In this era of globalization, when national borders are becoming porus as economic interdependency of states is rising, US under Trump has adopted a path of which is exactly reverse. More precisely a path of self isolation. But, is US that self sufficient that it can resort to absolute "exclusiveness" in present times? So the next obvious question is, why this abrupt change in US foreign affairs ? Perhaps the rising Chinese dominance in global market is the main abetting factor. During his previous term, owing the on going theft of IPR by the Chinese , Trump had avowed to "teach them a lesson". But Chinese too had adopted tit for tat approach, enhancing tariff on US goods in same proportion. When trade war had reached its peak, there was outbreak of covid. Whether it was an unintended leak from Wuhan lab in China, or was it intentionally planted, it is still not clear. But the fact is, both the outbreaks of covid, were during Trumps tenure. "War of economies" require a different approach; ie the will and the capacity to compete, and creating a global demand for its good. And this precisely Chinese have successfully done. Trumps the much quoted rhetoric of MAGA is both shallow and misleading. Actually the problem with Trump is, he doesn't have any solution to counter the challenges US is beset with. Hare-brained and a motormouth, he lacks depth of understanding. The fear is, his over assertive approach should not lead to any "war of attrition".

This is entirely misleading and deceitful. The Chinese tariffs are barely going to effect ~$15B, up to $40B of you include rare earth minerals at about 10%. Trump tariffed $450B in Chinese imports just about across the board. Canada and Mexico are already capitulating.

As an Australian - I support China and will buy Chinese products and boycott American owned and made products and services where possible.
