Great episode! My great-great-great-grandfather was a young teen in Virginia when he joined the American forces. He worked on building bulwarks and went back home when Cornwallis surrendered to Washington. He wrote his autobiography at age 90, recounting his life’s journey from Virginia to Georgia to south Mississippi, where he became a farmer and a pastor. He then wrote about his spiritual journey, of being convicted of his sin and being granted salvation. (He stayed up late one night lying on the floor of a cabin where he was being put up for the night, and he started reading Bunyan’s Grace Abounding that he found on a shelf, which played a pivotal part.) In his subsequent study of God’s Word and seeking out sound preaching, he was introduced to the Doctrines of Grace, which made him angry at first but he eventually grew to love and preach until his death in 1855. It is a remarkable story. A little over a year ago I was privileged to sit in the worship service at one of the churches he founded and pastored, close to where his homestead was. I saw his worn Bible that they still have on display and saw his handwritten notes. Fascinating!

The founding father's were masons and not for God. Thomas Paine for example wrote a heretical essay/book against God. Don't be fooled that we are a "christian" nation, because we are not. We were not founded by Christians just most Satanists masquerading as angels of light.
There is a great video about who the founding father's really were on youtube somewhere.

The United States has been such a gift for the Christian faith. No other nation has offered:
    1. Greater freedom to teach and defend Biblical doctrines
    2. Greater funding and commission of missionaries
    3. Greater defense of God-endowed human rights, nor
    4. Greater flexibility to live up to Christian values and ideals on a macro scale
For the Christian, the United States is not an idol to be worshipped but is absolutely an ideal to be revered and fought for.

Zach makes a big mistake at 34:20. Washington, Jefferson, The Lewis family, the Clark family, and the Lee family are descendents of Cavaliers, not Puritans. They sided with the king in the English Civil War. This is significant because the Puritan/Cavalier conflict is a precursor to the divisions of the Civil War.

Jesus said to obey authorities like police, pay your taxes ect for they are out there for justice for god alows them in this temporary world. but I don’t know about celebrating a world country that won’t exist once gods kingdom is here. In the end it’s man made, voting for a president isn’t biblical if you are a true servant of Jesus because that should be the only kingdom you devote your life too. It is said man shouldn’t govern man like the Bible says, it leads to what is happening now it’s been corrupt and will KEEP becoming more corrupt through every year we celebrate it just like the Bible profitized . Every nation on top will fall just like the Bible has profitized with ancient Egypt, Asiria, Greece Ancient Rome ect. If you’re on top one day even if it’s thousands of years later you will fall. And so will this nation. I don’t know but I truly believe yes we are the “greatest nation” for now but it will come with a consequence just as it did to past nations and I believe it will be with the coming of Christ since this nation if extremely lost to god with all the lgbt nonsense in schools to kids that god knows shouldn’t be exposed to. All in all if we follow a nation and celebrate it we should be celebrating more our kingdom coming of Jesus Christ. If not you are hipocrite if you choose to still live to vote or celebrate for a temporary nation. Like this video says “do those actions please god?” It’s something for all of us to meditate.

It seems so far like no nuance allowed or any look at the New Testament picture we have in acts. Peter doesn’t seem to fight for his right to live and provide. Now I’m not against self protection or even war but so far they seem to not be addressing the book of Acts and the lack of violence from Christians
I want to hear someone talk through those tensions

    • @LD-cx4hw
      @LD-cx4hw 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@Postmillhighlights he states its sinful to not provide for your family. It is a very black and white statement without looking at the whole body of scripture and other examples we have of apostles not providing for their family and actually dying for sharing the gospel with a wife at home such as Peter (at minimum he had a wife possibly children too). There seems to be a lack of discussion about how does the tension of what they are claiming and what we see in the book of Acts and how the apostles and others in the early church died without armed resistance for preaching the gospel.
There doesn't seem to be teaching in this video (i only got 3/4ths through so maybe its still to come) about when is it appropriate to not fight back or not provide for your family. Again I think its not the norm by any stretch, but the absolute language they use about not providing for your family and how sinful it is seems to not consider parts of scripture.
When is it biblical and when isn't it. I first heard the revolutionary war possibly wasn't biblical from John McArthur when he clearly said it wasn't biblical and any blessings are not because of their decision but in spite of it and God still blessed the US through it. (this was in his first conversation with Ben Shapiro probably 6 years ago or so..?)

Hate to say it but this was a history lesson and didn’t really cover the biblical side. I guess I was expecting more of the just war theory to be touched on. Maybe a future episode? If Bahnsen and Wilson already addressed it might feel like saturation but you guys draw your own crowd, too, you know.

I think it’s unfair to characterize the founders as bloodthirsty, trigger happy, warmongers. They petitioned against war against the crown at every chance they could, while civilly asking for just governance from the crown and parliament. The Declaration of Independence wasn’t signed and sent to the crown until a year after getting shot at by red coats. They feared war and didn’t want it, but when the crown and parliament refused, they defended themselves.

It's another man made holiday, more than likely it has pagan roots. The Lord made it clear in the Old Testament he does not want things given to him that have Christian origins. It goes without saying that Christians should not partake in pagan celebrations either.
Been a while since I researched this, believe Independence Day was on the 2nd but they changed it to the 4th for reasons...something about the dog star Sirius and/or Midsummers something.
