If you're on a Samsung tablet, there's a switch in most drawing apps for "pen only" turn that on. The app will only recognize interactions using the S pen. Gives the same effect without all the steps
Guided access is a really useful tool for me, it also turns off motion so I don’t disconnect from online things if I accidentally do something that triggers a screenshot

The only bad thing is that you need to brute force the phone to turn it off then reconnect the touch and then turn it on because if you do it while it's on it will bug out
Dude why would you mess up the internals of your tablet just to do this? Some apps come with a touch lock feature. Just download an app like that and import you’re drawing into it (assuming you didn’t originally draw in it) and turn touch off. You’ll be good no need to go play with internals.
for all the people saying you can just take a screenshot, you really cant. especially if you put your hand on the paper while you draw. it will zoom in or slide also i bet this works but i have an android 💀
You can absolutely take a screenshot. Simply put your phone into a mode where pressing the screen won't make it do anything, this is absolutely possible in literally every art program.

For people who want to save this 1. got to settings accessibility 2. find guided access and turn it on 3. set a password for guided access 4. turn the brightness of ur ipad all up 5. size the reference 6. press the top part of ur ipad 3 times, choose guided acess from the pop up, youll see the guided access interface 7. go into options and turn touch off, click start the the top right, start tracing 8. when your done tracing press the top part of your ipad 3 more times, put in your guided access password and press end. Update:i cant find guided access in my settings

Yes!! I’ve been doing this for sooo long and it’s a lifesaver, I used to always end up so frustrated with the screen moving so much, nice to know that other people know this aswell!
It does move, I've tried it often. Usually the problem is zooming in or out, changing the scale of the picture. It's a little problematic when this happens again and again, and you have to adjust the picture to the paper each time. What I do is try to trace over very lightly without letting my hand touch the screen, but that way I only get the outline or the bolder lines; the details are lost.
This is also how you use photos to create a sketch! You can use a posing doll or animal figurine to create a proportionate sketch. Just repeat these steps and draw a circles over the head, feet & hands, butt/hips, chest, and joints. You can also overlap several photos to create a pose you want, without having a posing doll or anything. Then you just connect the circles with straight lines.
It's so inspiring seeing you get better and better at drawing stylised characters. Also, that's a very useful trick! I encounter this problem a lot too. I don't have this same device though; would you (or anyone else in the comments) know how to make it work on, say, an android tablet...?
i think android and ios both have “scanning” capabilities. for an apple product you can open the notes app and take an image that it will edit to be a more clear digital copy. my partner’s phone is an android and he can use a similar feature right in the camera app. if i’m feeling try-hard i take the photo myself, edit it and usually i completely redraw over it if i can’t access a scanner.
