    Hey Tristan, if you want to create good weathered paint chip marks, I recommend applying liquid latex with a toothpick over the black before you paint it orange. Then you can use your finger or something similar to rub it off after it dries. Creates pretty realistic scratches and paint chips.

      I agree. Frankly, he has basically convinced me to try my hand at more elaborate end results with EVA. Twelve years ago, I made TC boots with EVA velcro'd onto $14.99 tennis shoes from Walmart. Painted with latex white paint for walls. Looked like vinyl or lower grade leather once completed... Sadly, my computer was stolen 3 years ago and I did not have a great many things with no back up... lost forever. Pics of all my versions of boots lost forever. But, now this young man made putting a full TC suit assembly taking only a couple of days. And it looks amazing. I now believe in what he is espousing.

    I’m in the process of cutting out my armor pieces now (with a MGS1 Solid Snake inspired paint job once that’s done, hopefully in time for NYCC), and I was wondering what kind of jumpsuit would you recommend for underneath the armor?
    Also, what should I do about making the shoe covers, as they aren’t included in the files from Etsy?

    • @TristanMaker
      @TristanMaker  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For the undersuit I just used black pants and a black turtle neck shirt.
      The shoe covers are simple trapezoidal parts. You should be able to make those easily without a template.

    Did you use metal paint as part of your weathering? On the clone armor forums several years ago, the members argued if metal paint was ok.
    My opinion, and extrapolating a bit... Maybe clone armor could be lamination of impact resistant plastic, plasti-steel, and some sort of metal... So, I used a silver Testor's metal paint pens then a black paint pen for scorch around the silver edges .. then wood stain to simulate oxidation (or aging and/or rusting). I could find detail and very subtle weathering.

    • @TristanMaker
      @TristanMaker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I used a chrome paint for the scratches because I like the look. But as far as I know, clone armor is just a type of plastic that comes in white or black for the umbra ARC trooper.
      If you look at the clones in Battlefront, the armors have scratches that are the same color as the surface, indicating that the material is a white or black plastic.
      But no cosplay has to be 100% accurate, so just have fun and find a finish you like, just like I did. :)

  • @waileredits1889

    The armor looks amazing. Im trying to make mine but white, what white spray paint would you recommend to use?? And would you recommend a different colour base seal or does that not matter?

    • @TristanMaker
      @TristanMaker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cool! You can use grey plastidip (3 coats) or watered down modpodge (5 coats) to seal the foam. Then if you want to use spray paint, the rust oleum 2x line works great. You could also use good quality acrylic paint. After that you can seal the paintjob with rust oleum 2x clear in matte or satin.

    Hi I am new to this hobby and I love the look of this armor! But i have 2 questions about it: can you sit in it comfortably and not damage the butt and back plate whiel sitting? Dose it get hot in the armory fast?

    • @TristanMaker
      @TristanMaker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome! Unfortunately sitting in the armor is really hard, but doable. And depending on how you sit, you might damage the butt piece a little bit.
      And if you have already worn an armor before, you'll see that this one doesn't get as hot as others because there is a lot of air flow. If you have never worn an armor before, it's gonna take some getting used to how hot it is.

      I order my foam from True North Cosplay. It's medium density foam.

    I don't see this template in your Etsy Shop?.. only a regular clone trooper..

      Yes, that's the one I used to make my armor. The template doesn't come with the ARC trooper parts since I quickly made them from scratch.
