The best way to make money on cards is to have a bunch of cards you collected a really long time ago and then sell them for the preposterously inflated prices we see today. It’s an easy win.

People regularly pay like 2,3,5 bux for 20 cent cards from the nineties I notice

People all have dumb strategies, like loading up on some rookie, hoping he plays. Nope best way to make money. Buy cards for less than they are worth now, then sell them quickly for what they are worth. Do this quickly before the price drops.

Indeed, especially for the modern/less proven player. I'd be selling them as fast as possible.

Pretty much every card I pulled personally and quickly sold for big money has dropped from the prices I sold them for. Pull cards only when they are first released, immediately grade any big pulls and sell them quickly. I've been collecting since before the junk wax era and the baseball cards were from late 70s to early 90s... of the dozens of people whose cards were held for the future only a handful actually panned out...Ken Griffey Jr one the few...collecting is still a great hobby and you can make money but I definitely don't consider the majority of this stuff as investment pieces

I stumbled upon your page while sorting out a bunch of cards to get ready for listing. I primarily list entire runs of cards by the “u choose” method so that not only am I listing the good cards for player collectors but also the base cards for set builders and of course the more they buy the more they save. Has been successful for me especially the pandemic. Like you my wife and I have really good jobs so this is a way for me to build my collection for little cost. Most of my sets I built for Pennies on the dollar

Congrats on the "new" Ebay hustle! My favorite part is when you were talking about doing business while having other stuff on in the background, so many people just waste their time online & watching TV twirling thumbs! It's nice to be a little productive at least, and this is a great way to interact with the hobby you already enjoy, keep up with hobby trends and meet new people. That's the main reason why I'm here at least, have a great week and good luck!

Good info. Thank you. I just started selling some of my inventory this week and have 10 sales so far. I’m looking to source more inventory that will drive more traffic. Buying popular players from the 90s-2000s is a good idea. I was in college during that time and don’t have any in my inventory.

another awesome video. even better than the reselling tickets video. ive been selling on ebay for only a few years now, and i cannot stress buying penny sleeves, toploaders, team/slab bags, and envelopes in BULK! I need to look more into setting shipping and pricing rules for my store. ebay makes it difficult on purpose i think.

I agree, I had some good wholesale accounts for supplies but I haven't been buying much the last year. I'll probably get an order in once I know about how many cards I'm selling per day/month. I will say for some items - Amazon is really close to the wholesale price so it can serve as a good place to buy too.

I love that you mention the "per hourly" argument at 25:00 It's a love/hate with the hustle culture out there, but if I'm not working on the side hobby my time is literally worth $0 anyway. I've always told my son, even on the smallest sale, it's $1 I didn't have yesterday.

I think weekend sales are good because people are on eBay for fun after having a few drinks and buy more freely. I wake up to middle of the night sales most Saturday and Sunday mornings.

  • @andrewchevrier
    @andrewchevrier 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

It sounds simple but try to find something for nothing (well…..cheap) that you can sell for something. But I find it takes time to network to know where to look. By dealing with people, you get to know people in the hobby and see where there’s a good fit. Maybe you meet a guy who buys big football lots because he collects certain guys, and he is willing to sell you a good chunk of that lot for cheap. You have some inventory, and you see how much you have to sell to make money off of it. Keep track of money coming in and going out.

Pull every card that is worth at least a buck, and then just send em to COMC. If you put 200-250 into your account that should cover your initial costs. It costs 50 cents a card to upload, but they upload them a few cards at a time. So what you make on selling one card goes into uploading the next few. I've been doing this the past few years and I love it. The downfall is this is not the fastest way to sell them, but I think it's the best way to capitalize on what you have.
The fastest way would be to get a good overall value of your cards and then list em at 80% of what you think they are worth. If you can sell em to a true collector they'll be happy with that. If you sell them to a dealer, expect that he will come back at a price closer to 60-70% of what their value is. Good luck!

99% of my items are buy now/offer. My problem is buyers like to offer 50% of my asking price, which I politely decline. Depending on the item if they offer 75%-80% then I’ll make a counteroffer or accept.

When you print out the labels for shipping do you use bubble mailers or regular envelopes? And how does that work does the money deduct from the cost of your overall net sales or do you pay at the post office for each order? Sounds cheap! Would appreciate your feedback as I didn’t hear you clarify all of your shipping process in your video. God bless you and the family!

Great video. You mentioned something about allocation. Not sure exactly what that is.. but does that explain how people like PackMan are opening 6-7 figures worth of card boxes a year and not going broke? In theory opening boxes is a loosing game long term, but I was wondering if it's simply being made up for by TH-cam earnings or if something else is going on. (Maybe allocation = Panini/Topps is sending him free boxes to hype them up?).

When I'm building the listing from a 'sell similar' item I search lowest Buy-It-Now price and get a sense what the lowest 3 or 4 cards are listed for. With Jordan, you can price a bit higher if the cards are mint. For cards with noticeable flaws, I try to price at the lowest price.
