@@cadurlingYou believe that card would grade an 8 with that corner? It would not. That card is not near-mint with that large of a flaw. Therefore, he could return it.
I have bought a good amount of raw cards on eBay. I found out very quickly. Never buy from any of the "LCS" or "Collectible" names with a ton of sales. They pre-screen all their cards. If they are clean and solid, they will send them to get graded. If they have any blemishes, they just post them on eBay and say that they are in "ungraded condition" or some other vague BS. They will manipulate the picture so that light is glaring or reflecting off any possible defect or flaw. Much better off sticking to your like average Joe that is much less likely to be screening their cards.
I have “collectibles” in my name as I buy/sell all the time, but I NEVER send any cards out myself to get graded. I tend to buy more graded cards than raw, but even if a card looks absolutely mint, I’m still selling it raw like I bought it.
The eBay listing usually says Near mint or better which states "Comparable to a fresh pack. Flaws may include: Minor corner and edge wear". So, if you read the listing and click on the circled i, it should show this info. If the card says it is Excellent it is actually worse than NM. Same with Very Good (worse than NM). Buying raw cards is hit or miss. Some people only buy graded cards from PSA, SGC, or CGC instead of raw.
Grading is the reason I stopped buying and selling sports cards years ago. Especially as someone who doesn't bother grading. I knew it was getting bad when I automatically put in the description "has minor scratches" for every chrome card I listed, whether it had them or not... just to stave off the return queens.

I am 100 percent honest on cards I sell, if it has a print line I say so, but mostly I don't even bother listing those cause I don't want issues and have a perfect rating.
If the card has a visible flaw that the seller does not disclose, and the card is listed as NR MT, it doesn't matter if the seller "accepts" returns. That constitutes "item not as described" and they have no choice but to accept the return. They also have to pay for your return shipping expenses.
As a full time ebay seller - I can tell you regardless if the seller doesn't accept returns, you're still able to return the item in this specific scenario. This would be item as not described. Im interested to know how this panned out.
Bought about 40 cards on ebay this week. I find it easier when you just want to collect for pc and dont care about the grade so much as just having the card
The pictures were lacking and that’s on the seller, but it’s also important as a buyer to avoid listings that don’t clearly show the cards condition - including corners. Genuine question and I mean this respectfully - NM by PSA standards is a 7-10, the reality is this would likely get somewhere in that rating. Is that not what you bought? From a sellers perspective, seems like many people buy a NM card and complain when it’s not mint / won’t grade a 10.
True you have a very good point. I guess can’t really complain at the end of the day. It was my choice and just knowing that they’re listed at NM doesn’t mean they’re in pristine condition
I take high resolution pictures on my ebay account. It takes me countless hours to do it but I want my customers to see the quality of the card they are purchasing. And also...do not buy any card that only has photos of the card in the sleeve. Even if the description says gem mint. All my cards are outside the penny sleeves and you can even see lint on it.
No matter if the listing says no returns or refund you are still a saved by the eBay buyer guarantee policy. You have 3 days from delivery of the item to request a refund. These faint marks are hard to see in pictures but are really noticeable in person. I left the guy a bad review because he obviously blurred that part out somehow on the picture he provided and didn't mention any mark in the description.
Ah man I'm very sorry to hear that and that is unfortunate. That is very true, as it is very difficult to see the faint marks on slabs or raw cards, which makes it rough for us buyers who think they're in better condition. Good that you left a bad review.
@@annetteavery4930 in my opinion if you're selling a card you need to put that in the description. And the picture provided did not show the faint mark but the one on the PSA site did. So maybe the image was just lower quality. I provided pictures too in my review so people can see the difference.
A dinged corner should have been noted, but a seller who sells a lot of cards is probably not going to look over every card they sell. But a card of that stature should have been looked over. It's absolutely ridiculous that these sellers list cards as near mint or better when the card is full of flaws. eBay needs to crack down on this. I always leave negative feedback when this happens, regardless if returns are accepted or not and I always file an item not as described claim with eBay.
THIS is why I despise Whatnot! That platform is insanely worse! On eBay, you find a reliable group of sellers and roll with them. Buy from anyone else, and you get what you pay for. That's every platform, unfortunately. All you can do to minimize the risk is to buy from sellers who didn't burn you or go to shows in person.
Dude, EXACTLY! They should all be penalized for this by eBay as they are basically scamming so many buyers out there, screwing them over including myself. I appreciate the suggestions man!
All this video tell me is you dont know how to buy, unfortunately. If you want clean cards buy from me! I'm one of the few sellers left on Ebay that doesn't grade and is always selling very gradable sports cards. I take great photos and if anything is wrong with a card you will see it on the photos or on the description. Best of luck!
Even as someone who has only been back in the hobby for 6 weeks, I was able to figure out who you bought the card from. you didn't do a great job of hiding the seller's identity. my guess is the card was damaged somewhere between the time the photos were taken for the listing until the time you made the video. if you live "PSA 10 or bust," these are the chances you take. As others have said, "near mint or better" is a 7, 8, 9, or 10 and it seems you have that.
😂😂😂 this is all online platforms. Common practice for a big seller to use a default description. Also, NEVER assume something will be a 10. Dumbest thing I've ever heard is expecting that. If that's what you expect, buy it graded already
Couple things here. 1. Don't buy a scanned card if you can't handle the gamble. 2. Ask for corner pics. 3. Wanting someone to fo the job for you then getting upset it's not what it's made out to be... should've been you're lesson. If every card that was listed as mint or didn't post flaws graded a 10 then the business would be easy. It's like a used car salesmen... you gotta know what to buy and you have to know how to sell it... don't blame someone for not doing the job for you.
I sell cards on eBay and honestly that's not really an honest mistake. As a seller I am very aware of the condition of the cards and it sucks but when it's not in good condition you have to post that information.
Its a psa 8 its graded. I doubt he blurred it out.
@@thecrazedcardzhow was it good to give a negative the card is graded a psa 8 why would he blue something out its a $20 card and its graded
@@annetteavery4930 in my opinion if you're selling a card you need to put that in the description. And the picture provided did not show the faint mark but the one on the PSA site did. So maybe the image was just lower quality. I provided pictures too in my review so people can see the difference.
@@annetteavery4930 also waiting two weeks to ship a card deserves a negative review by itself.
A dinged corner should have been noted, but a seller who sells a lot of cards is probably not going to look over every card they sell. But a card of that stature should have been looked over. Assume raw cards are 8-9s, and if you grade them and get a 10, then you got lucky! IF PEOPLE WANT 10'S, THEN BUY 10'S! Don't blame sellers as nobody purposely ruins a card. . . quality control of many cards fresh from packs sucks! Customer service for exchanging these damaged cards sucks as well! Everyone all the way up the chain takes risks!
Facts 💯
Send it back to the card company, maybe damage it more first.. I know a guy who does that and they usually replace it and even throw in extras
Bro bought a raw card from probstein and thought it would gem 😂. Only reason people co-sign raw with them is to get rid of upgradable stuff .
When I Sell Cards I Always Put Condition and Sold As Is
That's very good that you are transparent
Looks like you got a Burbank sports product, welcome to the club my friend
Haha nah it was from another company
Thats because eBay provides free of most labor, eabay honestly needs to be held accountable, i will say if some1 uses product stock photos from another site that seller on eabay gets charge an absurd "gallery photo" fee, but none the less eBay is aiding with schiesters selling on ebay that do not need to be their, ebay "says" they are trying to clean out all the bad sellers & keep the reputable 1's, so whats the incentive for reputable sellers ?, like we deal with shyty buyers all the time & eBay more times than not sides with them, so what was the incentive for reputable sellers again, not most items sold or completed sales but reputable , c'mon eaby stop with the were sorry & that you understand show, JUST BE BETTER, ALL MONEY AINT GOOD MONEY !
The money back guarantee makes it better for buyers on the platform. I have returned cards that have damage and it was never described in the description. Although it says no returns allowed, if there is damage you can return it for your money back. Don’t accept the damaged cards. Immediately request a refund speak with EBay if you have too. I have always received my money back for any damaged cards that I receive even if they say no returns allowed.
Great info! Appreciate it very much 🙏🏽
@@thecrazedcardz Anytime. I hope it helps you and others when they buy from EBay. If the card is mid or high end I will record the opening to show any issues or the card was wrong. I Only had to use the video once. Every other return has been accepted without any issues. Please let me know if you have any questions.
1989 uppwr deck ken griffey jr. RC*.
Win some lose some all part of the game. You can always return the card if the description doesn't match the condition
Just because they don't accept returns doesnt mean eBay won't force them to if you provide pictures and details as soon as you get the card.
Also give them bad feedback
@@tylermarley9159 I was able to return it and get a full refund thank god 🙏🏽
Yup. Bought ken griffey jr on auction. I think paid 70 something. Nicely centered. Sharp corners and there was a crease on th middle left from it being in a binder. It wasn't disclosed. Contacted the seller and never got a reply. Never again. What a shite.
Sucks man it really does. Sorry to hear that. I wish everyone had to be completely honest and describe what flaws there are. Seriously taking advantage of ppl
The reason Ebay stinks all in one video. Reason I always put Very Good in condition. I have cards that looked like a 10 and got an 8, same in reverse. People will start suing PSA soon over grading standards.
Facts
If you want Ebay to go after them Buyers have to do INAD's first.
Never buy raw from Probstein expecting pristine product
I appreciate the feedback
I dont buy cards that have pictures of the card in a top loader!
GM cards?
All this video tell me is you dont know how to buy, unfortunately. If you want clean cards buy from me! I'm one of the few sellers left on Ebay that doesn't grade and is always selling very gradable sports cards. I take great photos and if anything is wrong with a card you will see it on the photos or on the description. Best of luck!
@@southerncalicards nice marketing pitch haha but nah thanks. I do need to not impulse buy on a lot of cards and look more thoroughly
@@thecrazedcardz im being so honest that you think its a marketing pitch. I love it! LOL
@@southerncalicards hahaha nah I know man I’m just kidding about that
Even as someone who has only been back in the hobby for 6 weeks, I was able to figure out who you bought the card from. you didn't do a great job of hiding the seller's identity. my guess is the card was damaged somewhere between the time the photos were taken for the listing until the time you made the video. if you live "PSA 10 or bust," these are the chances you take. As others have said, "near mint or better" is a 7, 8, 9, or 10 and it seems you have that.
I agree with you. Thank you for your insight
😂😂😂 this is all online platforms. Common practice for a big seller to use a default description. Also, NEVER assume something will be a 10. Dumbest thing I've ever heard is expecting that. If that's what you expect, buy it graded already
@@richardbianco9674 true true you’re right
Return it…. Are you kidding me? eBay will take it back
I did lol thank God
I buy my cards off Facebook groups. Can get better close up pictures
Good idea and yeah for sure
They probably damaged it when they slide it back in the holder. Yes they are horrible at communications and ebay let's them do what they want.
Very unfortunate to know and it sucks that because of how large of a shop these guys are, eBay will give them the benefit of the doubt over any seller
Lumbee Legend
Couple things here.
1. Don't buy a scanned card if you can't handle the gamble.
2. Ask for corner pics.
3. Wanting someone to fo the job for you then getting upset it's not what it's made out to be... should've been you're lesson.
If every card that was listed as mint or didn't post flaws graded a 10 then the business would be easy.
It's like a used car salesmen... you gotta know what to buy and you have to know how to sell it... don't blame someone for not doing the job for you.

Yep you got duped

Boo hoo, poor flipper

Lol true
Just return the card lmao instead of crying on youtube
Prob is too big to give you individual grades and flaws on cards.

I sell cards on eBay and honestly that's not really an honest mistake. As a seller I am very aware of the condition of the cards and it sucks but when it's not in good condition you have to post that information. You weren't really doing a service to anybody by blocking out the name at the very least you need to leave a firm but fair review so other people can be made aware including the seller.Just my two cents Good luck with your collection
Much appreciated man and yeah, I should’ve just disclosed who it was. I’m sure a lot of people already know but by me not letting everyone know, it doesn’t help 🤦🏻♂️
dont i agree
@@thecrazedcardz yeah for sure you should man I don't know who you were talking about and I buy cards all the time. I had a really good seller claim to have shipped a box of cards to me He never shipped it He was just keeping my money for a couple of weeks. Anyways things happen Hope you pull some bangers
I've never really had a bad experience buying cards on eBay. I'm just incredibly cheap and picky before I make decisions.
That’s a good trait
No biggie, if you have ever sold on eBay and had an idiot decide they wanted to return something even though there’s no returns, no matter what if you file right you will win and get to return it.
An example is a sealed hobby box I sold, the cardboard where it would flip up when opened to display had been pushed down at some point and wasn’t perfectly together, still topps sealed no dents or damage etc.
The buyer claimed it wasn’t the correct item as listed. The pictures showed it that way, it was the same box, correct description and year, Brand etc.
I said no to return, they never said anything ever again after filing the return, and over a month later, (6 weeks), eBay decided they could return it. I’ll post picture of similar box, for my example. If you figure out something stupid enough to complain about, eBay will let you return it!
If you said corner was bent, you get to return it, nm-mint is condition listed. It’s not getting an 8 with bent corner. FYI
Well can’t post pics but you get what I’m talking about if you ever opened a long flat hobby box, like 2020 bowman 1st edition draft. Etc
Thank you for the insight 🫡
