Anybody remember the old Mech Commander games ? Those were fun games to play back in the day .
When I first started playing Battletech Total Warfare. I was playing Mech Commander Gold. That game was great, the cutscenes were reminiscent of the Command and Conquer era and the amount of customization before missions was excellent.
And people managed to put MechWarrior 2: Mercs in MechCommander Omnitech, stand alone add-on of MechCommander 2.
They also have some fun campaigns about Gray Death Legion and Wolf Dragoons.
Are they still available on Steam or elsewhere ?
Those are available for free download
@@Bagheera2 The Game Rusted Warfare is not free. But the Mod you download after to play with Battletech within the game is free.
Had no idea this game existed. Its design philosophy seems to be right up my alley. Gameplay > graphics
Thanks for showing this off!
"The manticore is a nasty one", yeah it is, it was designed to take on battlemechs while supporting infantry with its main weapon being a Parti -Kill Heavy Cannon PPC.
I always got scared when I saw them in Table Top or the new battletech game. That and srm carriers.
Demolisher scares me more. Two AC-20s and SRMs on a 200 ton tank make my preference for light mechs suddenly feel exceptionally stupid.
@@DoubleWhammy At least you can run away from a Demolisher. Alacorns, on the other hand...
@@DoubleWhammy The Demolisher, Rommel and Patton tanks aren't as scary as you think, they are purely for urban/close range and yes while the Patton does pack an AC/10 and an LRM-5 for medium/long range that's not really all that threatening to a battlemech that has weapons that can hit targets from even longer ranges.
27:55 "Already played enough hair-brained schemes" that sir is blasphemy!!!!!
You're right. I think I should play Rouge Tech soon.
@@FrankslabI'm a 3062 man myself but Rogue Tech is a hell of a mod it's just a little too slow paced for me
Wow man this mod looks really well done and I love battletech, I'm definitely gonna have to give it a shot
Yeah, I really enjoyed it. If you are looking for other's to play it with and have discord you can stop by the G-NX gaming community channels. There is an invite in the description of the video.
The wonders of how such a simple game offers that solid of a base for amazing mods
Rusted Warfare is on sale again for $2.99 until June 7th.
yuuup, just saw this video and got it lol. so cheap I might as well.
I missed the sale, but full price it is only $4.99
Yo! Gotta thank you for opening my eyes to the rusted warfare modding scene, I've been playing a smorgasbord of mods on there since I saw your video a few days ago!
I didn't know this game existed, so I bought it right away. This is probably the closest to MechCommander 1.
Thank you for this video!!
"What happens when you find a mod for battletech in any game? You download it and try it out."
-that is if you find any...wondered about something like this sometime ago though...wish there was a video showcasing mods or total conversions that turned "x" game into Battltech.
they are rare, and abandoned. Capellan Soluton for C&C Generals comes to mind.
as for this...gonna keep watching the video to see if it's worth the $2.99.
Ok, let me know what you think after you watch the video.
party like it is 1993
Exactly 💯
this looks so cool, not sure i can get into the old school graphics but i might have to try
Yeah I've really been enjoying it. The graphics look a lot better when you're playing. I wonder if there might be some graphics mods on the workshop that might be compatible with Rusted Warfare and the Mechwarrior: Civil War Mod. Thanks for the comment I really appreciate it.
Would be interesting if the modder could implement pilot skill level increases so they get % more accurate as they level up. But the CPU players would need behavior to baby their pilots as well.
Alot of C&C games have the veteran mechanic for units where they get stronger after surviving and passing a certain damage threshold. A star will usually appear over units who achieve this. The mech pilots can be saved when ejecting,
but the amount of code to implement all of this might be a lot of work for the modder, just to implement something that wouldn't necessarily influence gameplay in this genre (RTS), that much.
Do you have a mod that makes the construction units sound like the SCV from starcraft? Or is that just ripped from the game? lol I also in the first few minutes heard the comsat station.
The mod creator used SC sounds in the mod. I think it's great.
Not only that, there is SC1 civilian sounds, Goliath sound, missile turret sound and bunch of others😂
This looks amazing
It's a very enjoyable mod and plays well. Makes me think about what a Battletech Alpha Strike video game would be like with base building.
I'm curious - does this game have actual projectile physics? at least, when you shoot at a moving target with non-seeking projectiles is there a chance to miss? can you move out of the way of incoming artillery shell sand other slow moving projectiles? or it is auto-hit the second you are in range?
So if you start watching from 17:14, you will see the Mauraders I'm microing are able to dodge slower projectiles. I would have to watch closer to see if it's possible to dodge a ppc if the enemy fielded any.
For the mod, it depends on the projectile.
The vanilla game is mostly made up of projectiles that will follow target movement, altough some (namely most artilleries, and IIRC the battleships) have straight-going bullets. The property can be off in some mods
@@nickc1425 Terrain does matter. This map that I showcased the Mod on was flat. But if you play on other maps with variable terrain elevation you'll see the mechs use JJ's (Jump Jets) they'll also walk through water and have to climb leveled terrain. Terrain will also block projectiles if your mech is behind it.
Yup. There's a chance a unit could miss but that's up to the modder. You'd see them a lot in medieval themed mods or 16th-20th century mods
Is this the in game music?! It’s perfect
It is. Rusted warfare has its own soundtrack, and I believe it's customizable.
The music is from the Mechwarrior 5 ost - would be part of the mod i guess
cool
Yeah it's alot of fun once you get used to it.
Sold me on it. Not on sale was 5.34 with tax
Yeah the game isn't on sale currently but still a great thing to have considering all the Mods.
I take it back. I just looked it's on sale again.
this is ultra cool!
Thank you! I'm glad I discovered it.
I wonder if there is a BT mod for Wargame: Red Dragon or its sisters.
I'm not entirely sure, but I can check the workshop tomorrow to see what's there.
