    EVA foam is a amazing material it can go from a soft foam material into a strong plastic

    I’m sorry if this is a dumb question, but the heat gun makes the foam fairly solid right? Like it wouldn’t really bend/look like foam after it’s painted, is that correct?

    Really great videos, I’m building this now. One request for future efforts - if you could please slow down once a piece is finished so we can see what it should look like would be great. As it is, it’s very hard to freeze on the half second clip of the final look for each individual piece. This is meant constructively, not negatively. Love what you do!

      The rotary tool can't be replaced by any tool that isn't more expensive. But you could use the rotary tool to carve in the details instead of using the woodburner.

      There's a lot of room inside the chesplate so in most cases you won't have to modify it at all.

    Do you sell templates separately? My costume for SWC only requires hands and forearm armour and this seems to be the way to go rather than buying 3D printed ones for £40~ each

      Cool! I'm not sure about the size. I would recommend printing at the scale that matches you height. (Scaling chart in the pictures of the listing on Etsy) Then Add material to extend the parts that are too small, just like I showed in the video. :)

    Fun fact, just a question, but when you wear the armor, do you have to wear straps and buckles to hold it in place or is it just a snug enough of a fit?

    your templates are good i bought them and i made the shoulders and one bicep so far also i’m about halfway done with the helmet too also how do i make the forearm pieces fit to my arm my hands get in the way

      Cool! I would recommend making the part bigger by adding a strip of foam along its lenght. You can add upholstery foam inside to fit your arm snugly.

    Excellent video, good job, one question, do you make these suits to order and can you ship them outside your country? For example, how much would it cost to make the dark vader one, I have the helmet and the sound box but I am missing the bib, the boot protector, the wristbands and those things, the accessories including the belt, how much would it cost, greetings and thanks for answering

    Great video, I'm currently in the process of gathering all the materials together to build this :) I also already have your templates but I wonder, how would I print them when I only have A4 paper available? And do you have an idea how I could add little stripes on the pauldrons like live-action Cody has? I think he's the only clone who has them and I'm not sure if it would be possible to burn or press them in.

      To print the templates on A4 pages, simply watch the printing tutorial video linked in the product description. All the information is there.
      You can use a wood burner to carve in the lines, or you could cut out those parts and glue them back in 2mm lower.

    Stupid question. Any idea how I could adapt this for a large chested female? Have a group that are gonna be Storm Troopers and I don't wanna miss out.

      There are no stupid questions! There is already a lot of space inside the chestplate, it doesn't sit directly on my chest. I guess you could make it looser by not cutting the material on the side. You could also modify the templates so the upper chest pieces stick out a bit more. :)

      Not at all. This armor reduces mobility which makes it dangerous to wear in a sport environnement.

    I really wanna built my own armor with your guide but i think that the foam pattern are too big for me to fit in because im 5'4.
    How can I make sure that the armor fits me properly ??

      You can totally scale down the templates to fit you properly. In the pictures of the listing on Etsy, there is a sizing chart that shows at what scale to print the templates for each height.
      Then watch the printing tutorial video linked in the product description to know how to print the templates at that scale.

      You totally can! It is an ambitious project, but if you give yourself enough time to not rush the build, you should be able to make it. Take your time at every step, and if you are not satisfied with something, redo it. :)

    Barge cement is too toxic for me to use. Would silicone glue work?

      Unfortunately no. You could use hot glue or superglue, but your seams won't be as clean. Silicone glue will not work.

      If you mean before painting, you can use barge thinner. But make sure you have safety glasses and gloves when using it, since it's pure toluene.

      Thanks, it's mostly 8mm foam, with some other thicknesses. All required thicknesses are specified in the product description on Etsy and on the templates directly.
      It took me around 2 months to make the armor from start to finish working part time on it.

      I would recommend cutting them open along their lenght and glueing in a strip of foam to make them wider.
      You could also remake them scaled bigger

    can i use 5mm or 10mm foam instead of using 8mm?

      If you can't find 8mm foam, 10mm is the best alternative to keep the armor sturdy.

    I'd be interested in knowing how much foam is needed if you're using the template at 100%. I'm currently not sure how much EVA foam to order in 😅

      3 months late but you could always translate the templates to paper, adjust it for your body, and then that will give you a good guess of how much foam you'll need. I'd recommend getting a little extra just in case though.

    Is this the same for sintra (pvc) or do i need other templates?

      I'm sure some parts would work, but maybe not all of them. You might need to modify some parts of the template if you use Sintra.

      Hi, I'm not sure exactly, but with a 4x1 meter sheet of 8mm foam, and a 2x1 meter sheet of every other thicknesses specified on the templates, you should have more than enough.

      Unfortunately the 501st doesn't approve armors made from EVA foam.

      A 1mm difference in thickness is totally fine. I sometimes use 5mm instead of 4mm or even 8mm instead of 6mm.
