      Not at all..
Every fuel knoe that by far the largest part of the cost of an EV is in the battery.
Battery pack prices came down by 15% just between Jan and October last year, and that doesn't even include the improvements in performance of those batteries.
Nor should you expect the prices of EVs to remain stable, industry experts expect battery pack prices to continue to nosedive, and that their performance will continue to improve.Currently, LFP batteries are getting near to the performance of LMC batteries of only 2 years ago, and LMC batteries continue to improve even over that standard.
Of course, none of this takes into account SAIC's SS batteries, BYD's short batteries or CATL's CM (condensed Matter) batteries, all of which are likely to put significant pressure on the "traditional" LMC and LFP battery prices.

Over here in the UK an EV costs on average £10.000 more than the equivalent ICE car. Who's going to stump up another 10.000 for a vehicle waiting for hours for it to charge up, and then find out it costs more than fuel.😢

Too much unnecessary technology, too much weight, too much money. They're all dampening sales.
Market saturation - we had to hit that point sooner or later. Here we are. Outside of the very wealthy, not many people are buying every two or three years. Entry-level buyers can barely afford a decent used vehicle.
Warranty versus payment schedule - how many new car buyers want to be making payments after their warranty expires?
Vehicle choice - do you want a big, heavy pickup truck or a big, heavy SUV? Manufacturers have decided what buyers want, and that's why lots are packed with pickups and SUVs that have been there for months. If America won't make cars anymore, the overseas manufacturers will.

I have seen on other channels that Stantis is forcing dealers to offer 35% off lot cars to get cars to sell. But this only seems to be an incentive in the US, as Canadian dealers still have cars marked high. In Canada, pricing is further augmented because the government has been unable to rein in its budget spending and has devalued the dollar further against the US counterpart. Canadians cannot afford US goods because of the floundering exchange, further widening the affordability gap. This is all due to the Liberal party, which has a massive spending problem, regardless of who their leader is. The entire party must be reset and return to working with the voters rather than using them as their cash cow.

After paying $2,000 to install a charging system in your garage . . . If you HAVE one. What about apartment dwellers who park under a covered car port? Can anyone imagine going to a charging station and spending an hour or two waiting for your battery to recharge? How about commuters who drive to the train station in Greenwich CT in a $50,000 EV, park it, take the train in to NYC, return on the train and drive to an apartment with no charging station. Then, take a valuable Saturday morning . . . . EVERY SINGLE WEEK . . . to go to a charging station, in the middle of a cold and snowy winter, and sit in your car for two hours waiting for it to charge? . . . . . . . I for one can't imagine that.

We ordered a new ICE car in August 2023, no delivery update until first week in January, then it suddenly materialised. If the auto industry ever wants to sell a car to me, or others like me, they will have to remove the digital and connectivity technology built into their products. Automobiles record and store information such as breaking, steering, and acceleration actions, personal information, mileage, locations visited, and when. Bring back vehicles where the computers only manage the engine and transmission with no internet connectivity. Remote access or driverless features?Never. We should not need a laptop computer to repair a car. I drive a 2003 Ford for these and other reasons and will continue to do so as long as problems that come up can be fixed. It doesn't matter if manufacturers stop supporting older vehicles because the aftermarket parts market is huge.
Make cars that do NOT track owners and I might come back, but only if build quality does.

Not sure when you are talking about “market supply” which is the time period it takes your car to arrive from order to dealer, you describe this as “cars lingering on lots” which is precisely the opposite situation where there is an over-supply of cars nobody wants. The point you are making is that the long delivery time deters buyers, not that there is a glut of cars that aren’t selling in which case the market supply time would be 1 day.

They thought that by pricing them as IF you get a solid gold spare wheel rim with it, people would continue buying their vehicles. Well, that did not work out too well for them. Now they are paying the price. I own a 22 SQ5 which I bought "used" with 10K miles on it, at almost HALF the new price. I really like my Audi - and that's the only way I would buy an Audi - "used" - after the first owner (fool) lost a ton of money on it.

Those massive glorified trucks called SUVs consume a lot of fuel to run, and when overpriced, few will buy them and they deserve to disappear. EVs probably fit in short city commutes, but are not suitable for longer range driving. While nobody wants to talk about the cost of replacing their battery when time comes, that is significant for depreciation, so the future prospect of trading them for a newer model seems bleak. Virtue signaling with EVs is over.

In the US, I've heard there's a 100% US-imposed Tarrif mark-up for EVs, whereas in Norway (or Sweden?) new car registrations are around 90% EV. In China you can hardly get anything else and ICEs are dying out. Otherwise, I expect reliability and over-pricing of "premium" cars is a perennial problem, wherever you are.

The whole EV movement is a huge con. They might be cleaner to drive, but certainly not to produce, and as for battery disposal, what damage do you think that is doing to the environment. They are way to heavy and this impacts on the road, tyre deg etc and really not much use if going on long journeys, and rechargibg is more expensive than filling up. These cars are also way over priced and without doubt exclude me from ever getting one. Zero emissions is a dream but unachievable, although I think that the biggest pollution producers like China, UAS, etc could and should do a lot more to reduce their pollution.

This has been happening for decades. In 1955 the VW came here and went over like gang busters. In 1957 Ford announced a new model. We all thought Ford was paying attention and was coming out with a model to compete with VW. What do they introduce, a Mercury sucking on a lemon and named it after the idiot that came up with the idea, Edsel. It lasted for 3 years. It was a great car, just not what people were wanting.

With hydrogen motors coming soon, with their numerous advantages over EVs, I think that the only way forward for EV manufacturers is to offer them on a "No Deposit, Monthly Lease payment" geared to their expected battery life. When the battery 'dies', the vehicle is returned to the manufacturer and the lease is cancelled for no cost. This way, people won't lose a ton of money when they try to sell it as a used vehicle.
