      It's funny because while not exactly as you described it, there are men that try to establish dominance in similar ways at the bar. The funny thing is among humans the man that has to try to establish dominance is the least alpha in the room.

      We r humans and dogs r dogs so only dogs can understand each other but in some cases a humans perspective on how a dog feels in a certain moments can be right at times... we all know what nervous, shy, and scared looks like but his dog showed no type of fear... his dog was calm and not interested in the other dogs but when his dog was approached it used regular body language instead of a aggressive or scared type of body language... normal communication in dogs is when 2 dogs r able to sniff each other without any conflict but its usually dominant alpha dogs the ones to start a conflict due to demanding respect from others dogs

      That's not an alpha dog... that's an insecure fearful dog trying to assert some dominance over the other dogs. Alpha dogs don't behave like this, they are confident and they control other dogs by simply using assertive body language. Alpha dog's only bark and snap at other dogs who are being disrespectful or aggressive to regain order. This dog was challenging every dog at the park, and he snapped at multiple dogs for no reason.... he's insecure and fearful. when combined those characteristics create aggression.

    The lip lick is actually a sign saying “I don’t want to fight” which shows confidence in your dog, I especially liked when she corrected that black dog because like you said - she wanted to play but knew it would rile up that misbehaving tan dog. The play bows she gave showed she wanted to have fun but unfortunately at dog parks there’s always a buzz kill. Good on you staying calm and just adding distance from the park bully. George is that kid on the Rugrats episode that steals everyone’s ball and pops it because he’s teething lmao

    • @joelsdogbehavior
      @joelsdogbehavior ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nope, lick lip is just anxiety. It's not communicative, it's self soothing. Like a human folding their arms when they are nervous.
      Also, the lunge at the black dog was way out of line. You don't get to be a jerk because someone else is a jerk to you. Dogs don't have to play if they're nervous or just dont feel like it, but the healthy way to communicate that is just to be still and not play.

      @@joelsdogbehavior I don't think you understand pack behavior then. When the group sees you as the lowest ranking they will pick on you constantly UNTIL you stand up for yourself. I have a very assertive 140lb Rottweiler, a few dogs have tried challenging my dog at the park similar to this and my Rottweiler pins them down until they stop. I've been teaching my Rottweiler to ignore this kind of behavior from other dogs so things don't escalate. The owner needs to take control of their dog. Cool camera angle by the way! What bothers me is why isn't the owner there correcting their dog. He's being territorial and dominant. He is NOT the pack leader. I had a Shepard growing up. My dad was a security guard and he worked with the county cops so he had her trained with a k9 trainer. We could have her off the chain. She never got out of ear shot. We would say heal and she would stop dead in her tracks. If you can't control your dog like that, they have no business being away from you and off the leash. The Alfa male wasn't too timid to learn that dominance isn't allowed in the park if he wants to continue to run and play. People need to think. More attacks could be avoided if humans just use their brain. The female's master is on point and it's just as much his job to protect her as it is for her to protect him. She just wants to run off some of that energy and do some quick greets and move on. She says she ain't got time for these fur bags games! LOL

    This is why I do not take my dogs to these parks,...., Walking my Akita-Pit Male on the beach and a dog ran up on us and before you knew it this dog was out of control and soon as he jumped my dog I tazored the crap out of it. The TOUGH GUY owner freaked and I told him the tazor was a kindness afforded his dog, next would have been the quick release lead and muzzle. HE did not see the muzzle. I don't get in between fight dogs, I rarely if ever have to at my property where use to foster rescued fight Rottweilers for re-entry into good one dog only homes for local rescues, but they make tazors for runners to "correct" an ill-behaved dog attacking, oh and if they stop large Lab-mastiff like a Daniff mix on the beach cold,......, I bet they will work on the owners too! LOL!!!! Easiest just to socialize your hounds as puppies and if they do have that uncontrollable urge to misbehave, throw on a muzzle- you are in the long run protecting your dog, oh and yourself from vet bills of the other dog owners and possible legal actions because of YOUR irresponsibility. I know my dog and if provoked he'll go for it, but he really is not interested in other dogs so the quick release lead and muzzle USUALLY keeps the wanna-be "professional" dog handlers at bay,..., but if not,........, LIGHT'EM UP! KUDOS to the Pitty owner- well behaved pit.

    Your dog is very calm and is not quick to to turn on another dog and go salvage. My irish staffordshire bull terrier was the same. He would play and wouldnt be interested in a fight but if another layed onto him they would a very nasty surprise. But he would never go kill mode though and tearing them up or bite hold or anything. He hated aggresion and did not like other dogs attacking smaller. He died in june last year and miss him very much. He was beauty of a dog a real head turner.

    This behavior usually confuses me. I never seem to know what is playing and what is fighting. I've only ever had very laid back pups, and I never took them to dog parks, just in case. Greyhounds are really lanky couch potatoes.

    That other dogs shouldn’t be in public parks till he get his act straight tbh, he could be playing if he is then I take that back but some people are gonna feel like he is attacking their dog. If he does a serious attack one day it could get that dog shot

    05:50 When I was growing up we had a golden retriever and close by there was a soccer field and once when a soccer match was going on, our dog saw the ball and just couldn't help herself. She ran out into the field, took the ball and after she was done letting the not so happy team chase her, she inflated the ball. Picking her up I avoided eye contact with the men. Didn't wanna push my luck😂

    My brother use to breed Rottweilers when the puppies where old enough I came over to help him train and socialize them 😊 there where a few Rottweilers he had that where dominate but their role was to keep everyone in line and keep the peace if you have a insecure dominant dog then your going to have problems that’s lack of proper training and socialization which is the owner’s fault

    This is exactly why i don't bring my 2 GS's to dog parks .. I don't think my 2 males would be this forgiving .. You're pup is well behaved it seems .. With my 2 i just take them to the beach 30mins or so before sunset & let them have their fun their ( granted I don't use leashes ) but this just seems a bit much for bigger more dominate dogs ..
