I am glad that this is just a concept, it is NOT necessary to abandon Mario Kart in favor of a "Nintendo Kart" experience. This Nintendo Kart idea wouldn't even good for marketing purposes, imagine the Mario kart fans who aren't familiar with Samus, Link, etc. And don't tell me "They can call it Mario Kart for marketing purposes" because again, lots of folks won't recognize half the drivers. Some non mario drivers are fine but if the series makes them a big part then it will hardly be Mario kart anymore, do us a favor and think about the bigger picture, though i'll admit your map builder concept is widespread and is an amazing idea.

I can't even recall my idea's I posted before youtube deleted them. Some were about having the startline act as a portal so each lap teleports you into another course, that way it feels like your race is a journey. Start in Mario Circuit, go to Boo's Mansion, end in Bowsers castle. New items. Adding boss characters to courses like King K Rool in a DK level who's blasting you and racers from the background, or boss racers who are not playable but they are your rival in story mode.
I think that the guest characters from Mario Kart 8 will not be in the next game at all to make room for other guest characters. I also think that it will use the same roster as 8 Deluxe but have the alts in a sub-menu for the characters.
A track builder is a must. It’s the reason why Mariokart Wii is still going strong with CTGP. Letting players make their own tracks greatly increases the longevity of the game.
Would love to see characters like Mallow and Geno show up alongside others who weren't in the previous one like R.O.B. and King Bob Omb. Also would like to see representation from the Mario Movie like with courses themed after Brooklyn and Kong Island.

Also how about instead of collecting coins and just getting a certain amount unlocks a random kart piece, add a parts shop where you can spend your coin on customization stuff. Maybe even costumes? And while were at it, how about having the Trophy you win from the cups, actually MEAN something? Like the more trophies you have the better the AI is to force you to get better. Or the ability to LOSE your 1st place trophy, have it so you have to defend being the champion after winning gold?
random matchmaking online in a double dash mode would go so hard. I can't imagine Nintendo doesn't lean into the "everyone/everything" returns mindset. It worked for smash ultimate, they toyed with it in 8 deluxe, and we just deserve it. if they're willing to add Link, I see no reason why we don't get Zelda and Ganon. Then add more characters from more franchises. If they're worried about the Mario branding being lost, just add more characters from Mario, Yoshi, and Donkey Kong (seriously, so many DK characters just missing for no reason). I think some Pokemon would make a welcome addition. The original three starters, plus pikachu, jigglypuff, and maybe mewtwo. I just want a bigger, way bigger, character roster that doesn't have fake duplicate characters like tanookie mario.

double dash only worked so well due to people being in the same room and machine/Lan wouldnt work so well online! Trolls so idea doesnt work! pluis lag differences etc people would get pissed off and just play single online!

TH-cam deleting my damn comments, how insufferable. Another idea I have even though this wouldn't effect gameplay, would be improve the detail. What I mean is if you get hit by a bomb-omb and blow up, have your karts wheels get blown off and your car is smoking and your character has that cartoonish black sut or whatever on their face like they just got blown up. It would only last 2-3 seconds as you need to get back in the race, it would just be a visual thing. A shell hits you, your kart gets a dent in it? Stuff like that.
Why do you say that? To explain, I don't mean like Halo where you place random pieces, or that you can make courses on the level of the dev courses. I mean more of like, Super Mario Maker level type of stuff. Simpler
