I know Amjad since 2006 when I got engaged to Emmet in Karachi Pakistan I'm only girl in my family among my 9 Brothers & all of them are musicians. My brothers were against our marriage I asked them why this is oh he's getting married to you to get a green card then they find out he is already a US citizen so I look at them and they're like a clown long story short back to amjad my brother-in-law was a really close friend to him we got married in 2009 but doing our engagement when I'm just saw me first time he called me his younger sister on the day of our wedding he was invited prior 3 months in advance and he totally forgot he need to attend function then my brother-in-law all and ask hey I'm yet where are you he says I'm about to perform a function he says you remember the function and money but you forget your sister's wedding what do you mean he explained about me and he says never mind I'm canceling everything he came he performed he says he will compensate the money to the party and whatever everybody was pissed at other party he came but the third part it is the golden memory for me but it's not very pleasant very next day he got assassin in this performance the one she just watch look at them yet I'm just never make a bad face or like he's struggling to pull all the vocal cord he always a smile that's the big difference look at that is a very good singer but I don't know why he does to impress I'm just never had any intention to do that his uncle was a Sufism not Sufism he tried to impress I'm just like his family 7 under the old history in his family they don't try to impress nobody because they are sufis that's all I need to say Rodney to wake up smell some coffee I'm not saying he's back but he's trying to get attention and try to impress so much good luck with that brother no one has to trust or believe me but that's fine by me 2010 when we get married love you all good luck

This is a modern take on a 700 ur old form of music known as Qawalli. Both these singers come from families who have been performing this music at the highest level for many many generations. Qawalli combines the music of the artists and the lyrics are composed of centuries old transcendent and mystical poetry written by the great Sufi Saints. The whole purpose of the music is to unite the listeners and the performers to the Divine. Unfortunately singing this music can be dangerous in today's Pakistan. In 2016 Me. Sabri was asssasinated by the Taliban in Pakistan. He is considered a martyr for Truth by many.
God bless his soul. He was a true lover and servant of the Ahle Bait.

La tabla (en hindi तबला (tablā), urdu طبلہ, derivado de la tabla árabe que significa tambor pequeño) es un instrumento musical de percusión del norte de la India, que también se toca en Pakistán, Bangladesh, Nepal y Afganistán. Se presenta en forma de un par de tambores, compuesto por el dayan (tambor vertical) que produce varios sonidos agudos, y el Bayan que se utiliza para los sonidos graves. Amjad sabri at 45, was travelling in a car in Karachi's congested Liquatabad 10 area when two motorcycle-borne gunmen shot him in the head in a targeted terror attack on June 22, 2016. He was rushed to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

I can totally connect with your reaction to this song. I have listened to this song a million times and this is my reaction each time I listen to it. I feel like I'm getting elevated with each verse and I need an anchor to hold me down. This is how qawwalis work. They start slow and build it up and finish at the end. Usually they're longer.
And this was my exact reaction when I saw this for the first time. Couldn't breathe.. didn't know whether to smile, cry.. took me to another world.

The kind of this song is called QAWALI. The guardians of both singers are maestros of qawali. One is NUSRAT FATEH ALI and other is GHULAM FARID SABRI. Good to see this reaction.
The percussion instrument is called Tabla. The Tabla player is also a star in this performance .Without him you would not get the real test .

Pakistan is kings of sufi/qawali music and we have fareed ayaz and abu muhammad iqbal family, which his family is doing sufi/qawali music for like 800 years. i would recommend their coke studio songs "Kangna" or "aadam", its so spiritual. we also have nusrat fateh ali khan, the guy singing the song in the video rahat his uncle Nusrat. their family is doing it for hundreds of years.
It's so sad that such a legendary singer was assassinated! A great loss to the music industry. RIP Amjad Sabri
