While many people (myself included) have been going nuts over what Tebogo might do this year in the 200m, Knighton cannot be forgotten. Not only is he the reigning silver medalist, but having only ever competed outdoors as a teenager, he already has run the seventh most sub 20 races of any athlete in history at 17 (half as many as Bolt's entire career). He also already has the 5th fastest average of his top 20 races, only being behind Bolt, Lyles, Johnson, and Bednarek. He accomplished that all as a teenager, which is absolutely wild.

FINALLY someone who saw what was really going on! Knighton ran the curve so fast and completely dusted Kendall Williams to the point that he made Noah Lyles run off far too early, that’s why Kendall Williams couldn’t get the baton to Lyles in time. Lyles messed up. Lyles realized that Knighton completely blitzed Kendall Williams, and in order to not start too far behind Fahnbulleh, Lyles started running off too early and tried to go at the same time as Fahnbulleh did, but Knighton was the right distance from Fahnbulleh, Williams was still a bit too far off Lyles when Lyles started to run!

She’s definitely gonna be in the relay pool. She’s splitting 49.3 in the 4x400. That is faster than Abby Steiner 4x400 relay split in Eugene world championships.
And although she’s in the outside looking in. She could steal a 200m spot if no more than 2 athletes are in sub 22 form like last year. She could definitely get a 22.3 down to 22.1 or lower by June considering the 22.3 was her season opener.

@@kc5466 Hope I'm wrong, but feels like a year too early for JaMeesia to make an individual US Team as Gabby, Abby & Sha'Carri if healthy will have a little too much for her esp after a long NCAA Season. The likes of Kayla White, Brittany Brown & Tamara Clark could also be a factor like Kayla was last year in making the WC 200m Team. Re Abby, don't forget that she ran 48.78 & 48.92 splits for Kentucky in that '22 NCAA Season but had run 50+ races by the time she got to Eugene WC where she split 49.99 in the 4x4 Final. Britton in that same race split 49.39 which was slower than her 48.60 split for Arkansas earlier that season, so gotta hope that South Carolina manages JaMeesia well this outdoor season 🤞

However, I got abby in the same type of situation that I have McLaughlin and Elaine in. They’re all great athletes making a comeback but no one has any idea what form there gonna be in. And if not at the top of their game, there are athletes training to take their spot.

@@actual_random I'm not sure fastest curve means "greatest turn runner". I'd argue that the runs where athletes get their 200m PB are the runs where they ran the curve correctly. Erriyon is slower in 100m than everyone on the list above, & yet he has a faster 200m PB than Gay, Norman, & Dix. Also, of the 5 athletes you wrote 3 of them this was during their PB, however the other 2 are not. Walter Dix ran 19.53 with a slower bend than his 10.11 bend & ended up with a faster time, same with Tyson Gay when he ran his PB.
Now, I don't think that I agree that Erriyon is the best corner runner ever, but I'm not sure the stats you showed are that relevant. Yohan Blake has a better PB than everyone other than Bolt, & has a 19.44 finish as well. Even though Blake has the fastest 3rd leg of a 4x100 ever, better 100m & 200m PBs than everyone that isn't Bolt, he doesn't have an opener in the top 5 because he runs the 200m curve at better pacing than most of the above athletes.

There's usually about a 0.5-0.7 second discrepancy between the 100m bend and straight for the 3rd leg. Hence why Blake's 3rd leg somewhat makes sense since it's 0.66 seconds fast than his 9.75
If we used Blake's difference for Lee then he would've been in *9.25* shape at that moment!! Using the 0.7 we get a 9.29!!! 😬

My high school (Kearney High School in Kearney, NE) won 16 State Championships between 1994 and 2014, and set the state meet team scoring record in 2008, and my track coach had a fantastic philosophy that works great if you can get kids to buy in. Figure out what a kid's best race is, and then move him up one race. So if you have a great 100m athlete, run him in the 200m. You have a good 400m athlete, run him in the 800m, and so on. What he knew, and is absolutely true, is that you can't coach God-given speed. You can get an athlete in shape, and you can marginally improve their speed or explosiveness, but a 10.5, 100m athlete is never losing to a 11.2 100m athlete in a 400m if both kids have the same buy in and train equally hard. My point is. Yes Knighton, and Lyles especially should be considered for the 400m relay, because they both have something you can't coach, SPEED.
