It's heart breaking to know that Amjad Sabri did not live to see this epic performance went on air. This particular piece of music was 1st sung together by Rahat's unlce (Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan) and Amjad's father and uncle (Ghulam Farid Sabri and Maqbool Sabri respectively) nearly 40 years before this coke studio production.
There were 3 institutes in 1 video....2 were legends jamming magic....3rd was vocal coach.......yes you are the most amazing vocal coach.....your understanding of vocal neuances is mesmerizing
The bloody cool dude with glasses is actually a blind man but much talented some ordinary one. and that is much brilliant even then the singers . lots of respect for him.
Greetings from Pakistan. This reaction was phenomenal. I am extremely grateful to yourself for considering my request. The song was a Coke studio classic sung by two legends. The finer details provided in your reaction were simply amazing and out of this world. Praying for the strength of your channel. With warm personal regards
Yes she closes the loop, 😊 Damn right she's breaking down our impressions, i.e., the subject matter and ultimate goal of all the outcome from 700yr-old lyrics with an angelic melody composition up until the masterful performance with an amazing studio arrangement etc to reach out to the absolute eternity not only to us here now...🎉❤
@@ridafatimazuberi lol they also roused about IK using "hum dekhenge" because the song was used in a Bollywood movie, little did they know, the song was written by F.A Faiz, a Pakistani poet 😂. Like why do people attach flags to things, just enjoy the artist's work
I love your reaction, that make me smile again. You describe so good all of technic hidding behing of beautiful song. And you don't react, like 90% youtub react, at the same thing. You creat a great and technical content with world music, you give your experience of (fairy) vocal coach for every style of music and THAT was extraordinary. At the end of this vidéo i love humanity like you. Thank for that !
Awesome advice, thank you!!!! I am working on low-volume mixed, so your tips today are spot on! I learn so much from your analysis and voice recreations. Easily my favorite vocal teacher reactionist.
I can't express how happy I am that you reacted to this! Coke Studio Pakistan has two more versions of this song. One version is by the brothers Fareed Ayaz and Abu Muhammad, and the song is spelt slightly differently: 'Rung'. They also have another song called 'Kangna'. Both of these songs are my absolute favorites. I am pretty sure you will love them as well.
Two contemporary songs that I would recommend you to listen to are "Par Chana De" coke studio by Noori and Shilpa Rao, and the other one is "Allah o Akbar" again coke studio, by Shafqat Amanat Ali and Ahmed Jahanzeb. I think you will like them both.
I came upon your channel chasing Angelina Jordan reactions, and really really really enjoyed EVERYTHING about your analysis of her voice and arrangements (and you pure unfettered joy and delight)... and then TH-cam threw this one at me and I *SMASHED* that subscribe button within 30sec. I've spent the past 28 years - almost the entirety of my adult life - with Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Michael Brooks' 1995 album 'Night Song' as one of my top 5 albums OF ALL TIME, and I'm SO EXCITED to find that you're lending your knowledge of the human voice to include music from around the world on your channel. I don't even have to close my eyes to hear Nusrat's singing from that album (and others I found afterwards) and it's so exciting to me to run across someone showcasing the unbelievable talent of his nephew. edit: I'm not even 10min into your reaction yet, and I already know that the minute it's over, I'm going to re-watch it immediately.
You are such a nerd about it, I freaking love it. You exactly know what's happening, unlike a lot of other westerners who react to this and not realize how good this masterpiece is. Love ya
This beautiful qawwali, 'Aaj Rang Hai Ri Ma Rang Hai Ri,' was written by the legendary Sufi poet Amir Khusrow in the 13th-14th century, capturing the timeless essence of divine love and spiritual ecstasy
When they sing the singers, do harkats in between, which are spontaneous. Harkat means subtle variations when performing live. That’s why the dude looked a bit worried
Wow, What a Reaction.. You are really a Fairy of Voice, You are truly absorbing the the Vocals, its good to see your Reaction, The Core Part of Sufism/Qawwali is that it Hits direct to Heart/Soul and offcourse Goosebumps :) .. i am proud to be a Pakistani and its Musical Industry..
Interesting you mention the support of the full body vs sitting. Qawwali has always been sung seated, however in the least few years I’ve noticed a trend of qawwals giving public performances standing up. Not sure how I feel about this.
I am so glad that you have considered my request for this song though it was long awaited 😂. Secondly my recommendations are a bit different because i recommend a song which is musically a master piece. And at last i think you will definitely enjoy a coke studio session Naina Moore by Javed Bashir and Akbar Ali who are both brothers but have different textures in their voices which makes this song something you should definitely listen to.
I loved the fact that out of all the reaction videos I've seen so far, you actually tried it out yourself... Really loved it... You also have such a clear voice, you should try some of these songs actually, we'd love to see
24:46 Yes, it’s the tone of the word and how it’s said that may change meaning. Urdu language in itself is a very lyrical language and is suitable for the nuances you mentioned. Simply put, the poetry and what it means, changes the tone, dictating the understanding of the verse being said. Some parts of this very original poem may actually have a somber meaning if sung differently.
But it's not urdu it's braj bhasa , Amir khusro was braj speaker and he used Farsi words in-it The Urdu Language never used word tero ( your ) more ( mine ) they all are more khadiboli words , which none used in Urdu or Hindi ( which are desendant of rekhta language)
There is a vocal tradition here going beyond Western comprehension. These singers are trained in experience and mentorship learned over 700 years. It can't be matched. Analyze it as best you can, but finding equivalents in your world will be difficult.
The voice droping thing you explain is not some relaxing technique but he is actually Pronouncing "ALLAH" which means GOD and its a call for reminding us all for his greatness in this song "Qawali"
Love every bit of your reaction. The way you understand every minute detail to how passionately you enjoy it. From your understanding of music to praising where its definitely due. How you get overwhelmed with some parts, i felt like are you my clone or my twin.keep it up
Awwwwww...i like this 😅 your reactions are probably the best till now - 21st July 2024. You truly stood up with your reaction and analysis of a song/hymn (only God knows) and gave me a very new perspective.
Thanks for all the clarifications, i noticed the speed change inbetwwen the song but i didn‘t understand the diffuculty of it or the troubles the choir had. As always it was a pleasure watching you analyse pakistani music. These types of music is close to hindustani music from the north of india but there is also karnatic from the south of india, i would love to see you explore them as well
Thanks for posting! Your ability to break-down vocal techniques and explain them in a clear concise way is really unmatched. Would love to see your reaction to Lorna Shore's Pain Remains trilogy!
I'm not that familiar with pakistani or indian music but based on all the things i've listened to, using the major and minor third in the same melody is what you hear alot in indian and pakistani music and boy that feels strange.
Hi there smiling eyes. If I may, I would like to brag on you for a moment. Your passion and knowledge of technique is soooo phenomenal. Really brilliant, not to mention your method of delivery of content. I am such a fan. Because of your influence, I find myself listening to vocals in a new way that actually brings more to my appreciation of vocals than just being moved in my experience. A better appreciation for the artistry of a performance. Thank you for continuing to expand my musical pallete.
Thanks for shining a light on this music. I personally never listen much to the lyrics of any song but more to the sounds. Much of the time lyrics are largely irrelevant to music other than giving a clue what its about. Same with this,.. the music speaks for itself.
Recorded in a single take, AS A PRACTICE SESSION. Coke Studio never disappoints. Also, an important note: there is no concept of "mixed" or "head" or "chest" voice in Indian/Pakistani classical music. There is only your voice.
I am so in love with your ability to pick nuances in global music. My 2 cents several Pakistani Coke Studio performances you’ve reacted to are modern renditions of “Qawwali”a type of Islamic devotional or “Sufi” compositions. These have a trance-like quality to them, just what you need in a devotional setting like a Dargah / Shrine
Have been listening to Vocalists from couple of days now. Today i came across you and your reactions. Spot on i found what i was looking for. i mean someone like who knows where, how and what reaction to give. i love when you actually teach the difference. i just loved facial reactions and spot on things in your own voice. you are absolute gorgeous :)
Your comments are priceless. It is good thing you know music otherwise, this kind of music pass over the heads of most. I must say sweetie you are infectious in a joyous way. Remember, the URDU language is one of the most beautiful language for poetry along with Persian and Arabic. This particular rendition is in very old Urdu, which is not spoken now. Written 750 years ago by a very famous Poet Amir Khusro of legendry reputation. Therefore, it is worth paying attention to the lyrics not just the signing. As the Singing goes, I am sure I don't have to say to mention to you, these two are rendering a masterclass, which you understand better than I do. Keep the good work going. Your smile is worth millions, like their singing is. Priceless.
Another amazing thing about this performance is that it was supposed to be the final rehearsal before the main recording, guess what, the producers decided they never needed any more recordings.

Just a sad anecdote - the other guy Amjad Sabri, a legend, got shot dead months after this recording.
And indians also stole his kawali illegally.
