As a lifelong fisherman and avid catfisherman this is literally my dream. I'm extremely jealous of you and hope maybe one day I'll have the opportunity to do something even half as cool. Great content, you are putting out gems!
If you want to catch redtail cats without the cost and logistical difficulties of a trip to South America, they are stocked in a lot of Thai fisheries.
Fish right in the edge for them - baits 30cm from the bank in 40cm of water is good enough.

@@RiverCertified Oh you will man. You've been there and loved it and you won't be able to get those hard fighting fish outta your mind. So you'll wanna relive it. Plus now you'll know more of what to expect, be better prepared for different situations and have several different strategies to try now that you have got a feel for it

I'm late watching this one, but it was an incredible trip from my couch. :P Those red tail catfish are really pretty, and they seem to keep their colors even as they get bigger which is nice. Maybe you'll get to go again next year!

Awesome. I chased peacock bass in south Florida for two days of my vacation (from the bank) and got skunked.. you're using them for catfish bait. Count your blessings. LoL

We get all them fish up in Guyana where i come from. Lau Lau is what the Locals call Shovelnose Cats. Man, Arawana as bait? Super expensive in the pet trade.
Sorubim is the coolest looking catfish I have EVER seen! Did you get to taste a red tail while down there? Or any of the fish? There were no CCC portions of the video. Great series none the less.
What's the Amazon equivalent of hybrids busting shad?

I didn't see one that was the same as a school of hybrids, but definitely saw a few individual payara wrecking bait fish.

There's something special about our catfish too. And taking a warm shower. I definitely appreciate those a lot more after this trip.
Did you guys try much for any smaller species? there's just so many different kinds of fish down there.
The smallest fish we tried for were yaro. No microfishing for me.
I remember an episode of River Monsters and Jeremy Wade spent weeks looking for Piranha that size lol.
