I'm surprised to see you bring a ball to the dog park. I stopped going to dog parks awhile back because of people bringing treats / balls and those things gets dogs excited and turn into fights.
Its ok for him to bring the ball if they were like the firsts ones there and lets say he wanted to run the energy out of them before the other dogs show up. But yea the way he did it in this vid wasn't great; I think it was sorta creating "competition" for the dogs to see who could get the ball.
Well trained and socialized dogs know how to share a resource like a ball. After all, they’re pack animals and instinctively know it’s ok to work as a group. Totally up to the quality of handler/owner.
Would you be willing to make a video on what behaviors are ok/not ok in an off leash dog play setting. I work at a daycare and while I know some basics I want to know when or if I should intervene or let the dogs figure it out.
As a dog owner, if my dog knocked over a kid, I get up and go over to the kid with my head down, ears half-raised and tail between my legs, to reassure the kid that my dog was overly playful with them and as an act of apology to the parents. Just good practice, that's all.
I wish more people knew to correct their dogs. Had somebody yelling “Minnie be gentle he’s just a puppy” as if that would work. While I held their dogs collar to stop him from jumping on my dog. Minnie got the whole group over excited and I had to remove my puppy cuz he was getting jumped on by Four dogs. Whole group hangs out together and left together.
Bro quick question, the raised hackles, do dog notice it,if so,does the gopro harness because of the position of it nake it raised,cause sometime my dog harness make the same effect and she get challenged if whene she is relaxed, any idea thanks
When there's a stare down, what do you do to intervene? I've recalled my dog which has set the other one off before because she let her guard down, so I'm not 100% sure.
