Cherry Bakewell Tartlet Recipe // Movers & Bakers

  • My Cherry Bakewell Tarts are delicious! Buttery shortcrust pastry, tart cherry jam and warming almond frangipane topped with icing and the obligatory cherry make these a bite-sized delight for everyone!

    INGREDIENTS
    For the pastry
    250 g (1½ cups + 1 tbsp) plain (all-purpose) flour
    60 g (¼ cup + 3 tbsp) icing (powdered) sugar
    125 g (½ cup + 1 tbsp) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
    2 large eggs, yolks only
    2-4 tbsp ice (ie very very cold!) water
    For the frangipane
    60 g (¼ cup) unsalted butter, at room temperature
    60 g (¼ cup + 1 tbsp) caster sugar
    60 g (½ cup + 2 tbsp) ground almonds
    1 large egg
    0.5 tsp almond extract
    To bring it together
    cherry jam/conserve
    100 g (½ cup + 3 tbsp) icing (powdered) sugar
    3-5 tsp milk
    12 glacé cherries, halved, to top

    My whole family have loved these for decades, my uncle even worked for Mr Kipling in England, bringing us boxes of these at a time.
    Now I can make my own! Uh oh, sounds dangerous!!!

      I did! My mom loved them & so did I. Normally we go to England every year and get them. But since corona we didn’t, so this recipe was PERFECT! THANK YOU

    Hello Movers and Bakers ( great name!) I have bought these from the local baker and they were delicious. I never realized I could make them, How silly hey. Im so happy to have stumbled across your video. I'm off to buy a muffin pan!

    I have left over home-made marzipan from my christmas cake... I'm definitely going to make these!!

      No greasing of the tin happened: once your pastry is baked, it’s dry enough that it will just slip out and not stick! Enjoy, and please do come back to comment how yours turned out! 😊
