I have an E820. I've had it for 4 years & never had set it up properly. It was free watch from our local casino. It has a nice Chrono & is gold color. I finally set everything up properly, so now all i do is make sure it get's enough sun. These watches are awesome.
I have always been able to set the time on this watch, however, at some point I set an alarm, so for the last 3 years it has chimed at 8:50 am every morning. Absolutely love this watch. It has kept perfect time for over 11 years and been on approximately 150 scuba dives. Now I actually know how to use the chronograph thanks to this video 😂

This tutorial was dead on. Citizen did not make this watch easy to figure out. This tutorial easily covered all the details that the manual made vague. It took me several times to get it right because my watch was off, but the all reset and zero took care of it. thanks for the post.

I bought this watch in 2011, and it came with a small CD with this video on it. However, it uses Flash Player, and won't work anymore due to Microsoft not supporting it anymore. Glad I found this video online.
I do love this watch. I have to look up this video every 6 months for daylight savings adjustments though. Its actually not all that bad if all you have to set is the time and not the calendar or anything.
GREAT video. Thank you. FYI - I have the BL5200-52a and these instructions work to set that watch as well. Unlike some of the comments, I kind of like the challenge of setting this watch. But, without the video, I'm not sure I would have cracked it. Great job.
KEY TIP EVERYONE!!! For those coming back every 6 months for DST, do not use TIME mode. Instead wear watch in L-TM by default. In this mode, changing watch by any number of whole hours is done by pulling the crown to 2nd click and rotating it. Can't be any simpler! It won't mess with the seconds, and it's great for traveling to different time zones!!!

Very nice video. First, I read the instructions for movement 81, and of course some things did not match up with the watch. The 82 movement instructions match my watch perfectly. Set everything, and everything works perfectly. Wonderful watch. I like those type of things.
I really like this watch, but it is a little tedious to set and cumbersome to use the different modes. I am so very glad that someone produced such an easy to follow quality video guide. Almost every time I need to set or change something on this watch I come back to this video. Regards, Ken

I fell in love with this watch when I saw it online. The clincher was the price with a 50% discount and now I know why........hahaha. Its a very complicated process designed by a fiend. I have to admit that once it is set up properly there is no need to worry about anything. It is a magnificent watch.

If people read the video description and skipped to the right portion, instead of trying to fumble through setup there would be no issues! Really easy to figure it out now. Anyone having problems following pretty simple instructions? better buy a mickey mouse watch!
I own one of those and I've been reading the comments and honestly, other than the "all reset and zero positioning correction" procedure (@5:35) which I had to do once upon purchase of the watch (by the way...an authorized Citizen dealer should do that for you!!!), it is not that complicated....But then again, I had to come here to set my watch to winter time....
Absolutely awesome, and for me, timely video! I won my E820 in a poker game from a dude who had no clue how it works. I figured, with my background in aircraft avionics from the Air Force, that it, like most things, would have instructions to be found. I learned quickly, to my great frustration, that while the front, and crystal, fortunately had no scratches...not so for the back of the watch. I could make out everything, except the four Caliber numbers! I could make out the 0,but it was a toss-up on the others! Once again, showing my 'lot in life', living proof that Murphy's Law is totally fact. I had managed to occasionally get the time set, thru some trial & error, but it would eventually lose time. I had pretty much given up on it, but decided to give it one last go today...always knew it was an E__0, had to be...story short, I ran E820, found this awesome video, realized it needed to be zero', and was given an awesome step-by-step...! Can't thank you enuff, I can now add this rugged, handsome watch into my rotation! Thanks again friend!
Glad I found this video. The booklet is useless. It doesn't explain this at all. We speant 4 hours trying to set this watch. Using this video it took me 5 minutes.
I didn’t sign up for this when I purchased not 1 but 2 of these, with one stored away in original box and one in constant use I didn’t really know what am up against until I smashed the screen during lockdown. With glass debris holding up the arms I stopped the use and pulled out the fresh new box but is dead and not moving. I read on the manual to place under light for few hours to wake up and now is up but time and date are wrong. Here i am looking for help to set time but after watching this video I have made up my mind to take them both to a specialist watch shop for repair and setting as I cant get my head around any of these

I shudder every time DST rolls around. I bought one of the original eco-drives in '99 and wore it for 15 years and loved it. This model was a gift and it is a disaster 1) because I'm left-handed and 2) because I need a friggin' video to operate anything.

I tried doing the all reset anyway. I first pulled the crown one click, moved the mode to chr, then pulled the crown again. I pressed both buttons for 3-4 seconds and nothing happened. I pressed the bottom button and it started moving again. Then did the proper all reset and set the time. If it doesn't work try pressing the buttons in different combinations for different amounts of time.

I like this movement. I have it in a relative inexpensive BL5259, but this also comes in twice the price of that, in the Octavia series. Very nice movement, very capable, lots of features, and very accurate, on par with Seiko. It's growing on me, and I start loving it.
Hi my leap year which is set at 1 for 2021 once I put the crown in at the end the leap year resets back to zero! I have completed a zero reset as well but no difference can you please advise if you can
If there is one thing that lets this watch down it's the alarm. On mine the alarm works, but is virtually inaudible, which is a pity as the rest of the watch is great.
It's a lot easier to set the watch once and wear it only 6 months out of the year. I've been a computer systems engineer for years and this watch is needlessly complicated.
While this is a good video the best one is the one that pauses after every step which this one does not do. You have to manually stop it. That one will show you what to do and then it pauses. When you're ready, click it and the next step is explained and so on. It's great!! Otherwise this would be a difficult watch to set by trail and error.

I have followed/completed the reset instructions several times for a Citizen Eco-drive E812 watch, but the leap year setting always returns back to the 1 position (as if it's a leap year). Anyone know how to fix this issue?
I didn't know that I needed an advanced college degree in horology just to set a time and date, or I would not have bought this watch, which does get get reviews if ever you manage to set it. I think I have it set now by some miracle and I am afraid to touch it again. The date window is so small that I can't see it anyway. What is the purpose of all this complexity in a wrist watch? I like the eco drive feature, which is why I bought a Citizen, but from now on I will stick to something less complicated.

Well said. I have had my version of this watch for three years and it is superb. Setting it up is so easy, I can't understand all this whining. I have only one small complaint, the alarm could be a little louder, easy to sleep through it.

Citizen Eco-Drive i have a j304 wr 10 bar and its stopped for a while. i try charging it and when i pull the crown out and return it the second hand moves for just 3 or 4 times and stops. its been doing this for a while and have no idea how to reset or fix it, any suggestions?

I'm having an issue with the day of month function. The 24 hour hand is correct but the day of month doesn't change until the 24 hour dial goes past 1200! I've zero'd the watch, reset it more than once and it still does this. Any suggestions? Thank You!
V MAX1200 . Stop the watch, turn it back one hour, then restart it. It's not rocket science. I've had this watch three years, therefore I have managed to set it to BST and GMT six times every six months without any difficulty whatsoever. Surely you're not expecting the watch to do this on its own?

Very complicated to set. Not user friendly. Video is great. Had to pause it a bunch of times. Also, I thought the date was supposed to account for days in month. I was in June and it went to 31. I'm either incorrect or I set it up wrong originally.
why is it when I try to reset the watch It wont go to O position? This is what I did. Pulled the crown once and point it to the CHR, pull the crown out again indicates reset right? everything turns but don't end in 12 oclock position why?

It has a leap year setting because the watch has a PERPETUAL CALENDAR! Once set it will not require any further adjustment. Oh, and by the way, cut out the obscene language. It doesn’t do you any favours.
It is a nightmare to make the time changes especially when travelling overseas. Inevitably one accidentally changed the date and then had to go through that process as well. I’m going to get a simpler watch for when I travel overseas!

It took me a hour to do it on my own, but then it died after a couple of days of not wearing I had to re-adjust. Glad I found a quicker method!

If you have set the watch correctly you have no need to touch it again. That's why it has a PERPETUAL calendar.

I've read that astronauts train in dealing with complex situations by trying to set this watch, to get them ready for space travel.

I have followed/completed the reset instructions several times for a Citizen Eco-drive E812 watch, but the leap year setting always returns back to the 1 position (as if it's a leap year). Anyone know how to fix this issue?

I didn't know that I needed an advanced college degree in horology just to set a time and date, or I would not have bought this watch, which does get get reviews if ever you manage to set it. I think I have it set now by some miracle and I am afraid to touch it again. The date window is so small that I can't see it anyway. What is the purpose of all this complexity in a wrist watch? I like the eco drive feature, which is why I bought a Citizen, but from now on I will stick to something less complicated.

@@scottjames6037 I can’t believe the number of people complaining how difficult it is to set up this watch. It should take no more than five minutes to complete the set up.
Everyone whining about how difficult this is to setup...I bought mine in 2009 and almost 10 yrs later I'm good with it...problem is that everyone has 1 pill solutions to everything in life and when it comes to using your brains and learning something new for a change ..y'all malfunctioning .. Not the watch 🤦
Well said. I have had my version of this watch for three years and it is superb. Setting it up is so easy, I can't understand all this whining. I have only one small complaint, the alarm could be a little louder, easy to sleep through it.
OMG! The way these guys complain about setting this watch. If you would just read to understand the manual, or just listen you can be successful. Babies! By the way, the perpetual calender is the most useful function for this type of watch.

I agree completely. Maybe they all kept their receipt so they can return it if that bad for them.. 3 eco drives here and love them all.
Great , but I have tried three times to set my watch , instead of it changing at midnight is does not change until 10.00am the next day

Citizen Eco-Drive i have a j304 wr 10 bar and its stopped for a while. i try charging it and when i pull the crown out and return it the second hand moves for just 3 or 4 times and stops. its been doing this for a while and have no idea how to reset or fix it, any suggestions?
The large chrono second hand on my watch froze, but the watch continues to tell the correct time, but is unable to be reset... anyone experience this?

I'm having an issue with the day of month function. The 24 hour hand is correct but the day of month doesn't change until the 24 hour dial goes past 1200! I've zero'd the watch, reset it more than once and it still does this. Any suggestions? Thank You!
Just how do you set the watch from summer time to winter time,in the UK we have to turn our clocks back by one hour,mine is not doing that.
V MAX1200 . Stop the watch, turn it back one hour, then restart it. It's not rocket science. I've had this watch three years, therefore I have managed to set it to BST and GMT six times every six months without any difficulty whatsoever. Surely you're not expecting the watch to do this on its own?

If anyone's watch has completely stopped. First recharge it for 4-5 days either in the sun or under a light bulb 6-10 inches away. Then after that, mine wasn't still moving. I tried doing the all reset anyway. I first pulled the crown one click, moved the mode to chr, then pulled the crown again. I pressed both buttons for 3-4 seconds and nothing happened. I pressed the bottom button and it started moving again. Then did the proper all reset and set the time. If it doesn't work try pressing the buttons in different combinations for different amounts of time.

Very complicated to set. Not user friendly. Video is great. Had to pause it a bunch of times. Also, I thought the date was supposed to account for days in month. I was in June and it went to 31. I'm either incorrect or I set it up wrong originally.
If the watch is indicating 31 days for June you have set the watch incorrectly.
why is it when I try to reset the watch It wont go to O position? This is what I did. Pulled the crown once and point it to the CHR, pull the crown out again indicates reset right? everything turns but don't end in 12 oclock position why?

It has a leap year setting because the watch has a PERPETUAL CALENDAR! Once set it will not require any further adjustment. Oh, and by the way, cut out the obscene language. It doesn’t do you any favours.
It is a nightmare to make the time changes especially when travelling overseas. Inevitably one accidentally changed the date and then had to go through that process as well.
I’m going to get a simpler watch for when I travel overseas!
