bit of a tip. if you want to make the armor out of cardboard, you can make the panel lines by scoring with a knife and the running throught the line with a flat head screw driver
Your patterns/builds are definitely up there with those of the best propmakers :) One suggestion about the patterns though. Wouldn't it be easier to have the markings for the inward/outward beveled cuts at the in- or outside respectively? Meaning a straight line for the silhouette of the piece and the dots/dashes showing where the bevel should end. Not sure if that made what i meant any clearer, but it would show better how much to tilt the blade than guessing how much 40 degrees is. Just a thought, thanks for the videos anyway. Keep them coming, and once again - Your patterns are great!
Thank you! I understand your recommendation. The problem is that when cutting out the templates to transfer them on foam, you have to cut on the actual cut line so you'll lose the outward angle markings. The good thing with foam is that you don't have to be totally accurate with the angles. You can cut from 35° to 45° without any issues during assembly.
@@TristanMaker - You could cut at the outward angle markings and then bevel them to the silhouette line. I guess one could even make the bevels with a rotary tool if that felt easier
Love your videos man I’m planning on making my own cologne on with your templates also I just had the most mind blowing idea🤯You should make a clone jet pack
I was wondering how you got your rectangle piece to the knee pad so smooth I use my dremel and it looked all bumpy and I can see where I joined different size’s together
You can hide the seam from the stacked parts with flexible filler like I show in the painting video. As for the dremel, it just takes patience and practice. But you can make the surface smoother by heating it with a heat gun and rubbing it against a metal surface while it cools down.
And another question. The superglue i use make the foam somewhat hard and brittle. I see you're using Gorilla superglue, that will not have that effect on foam, or?
Do you have any good tips to make extra details? Me and my group plan on being captain Rex, commander Cody, and commander bly. There’s quite a few details on the armor aside from the armor itself so what would be the best way to tackle those?
Heya, what size would you print out the templates for a 7yr old 120cm tall? And also for the helmet? Just bought the templates from Etsy can’t wait to start making it.
Hi, to know at what scale to print the templates, simply refer to the sizing chart located in the pictures of the listing on Etsy. After that, watch the printing tutorial video linked in the description of the listing on Etsy. All the information is there.
Are you able to sit down for awhile without the armor messing up or creasing and stuff? And if you say use the heat gun to fix it, what if it’s painted, wouldn’t the paint get messed up?
It's hard to sit with this armor, but doable. But I wouldn't recommend sitting for too long as it might add cracks or folds in the armor. The heatgun method only works with certain sealing products. Watch Kamui Cosplay's video on priming eva foam to learn more about which product would be best for you.
my daughter and i are going to attempt to do this for comic con, what paint do you use on eva foam, and great videoas have already purchased the templates
I was wondering how do you cut the pelvis and back plate as my daughters overlap. I noticed you said if they overlap to cut them but they are shaped so was wondering how would be the best way to cut them 😊
I'm not sure exactly, but with a 4x1 meter sheet of 8mm foam, a 2x1 meter sheet of 5mm foam and a 1x1 meter sheet of every other thicknesses specified on the templates, you should have more than enough.
I would like to create your clonetrooper-armor but for a 10 years old kid, is there a way how to recalculate all the parts to the appropriate kids size. Or do you already have the templates for a kid?
You can refer to the sizing chart located in the pictures of the listing to scale the templates properly before printing. There Will be some adjusting needed after building the armor.
You can print the templates on any size paper and using any printer. Check out the sizing chart located in the pictures of the listing on Etsy to find the scale that matches your size. Then, simply watch the printing tutorial video linked in the product description on Etsy. All the information is there.

Love this. Just bought the templates myself and am about to have a go. Just a question. all of these should be fine being printed as they are onto A4 standard paper? Im fairly new at this I apologise if it's a stupid question. Love the vid mate.
Yes you can print the templates on any size paper. Simply follow the printing tutorial video linked in the product description on Etsy. All the information is there.:)

You are an amazing young man. I am so grateful to how quickly you reply when I have become stuck.
I'm glad I can help!

That's true. It would be really helpful for using the rotary tool
Incrível ! Parabéns Tristan !
Thank you!
Awesome job! 🔥
Thanks man!

Thanks that metal bit sounds good I just been using my fingers ❤
Do you have links to the zipper you used or to the Velcro you used?
Hi, superb work, do you sell completed builds?
Thank you! Unfortunately no, I only sell the templates to help you build your own armor.
And another question. The superglue i use make the foam somewhat hard and brittle. I see you're using Gorilla superglue, that will not have that effect on foam, or?
It does make the foam a little brittle at the seam, but less than the typical superglue that comes in small tubes.
@@TristanMaker - It doesn't hurt to get a bottle of it and try, i guess ;)
It's been working great for me, but contact cement is always better if you need a strong and flexible seam.

How much $ is spent on foam alone?

@@TristanMaker alrighty, thanks!
Is it the right shape for a white clone trooper?
Yes, this template works for any movie style clone trooper.
my daughter and i are going to attempt to do this for comic con, what paint do you use on eva foam, and great videoas have already purchased the templates
Cool! Watch my painting video for this armor, I explain everything
Do you use contact cement for all of the connections? Is there any other viable option for gluing the pieces?
Most of the time I do. You can also use super glue or hot glue, but contact cement works much better
I was wondering how do you cut the pelvis and back plate as my daughters overlap. I noticed you said if they overlap to cut them but they are shaped so was wondering how would be the best way to cut them 😊
The way I did it was by cutting the front piece. Just follow the curve that the edge has instead of cutting it straight.
Amazing
Thank you!
how are you gluing in your velco? Contact Cement?
Yes, exactly
Where do you buy all the foam?
any tips for sizing the templates?
Can you link all the tools you used or mention what you used please
What size rolls of eva foam are required for this project? I saw there are multiple thickness of foam also so not sure how much to order.
I'm not sure exactly, but with a 4x1 meter sheet of 8mm foam, a 2x1 meter sheet of 5mm foam and a 1x1 meter sheet of every other thicknesses specified on the templates, you should have more than enough.
Cool
.
Thank you for doing these
Wow
Hi Tristan, great tutorial, do you have the umbra arc addons in a template aswel?
Thanks, unfortunately no, I made them from scratch
About how much does it cost for the materials to build something like this?
Would the heating work with a normal hairdryer too ?
Unfortunately a hairdryer doesn't get hot enough for that
What density foam do use?
I like medium density, but high density works great too.

tristan Question how can i attach the Armor to myself?
Watch the painting video for this armor. In the second half, I show how everything is attached together.

I don't have a respirator so can I use super glue
Contact cement is a much better option, so I highly recommend getting a respirator, they are not that expensive
Where I can find this drawings??
and may i also ask for how tall people was this made?
How much foam do you need
Hi there! I wanted to recreate the armor. Bought the patterns already. I wanted to ask if yopu aprox know how much foam you used?
