You heard two of the perfect voices of south east Asia singing over 500 years old tune and lyrics... it is a marvel you have seen :)
People may not realize how complexed and difficult this art of singing is. Look at what they are doing with notes, rhythm, vocalization, scales, delivery and scathing (Raga), effortlessly. This takes years and years of practice to achieve such level of mastery.
Both of these singers are legends.. Pakistan has been giving such gifts to world for so long... what a brilliance at work, what a craft, what an art and what a mastery!! On top of all that, you're reacting to this without knowing the language?... amazing. It only takes true artist to understand other artists... great reaction. Thank you for your genuine appreciation and expressions!!. Loved it.

But this music originated in India Pakistan was created in 1947 , but the sufis in Pakistan still carry the tradition of this type of music qawali, if you to Delhi sufis play this music regularly it’s spiritual music to connect them to the Devine

This is sufi mystical music from subcontinent these singers are legends of Pakistan and abida perveen she is greatest female sufi singer of all time and by the way this mystic poetry was written 600 years ago by hazrat ameer khusru who is one of greatest sufi poet of all time

This is mind-blowing,I react a lot like you,Ceci. Almost tearing up when I hear this,it hits you straight in your heart. People who gives this a thumbs down must be dead inside,total lack of a soul I guess.
It is devotional music, you are experiencing it with your heart Peter not the ears and this is why it affects you.
You hit that nail on the head. These songs touch the entire being of a person.
this was a jam practice session, they never recorded the final version...because the practice record itself was perfect. you still are listening to extremely luxe, marketing, largely impure versions of this music, for the real fun of this music, read a bit of Sufism and then you will know, why Abida is like that...these are renouncers, Quakers for love....Sufis...

I’m fascinated by your understanding of voice modulation as a vocal coach. You and I don’t understand the language but the music transcends boundaries of languages. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is the nephew of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (d. 1997 age 48) who was widely considered the greatest qawwali singer ever....his Sufi devotional performances were an absolute treasure. Wikipedia has a discography for those interested in such a masterful voice.
The song is usually sung in Raag Yaman Kalyan and the language is Braj Bhasha. Beautiful composition and excellent execution by two legendary artists from Pakistan.

This is the magic of Sufi Music in Pakistan, Rahat is v good but Abida Parveen is the master of Sufi music as it was not only you but she takes millions into world of trance that we never knew existed, every time i hear her i get goose bumps there is something so amazing about her voice full of emotions and it was nice to see your reaction and recognizing it, she is for female singing what Nusrat was for male singing (Uncle and teacher of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan who even sung for Hollywood). @@marcinwietrzyk8572 The poetry is from the "Sufi" sect and the form of singing is called Qawwali. This has origins in (Northern)India+Pakistan. Ustad (=master) Rahat Fateh Ali Khan's uncle Ustad Nusrat Fath Ali Khan was a legend and International star in his time. There are recordings of him singing in concert and little Rahat accompanying him. Cheers!
