop ship upgrade

What difficulty parameters do you use? Interesting, because I try to find a balance beetween hardcore gameplay and opportunities to rebuild a lot of mech
So, hate to correct you, Bara, but it is pronounced Kin-Kaid. Named (most likely) for the Kinkaids that were the Dukes of Bremard and Brundege (probably spelled those wrong) and who would also produce the first Mechwarrior in the form of Charles Kinkaid.

Not hyped about Clans at all. I'm big on replayability and Clans will not offer that. Would've preferred if Clans was an expansion to MW5Mercs so it expands career mode. Ah well, I hope modders can at least make use of the stuff that's worthwhile and bring it into MW5Mercs.

How arw they making ANOTHER GAME with the same name (MW5).
All they need to do to revive this franchise permanently.
1. MWO2 - Works like this. PvE activity raising your pilot rank (just you) and getting mechs + weapon. Mechs and Weapons drop with random quirks + random weapons and retain the t1-t4 from MW5. Players can trade these with other players. Use those Mechs and weapons in pvp exactly like MWO, but better graphics.
The dervish always did give me "main protagonist" vibes.
