Nintendo considers Mario Kart Tour part of the mainline series and honestly I can see why. This game had the MOST content (characters and drivers) of any game in the series and introduced new things.
I would love for all the characters, karts, and gliders from Tour plus their variants to be in the next main Mario Kart. That would make grinding the game way more enjoyable.
As much as I would love that, I think we know for a fact that if they pack enough unlockables they're gonna be locked under a gacha element where you have to roll for them instead of grinding
I gotta agree, though the costumes and variations of characters needs to be implemented to the mainline games. And the other characters like king bomb omb and and hammer bros,

Unfortunately people aren’t very open minded in the MK fanbase. They saw the gacha from day 1, never looked back, and like half of them probably believe the Diddy Kong pack still exists lmao.
I may not have played a lot of this game, but this is certainly one of the harder games for the developers to keep up with and stay motivated for. The developers had to keep coming up with new ideas for not only new characters (original or costume), but also karts, gliders, tracks, challenges etc. every two weeks. They did this for FOUR YEARS without breaks. You gotta give them credit where it's due.
Most of the items were finished in the first year or two of the game based on datamining. It's not sustainable for games to have 2 weeks to develop a whole new tour for 4 years in a row.
One interesting thing I noticed about the Wii course selection, is that by the end of the Booster Course Pass, Dry Dry Ruins is likely to be the only Wii remake in Mario Kart Tour to not have gotten ported to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe!

I hope they don’t plan on closing down the game anytime soon because us Tour players like myself really did enjoy this game. Tour also gave us the Booster Course Pass, which was one of my favorite additions for a Mario Kart game to this day! To finish this comment off, I just wanna day… I have loved every bit of seeing this game grow into the biggest Mario Kart game known to date. Long live MKT! ❤🎉
As a Tour player,, It's insane how much content being added in Tour. MK8 Already had the two DLC tracks which I paid for and MK8D had the extra waves for $25 or free if you have NSO
I remembered playing the game on release, but seeing it died made me come back to play it again for the last tours. It had issues, but I think it’s a fun game.
I used to play this game, I think either last year or two years ago, and it was pretty fun. However, I stopped because the game was no longer compatible with my phone. Just LOOKING at Tour's kart and glider content on the Mario Wiki makes my jaw drop! If the next Mario Kart games ever happens, I hope we get more custom content like this!
With Mario Kart Tour and the Booster Course Pass ending, I really hope we get a new mainline Mario Kart game soon! I would like to see an updated Mario Kart 9 (or 10 if you count Tour) prediction/wishlist once the Booster Course Pass is complete. While I have barely played Mario Kart Tour and don’t care for it very much, I will give it credit for adding a lot of new elements to the series as well as bringing back a ton of retro tracks.
@@leosnyder5264 to most older Mario Kart fans, having at least 32 tracks is good enough especially if its new tracks are really good and on top of that its gameplay is going to be a major improvement from MK8D. The only people that will be negatively impacted by the next Mario Kart are going to be 8 Deluxe players who bought the Booster Course Pass.
In a future game I hope that more city tracks will be made as there are plenty of cities they could still do for city tracks like Rio De Janeiro. Additionally I hope they will consider porting over all the non costume characters to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as well but I am not going to be too hopeful just to be safe.
Every release in the Mario Kart series is absolute quality I just know that the next game in the franchise is going to be something special like always.
Mario Kart Tour may be finished, but the game will live on through its online play and community. Mario Kart games are known for lasting long periods of time. I mean, people are still playing MK8 on Wii U 'till this day (I found a full lobby last week).
As someone who's played Tour since launch (technically the closed beta before that) I've been through it's ups and downs but the content that it added was amazing. The R, T, and R/T tracks are such a fun idea, the characters, karts, and gliders are neat. And just a bunch of small things that I enjoyed and want to see in later Mario Karts. Yes it has it's mobile game quirks but it's personally one of my favorite Mario Kart games. Gonna miss seeing it get new stuff
Sad to see this game near its end (not shutdown yet) as I did play it for all 4 years. A few things I would like to see carried from Tour to the next Mario Kart would be this: Have R, T, & R/T instead of Mirror Mode as well as Mission Mode. Bring over the RMX Tracks. Have Luigi (Vacation), Dr. Bowser, & White Tanooki Mario. Bring over the Fast Frank and the Candlelight Flight. Bring back all the the Items (except Bubble). Some things that I wish Tour would've done: Add Bowser Castle 4 T and R/T as well as Rock Rock Mountain R/T Add more Battle Tracks (as well as fixed the Battle Music). Fix the Mii's points (they gave you 10 base points for each extra Mii Outfit).
Someone should upload a video featuring every track featured in Mario Kart Tour as a compilation of previous recordings, for the sake of showcasing what it had before it's gone. And people can also make separate compilations based on every character and costume, every kart, every glider and every power-up in their own individual videos. That would be pretty cool!
Mario Kart Tour evolved as a game over time, in a good way. After just getting rid of the gacha mechanics and making the game more friendly to newcomers, that's when I felt that the game was at its peak. I will not regret the amount of time that I've spent playing this game.
i played this game everyday for 4 years and stopped playing recently. they took us for a ride ups and down yet so much content it felt so incomplete so mad
I remember when this first came out back in high school everybody was playing it except me because I didn’t have a phone it was so popular in my highschool man so many memories
when MK8DX releases it's final wave, I'd love for a final update to include routes for the city tracks that weren't referenced in the track's initial release. (Paris promenade goes route 1 twice and paris promenade1 R. sydney sprint is another that didn't have all routes accessible as well, the MK8 track does 1, 2 and then 1R)
Imagine playing with a specific character unlocks new cosmetics for them and levels up your "mastery" of that character. and a Level Max character unlocks their gold skin to flex online. I would love that. My favorite character design of the Mario franchise of all time was introduced in this game, its the Pirate Bowser Jr.
Its a shame that they had to go down the microtransaction route for this one. Honestly with the sheer amount of content this game could've been a subscription service and be infinitely better for it.
I think it's a good route to take, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't this mean it's a free Mario kart game? That's way better than you having to pay for it
@@mariotheundying Well the game is free to start, which is one benefit. However, actually unlocking items is where it's more luck, especially if it's an item you desire for so long. Also, rotating tracks every two weeks means you don't get to play every track you want to at anytime, unlike past games.
I mean I've been only paying for the $5 gold pass and gotten most of the stuff by now. It's very easy to manage your resources with the subscription just they know some people will end up wanting to get everything instantly.
@@WritingCountingOriginal Yeah, they just jump into the hate train without any second thoughts. Some of them just hating it just for having microtransactions, like they can't just play it without paying. This game is free to play and doesn't throw you ads after each race.
It bothers me that once this game reaches end of service, it just straight up won’t be playable anymore. The games got discontinued before but this would be the first one to become flat out unplayable
I've had lots of fun playing and collecting so much stuff in the game including playing on so many new and returning tracks in the game. And I'll still be playing to collect any missing driver, karts, gliders, I don't have and also leveling up. Except for paying some of those items that are behind a paywall. Those I won't get.
Like it or not, Nintendo considers Tour as a mainline game and is "Mario Kart 9". The next game would most likely be Mario Kart 10. I'm honestly pretty sad that Tour is not getting anymore updates, but leaving it up is still a smart move for people to check it out. Although Tour's controls are a bit jank, i absolutely love it's combo system, and would love to see it as a seperate mode in a future Mario Kart title. Not to mention, the kart and glider designs are so good! I really wanna see them return. Also I'm a bit sad that we arent gonna see more City tracks, we never got a South American or African track. So I kinda hope that the next Mario Kart would maybe include 4 new City Courses.
I've been playing since 2021! I liked how the game evolved slowly over time. (For the better) I also agree that it would be amazing if the alts were in a future Mario Kart Game.
That’s good for those who cannot afford everything right away as we can now take our time to get everything and catch up on what we previously missed using the features from the updates
Bro ngl Nintendo should do a Battle Booster Course Pass or BBCP, it's so underrated. Tour came out with some of the best new tracks. Its sad to see it end, but who knows maybe there will be Mario Kart Twor
I think the thing I’m going to miss the most about this game is my daily 2 notifications. Even though I rarely play the game, I keep notifications on and I really like them :)
I think the reason the game fell off is because they took so long to launch the multiplayer mode. It didn't take long for people to realise they were playing vs bots and uninstall the game. When it did launch, the multiplayer mode was (and still is) very glitchy. Despite being very rich in content, it severely lacks in basic mobile game functions.
Fun Mario Kart Tour facts: 1. Every N64, GCN, and DS course to return as a retro in Tour had been remade at least once before appearing in Tour. 2. All of the GBA tracks that were added to the BCP (as well as Yoshi Desert) got entirely new music in Tour as opposed to all other courses using either their original or most recent pre existing version of the music. 3. DS Mario Circuit is the one exception to fact 2. It is the only non GBA/BCP retro course to get original music. 4. The reason almost all of Mario Kart 7's courses were added to Tour is because it was made using 7's engine. Strange that they didn't add all 16 though. Same with not getting all 20 SNES courses considering yeah, the assets are all there. 5. Mario Kart Tour is the first time a SNES Bowser Castle has ever been remade (Super Circuit doesn't count because all they did was literally copy/paste the SNES courses into the GBA engine) 6. The only non crossover characters to appear in a Mario Kart game that did not reappear in Tour are Paratroopa and Honey Queen Overall, Mario Kart Tour has been a pretty nice game, despite the controversies around the initial gacha mechanics. I played it a bit when it first came out but then stopped until the BCP was revealed. I hope that some of the features that it introduced (new items, R variants of courses, RMX courses) get added to Mario Kart 9. It's safe to assume that at the very least the new characters, cities and other nitros will return; but hopefully they'll bring more.
I have thourougly enjoyed this game, despite the fact it hasn’t gotten much love. That’s basically what my TH-cam channel is about. Can't stand battlepasses or outrageous store prices like in CoD when before we could pay $20 for 4 maps which was way worth the money than $24 one one skin. MK8 Already had the two DLC tracks which I paid for and MK8D had the extra waves for $25 or free if you have NSO
I remembered playing the game on release, but seeing it died made me come back to play it again for the last tours. It had issues, but I think it’s a fun game.
I also took a long break from the game. I came back recently for the final content.
Oh wow, I've never played Tour and honestly had no idea that it had so much packed into it.
I enjoyed it the first year but got tired of it realizing how there are a ton of super rare characters I’ll almost never get
Thanks for having us on Nathaniel! We're glad you enjoyed VITURE One - there's no better way to level up the Switch experience. 😎
While I have barely played Mario Kart Tour and don’t care for it very much, I will give it credit for adding a lot of new elements to the series as well as bringing back a ton of retro tracks.
even if Tour is a mainline Mario Kart, that won't stop the next Mario Kart from being called "Mario Kart 9".
We don't need a new mk way pay70 dollars for Les shut then mk8d. They should do a pass 2 it wood he better
R.I.P Mario kart tour, you’ll be missed.

@@Blueflag04get out of here kid cry your self a river 😂
I guess Mario Kart Tour didn't want to spoil the new Mario Kart game's tracks since MKT introduces new tracks for the DLC for MK8DX
It's sad to see this game not receiving any new content but all things must come to a end
True that but a 4 year lifespan for a Nintendo Mobile game is incredible
@@notnotj1979It's honestly is
In a future game I hope that more city tracks will be made as there are plenty of cities they could still do for city tracks like Rio De Janeiro. Additionally I hope they will consider porting over all the non costume characters to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as well but I am not going to be too hopeful just to be safe.
City tracks are a thing of Mario Kart Tour (hence the "Tour" in the name).
Too bad wii u online is shutting down
MK Wii has been alive since 2015 cus it did die in 2013 but then CTGP became a thing
@C1-wz9jj MKWii's official servers actually died in 2014 before the Wii U came out
As someone who's played Tour since launch (technically the closed beta before that) I've been through it's ups and downs but the content that it added was amazing.
A few things I would like to see carried from Tour to the next Mario Kart would be this:
Have R, T, & R/T instead of Mirror Mode as well as Mission Mode.
Bring over the RMX Tracks.
Have Luigi (Vacation), Dr. Bowser, & White Tanooki Mario.
Bring over the Fast Frank and the Candlelight Flight.
Bring back all the the Items (except Bubble).
Some things that I wish Tour would've done:
Add Bowser Castle 4 T and R/T as well as Rock Rock Mountain R/T
Add more Battle Tracks (as well as fixed the Battle Music).
Fix the Mii's points (they gave you 10 base points for each extra Mii Outfit).
I didn't enjoy Tour's gameplay, but I love its content. I hope all of the alternate outfits and the RMX tracks return in the next Mario Kart.
1:48 frustration series
RIP Mario Kart Tour! I will miss the very cool retro character
I remember someone asked the customer support how to make the panini glider and they gave the actual recipe
I hope the next Mario Kart isn't ridiculously expensive. No lootboxes, no toys, no expensive DLC, etc
The only Mario kart game like that is tour. (That I know of)
Tour doesn't have loot boxes anymore
@@octarian2697 they used to be awful though, whole reason I stopped playing (besides getting MK8D)
@hiilikepizza3197 Not to mention they added in several characters too, it's really surpassed its price at this point. 😊
$25 for 48 tracks and 8 characters isn't expensive
Someone should upload a video featuring every track featured in Mario Kart Tour as a compilation of previous recordings, for the sake of showcasing what it had before it's gone. And people can also make separate compilations based on every character and costume, every kart, every glider and every power-up in their own individual videos. That would be pretty cool!
I’m jealous of the content Mario Kart Tour has compared to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Why? 8 Deluxe has a way higher ratio of quality to quantity.
@@SchmergDergen Yeah and after Booster Course Pass there's so much content to the game. And the base game already had a lot
Tracks I’m salty about never getting:
N64 Wario Stadium
GBA Rainbow Road
GCN Mushroom City
Wii Toad’s Factory
These tracks can be saved for the next Mario Kart.
What if we got a Battle track Pass
Mario Kart Tour evolved as a game over time, in a good way. After just getting rid of the gacha mechanics and making the game more friendly to newcomers, that's when I felt that the game was at its peak.
I will not regret the amount of time that I've spent playing this game.
Honestly, probably my favourite Mario Kart game
Sarcasm alert 🚨
@WritingCountingOriginal when someone mentions something slightly negative about mario kart tour:
@@hinesecitizen My intuition isn’t based off nothing. Also don’t take it seriously, I’m just poking fun.
To tell you the truth, it actually is mine too
i played this game everyday for 4 years and stopped playing recently. they took us for a ride ups and down yet so much content it felt so incomplete so mad
This was one of the best Nintendo mobile releases let’s be honest
I think the next mario kart will add most of the characters and karts at launch then overtime add the rest with some new ones sprinkled in
To think so much new content is locked in a mobile game, depressing. I really wish to see a lot of this in Mario Kart 9 (or possibly the BCP)
Yeah it sucks.
I think you mean MAR10KART
@@bipinnambiar ohmygod
thank you for everything Mario kart tour.
The best part of this game without a doubt is the logo!
I remember when this first came out back in high school everybody was playing it except me because I didn’t have a phone it was so popular in my highschool man so many memories
Ain’t you Nathaniel B?
when MK8DX releases it's final wave, I'd love for a final update to include routes for the city tracks that weren't referenced in the track's initial release. (Paris promenade goes route 1 twice and paris promenade1 R. sydney sprint is another that didn't have all routes accessible as well, the MK8 track does 1, 2 and then 1R)
Hold up ain’t you:
Nathaniel B
In the next Mario Kart game I'd like to see a score attack mode.
Keeping your combo going in Tour was the absolute best part of the game.
Wait hold on, aint you nathaniel b?
Imagine playing with a specific character unlocks new cosmetics for them and levels up your "mastery" of that character. and a Level Max character unlocks their gold skin to flex online. I would love that. My favorite character design of the Mario franchise of all time was introduced in this game, its the Pirate Bowser Jr.
R.I.P Mario Kart Tour’s Content 2019-2023 😭💖
If Mario Kart Tour isn't adding anymore new content. Can you make a "The Good and Bad of Mario Kart Tour" video?
Its a shame that they had to go down the microtransaction route for this one. Honestly with the sheer amount of content this game could've been a subscription service and be infinitely better for it.
Nah, this route is better. It lets people like me, who wouldn't be able to continue paying the fee, to also be able to play the game.
7:03 WOW! I can’t believe I’m just NOW finding out about sprite characters… now that it’s all done!
It's really disappointing and unfair that some people just blindly hate the game without giving it a try.
What do you expect? People are stupid and narrow minded.
The games got discontinued before but this would be the first one to become flat out unplayable
wait hol up aint you nathaniel b?
I've had lots of fun playing and collecting so much stuff in the game including playing on so many new and returning tracks in the game. And I'll still be playing to collect any missing driver, karts, gliders, I don't have and also leveling up. Except for paying some of those items that are behind a paywall. Those I won't get.
Underrated game
I've played Mario kart tour a lot back in 2019 and seeing it not getting any more updates to this day I just want to say RIP Mario kart tour
Aint you nathaniel b?
Happy 30th birthday, Nathaniel Bandy!! I’m a big fan of your channel
I remember playing that game in late 2020 but I stopped playing it in late 2021 because it eventually got boring. now I'm feeling nostalgic
Hold up
I've been playing since 2021! I liked how the game evolved slowly over time. (For the better)
I also agree that it would be amazing if the alts were in a future Mario Kart Game.
It won't be missed
That’s good for those who cannot afford everything right away as we can now take our time to get everything and catch up on what we previously missed using the features from the updates
Don't you Nathaniel b
This game went from not having enough content at launch,to having a crazy amount of new cart's and character's
Hard to believe they stopped updating with only 5 Battle Courses.
I've been playing the game since day one every day.
Boy will I miss the hype for new content.
Fun Mario Kart Tour facts:
5. Mario Kart Tour is the first time a SNES Bowser Castle has ever been remade (Super Circuit doesn't count because all they did was literally copy/paste the SNES courses into the GBA engine)
6. The only non crossover characters to appear in a Mario Kart game that did not reappear in Tour are Paratroopa and Honey Queen
Overall, Mario Kart Tour has been a pretty nice game, despite the controversies around the initial gacha mechanics. I played it a bit when it first came out but then stopped until the BCP was revealed. I hope that some of the features that it introduced (new items, R variants of courses, RMX courses) get added to Mario Kart 9. It's safe to assume that at the very least the new characters, cities and other nitros will return; but hopefully they'll bring more.
nintendo needs to bring back the alt costume characters as just costumes for the characters, maybe as rewards for playing the character
I have thourougly enjoyed this game, despite the fact it hasn’t gotten much love. That’s basically what my TH-cam channel is about. I’ve been a player since day 1 and it’s honestly been such a fun time. I won’t ever stop playing it (or until it inevitably gets shut down) however, with all the content being removed, it definitely won’t be as enjoyable.
