This is a simple tutorial I use all the time to enlarge and project photos on to canvas so that I can draw and trace round lines to get exact measurements.
I hope this is helpful!

The whole process is an art by itself 😂
I used this process on a painting I'm getting ready to do and it worked so wonderfully.
I googled how to enlarge and project onto canvas without a projector and it led me to you! This is the exact low tech solution I was looking for! 🎉 Thank you for this video!
Amazing, I love that!! 💜
Out of all the methods I’ve seen this is the most clever one! Trying it out today.
amazing! 😁 thanks for watching!
Completely agree! I can’t wait to try it out !
You're a bloody genius! Thank you! x
Very much like the old masters used to do. You have brought a very affordable way for anyone to enlarge an image. I use a projector, but I am lucky to have one. This is so nice for those who want to enlarge images.
Thanks Ray 😁
My Dear Friend! My overhead projector fell and stopped working. I have been searching all morning for a work around. After tedious DIYs, apps that are bogus, and a great deal of frustration, I found your video! From one artist to another, much thanks!🤗💜
Aww I'm so pleased! Glad I could help ☺
I was looking at buying a projector, but definitely going to give this a go - thank you Emma! I have lost my confidence with freehand drawing, so this is very useful for me.
Oh that's great! I'm pleased you found this video before spending money on a projector - it really is a good method 👍🏻
you are right freehand drawing is not easy, it takes plenty of practice. Vincent Van Gogh said, to be a Fine Art painter, you have to start with drawing. Wish you luck with your paintings
I want to salute you for your ideas that are creative and helpful to many people.
Thanks :)
Ingenious! Thank you for sharing, you’re saving people hundreds of dollars on a projector 💚💚💚 thank you immensely! May you receive prosperity, wealth and large sums of money everywhere you go. Happy Holidays, Emma!
Thats such a lovely comment! Thank you 😊 ☺️
Brilliant!! I am a silk painter and I frequently need to enlarge my drawings to the proportion of the canvas I will be mounting my silkpainting on (photo>tracing>enlargement). This is by far the simplest, easiest, and cheapest means I have seen of doing that! Thank you for saving me $ on a fancy projector:))))
I'm so pleased this will help you and save money!! 😁👍🏻
This is awesome. I've been asked to do a human portrait. Animals are my specialty. Given the fact that the family member knows exactly what the loved ones looks like, there is no margin for error. This is brilliant.
thank you :)
That's an ingenious approach, I'm impressed.
You have me thinking now about how to make a version with up to a 24x36 inch canvas horizontally on a table with an Anglepoise or clip lamp so i don't have to crawl about on the floor with my bad back.
Yes amazing, it should work 👍🏻
You are a life saver!! I am making a display at work (Lowes) for the christmas tree tent area. I needed to project an image onto a fence panel so I could paint it on there. Our projector is missing and to rent one for a 20 minute job was crazy. I have tried some other methods and they didn't work. THIS WAS PERFECT!!
I can't thank you enough for making this video!!
Aww that's so nice of you to say! I'm so pleased it helped and that you didn't have to end up renting a projector 😁 I bet your display looks lovely!!
This really saved me spending so much money for an enlarger! I’ve been admiring the large canvas paintings of a dogs face on a large canvas in my vets office. I’m definitely going to use this method to Wow the friends
That's sounds great! I'm sure sure your painting will look amazing 😍
Simple and effective, I love the home made recycled cost free nature of your projector. Thanks for posting!
Thanks you 😁
0:48 Same Approach and Problems here! Thank you for this Video!
So creative. I was looking for a projector and never in my wildest dreams would have come up with this. Good to know.
Very smart idea, no projector ,no high expense. Ingenious, thanks for the tip.
Thank you for the no BS presentation. Well done
Excellent video! Camera Obscura, Camera Lucida and now we have Camera Emma. Old school projector. Thank you for this. The art to this is approaching it from the right angle so to not obscure your lines. That's a challenge. thank you for this!
Yes, its a bit of a challenge but easier if you can prop it up off the floor
So clever !! I am going to try it this weekend.
Love it. I am going to try it ❤ Thanks for sharing!

I’m not an artist. First trying to do something for my son. It worked so well!! It kind of made me look like a professional. Thank you!
That's great! 😁
This is brilliant! You legit made a DIY projector. I remember using overhead projectors in school back in the day. Thank you.
I just used this method and it worked great. Thank you!
This is such a great idea! I think I’ve heard of it before, but you explained it all so well. I trace a LOT, using carbon paper or just laying down a lot of graphite or color pencil on the back of the photo or image, bc I just don’t want to take forever before I can even start painting…
the drudgery of erasing, drawing, adjusting, erasing, again, and on and on before I can even get get going with the best part. Thanks so much!
Yes I totally get the struggle of years of tracing and drawing graphs and erasing so I was so happy to find this technique and I'm glad I can share it with everyone 👍🏻
That is just so cool!!!! I've been using grids for yrs, but feel I must try this. Thank you!
Thank you so much. This is incredible! Other ideas I've seen with cardboard are quite involved, so I don't bother. Yours is so simple and works. Thanks again.
