Game dev is from China. No wonder the voice lines read and sounds proverb-ish, as it is with other Chinese games. I will still play it regardless of how cheesy the storyline is since the game's loaded with great gameplay features.
The voice lines also suffer in quality as a result of Chinese Languages and English being so different from each other. The Original Voice lines and voice actors are likely better than the English versions by factors of ten.
Very polite of the robots to orbital-drop their units in front of all your guns and fortifications instead of just on top of whatever you're defending.
Art style and graphics are great! 7:12: It's super dark; can't see the enemies at all. 8:00: Daaaamn, that's sick! 19:00: Damn dude, this game is cinematic AF! 32:45: Love that! 38:00: No wonder humanity's losing the war when the leaders run away at the slightest sign of combat; that wasn't even a close battle! I really haven't found another FPS/RTS as good as Sanctum, in the decade + since that game was made. This doesn't look like quite the same thing - focused on a central point rather than running around the map and mazing - but it does have what Sanctum did not, which is other people and an engaging set. Story is obviously lazy and nonsensical but ya can't win um all. The enemies and attack paths will have to get more dynamic though. A bunch of blobs just trundling toward you from one direction is super lame. Will have to see what the later-game is like but love it so far!
BRO!!! Sanctum is my favorite tower fps of all time! I played S2 with a friend and fell in love so many years ago. You’re the first I’ve seen to mention this.
This game is worthy of your time. It is actually really good, but hidden beneath bad reviews given by impatient people, in my opinion. The start is really slow and the game is restrictive at first and confusing as the way it unfirls is not well thought through or realised and some things seem lost in translation (mandarin), but once you orientate yourself and unlock the base areas and some schematics, boy does it ramp up! Have you seen the endgame gameplay? It is insane! Those trailers did not lie. If you think the game sucks at the start, you aren't wrong, but keep going... you will realise the genius and be rewarded.
Gameplay so awesome, But the voice over on every story mission they're like ROBOT singing, lmao. They should hired voice actor. If I would rate that story voice actor 4/10 , Gameplay 8/10
When I was like 16, I had the idea to make a multi-player base defense game. Where 2 teams would fight, 2 rounds.. You build your own base, and weapons, And there's RNG that assigns a commander on each side, and that's the bases that are fought over. Round one side a attacks b defends Round 2 a defends b attacks It's entirely about communication, strategy, and how you build and customize your base and weapons and vehicles Could be 1v1 with bots Or whatever
@@eastindiaV when fortnite was first coming around this is what I thought it would be. I didn't play it much but I always wanted them to do exactly this or like big team battle with 50 v 50. First 5 mins can't attack other side so you go, gather and build a base to protect a flag. Then after 5 mins border opens and battle is on.
There is something to that vein with Starcraft 2 custom modes, Zerg Wars where both teams are defending tower defense style and sabotaging the enemy team so they die faster , various other types where 1 team is defending and other is attacking exist as well.
@@majormajorasic I think the evolution of it will be forcing players to build and defend their own base in first person, which teaches tactics. (Kinda like what fallout 76 should have been) Skill to win that way.
@@majormajorasic oh that's cool, yeah very much same concept. Custom games in brood war was where I spent a huge portion of my childhood lol that sounds dope. I agree tho that concept into a fps is the next step up and would be dope to see
I do have to admit this actually looks fun to play. Truth is I’ve never played something of this style of hybrid. Am a fan of first person shooters, and RTS and the fact that they made one that combined both kind of got me excited as I’m watching this video. 😂
GLORY TO RAPTORIA !!! this really dose look good just might be worth the try n kick some ass who ever trys going toe to toe with Raptoria needs a world of pain !!! Hell ya Brother !!!
I have about 100 ish hours but this is one of the more grindy games you will play if you get this game. This is a fun game with good game features but it’s every slow to start
I'd love it if the fps / rts hybrid transitioned to mmos. A lot of pve is pretty dull in mmos, so being able to have a human or ai controller to the npc mobs / armies would make the experience more compelling.
After seeing how Halo 5 Warzone was the successor to Halo 4 Dominion, which was in turn, the successor of Halo 3 Territories... I figured, the next step would be to add RTS elements.
Havent watched the video yet; Title has me hooked cos I've been searching for games that do this concept for a LONG, *LONG* time. Will update this comment after watching. Update: Might buy and give it a try.
If they can recover the control cores but it takes 6 months to build a new outpost to even use the darned cores then it's better for them from a logistics standpoint to keep as many outposts operational instead of retrieving the cores and then have them sit around for 6 months collecting dust.
this is the game i’ve needed ever since epic pulled the plug on fortnite; save the world voice acting aside though i think the english i’ve heard during the players of the first descendant was worse 😅particularly if you got to the character selection screen (oof)
Is there a way to use the Chinese audio with English subs, highly doubt the original script had a commander say his commanding officer threw a "tantrum" the gameplay looks outstanding, just hope they redo the voice acting.
20:30 I love how the developers put in so much time and effort to give the outpost a lived-in, battle-weary feel by writing and voicing individual conversations and backstories for so many of the soldiers you encounter on your way to the CIC. But then Raptor is just like "Not my problem, nothing to do with me, oh that's cool but I don't care... I'll just ignore that and go where the objective marker is sending me."
Graphically it looks good, (at least I thought that until watching the guns fire and realized that it just looks like repeating laser blast jpegs, obnoxiously large tracers and massive screen clutter) but the sound design is awful, voice acting is bad (if it’s not just ai) and the combat AI looks really rough. If this were early access I could understand. But they tout it as finished and yet as of the last reviews the final boss isn’t even in the game yet, they’re waiting for the next update to actually finish the story line. Should be early access
The idea is there, but again, budget is not. If i was a creator, i wouldnt do kickstarter to make a game, but to build game dev studio and use kickstarter as a budget
the game is good but the problem that it is in a very unstable and unplayable version for now after the tutorial most cutscenes will crash and lock your game in to a crash loop if youi like the game i recommend waiting some updates before getting it or waiting for a discount
Too bad 90% of the gameplay does not actually involve you defending your base, but going outside scavenging some stuff and then leaving. You really only do this on the very last day.
Game dev is from China. No wonder the voice lines read and sounds proverb-ish, as it is with other Chinese games. I will still play it regardless of how cheesy the storyline is since the game's loaded with great gameplay features.
Right on, accurate assessment
Can you tell me which parts are sounding proverbish? I never thought about this, but it does make sense with how Chinese culture is.
Inb4 Chinese games spy on millions
I wait and will giggle

Arknights be like
Oh man. I have not heard voice acting this bad in quite a while. It's somewhat endearing.
Its AI translated and AI voice acted
@@fiesbert5677 Given both of those things that explains a lot.
Are you serious? I've heard WAY worse. This is actually pretty decent, as in not overtly painful to listen to.

Tower Defense hybrids tend to be my favorite. Adding this to the wishlist!
You will not be sorry, dude. I've played nothing else all week.
Need to complete campaign for it to get real good but it's a must play for td and rts fans
Helldivers 2 tower defense missions have a similar vibe
It has so many problems though.
Dialogue reminds me of early 2000s Japanese video games. Resident Evil 2,3. MGS 2: Sons of Liberty comes to mind. Cracks me up.

Sanctum 2 was a great idea but they messed up the balanced. Later levels are de-facto impossible to solo
