and you haven't even gotten to young Phoebe Gill in the UK, who just turned 17 & ran a 1:57:86 800m and broke a long standing, 45 year old W U18 European record - not to mention hitting the Olympic qualifying standard. It's also currently joint 2nd fastest w's 800m time outdoors this season - just unreal running on her part!

Razorbacks four women under 50 for the first time.
For a person who is obsessed with how well the field run, not the person who crossed the line first, that race was a timeless poetry in motion.

Then we have imo the best championship runner (Andre De Grasse) who never disappoints on the biggest stage. Orogot was my highlight simply because he finally delivered a time that reflects his potential. But that also has a lot to do with the lane draw. He was in lane 7 and the guy in lane 8 always starts out the blocks like a bullet. I knew that there’s no way Orogot was not running sub 19.80. Let’s hope he runs sub 19.70 in the ncaa finals

Sears might need to work of relaxing a bit when she runs. Running too tense can cause cramps and other injuries. Her potential is still high, running 10.7s is elite

17 year old Phoebe Gill running 1:57.86 over 800m to break the European Under 18 record set 45 years ago by an East German by nearly 2 seconds. Her time has only ever been bettered by Chinese athlete Wang Yuan, who set the world U18 record at the Chinese National Championships in 1993. This was the meet where Chinese athletes coached my Ma Junren set 11 Asian records and 3 world records, before a rash of failed blood tests resulted in most of his athletes basically disappearing off the scene.

Least Favorite Race- Womens 100m since I was rooting for Sears and Lyston to race at 100% but Lyston had her hamstring strapped and we all know what happened to Sears :(... Really hyped for Tobi Amusan, who's had alot of difficulties recently with her starts and honestly feels like she's been slept on abit after last year's disappointments but coming back from her trademark terrible starts to win with a WL against a class field bodes well for her olympic season

Give it another month to six weeks and we will begin to see the top sprinters and middle distance runners begin to emerge, getting ready for the Olympic trials for their Countries. Obviously with a view to peak at the Olympics themselves. Some Countries, notably the USA, will require that peak fitness be almost there for the Trials, given how difficult it is to qualify. Unless things have changed, their selection criteria is ruthless and is simply: Ist 3 at the Trials get to represent USA at the Games. (Providing they also meet Olympic qualifying times/distances) Yes, there is a little degree of discretion to make cover for the Relay squads but otherwise it is straightforward. It was often said that, for the USA, it was more difficult to place top three at the USA trials than in the Olympic finals, at least for sprinting.
Note: Top athlete Sprinters that emerged two months ago are handicapping themselves. Holding top form for 5 months is almost impossible. I'm really looking forward to these Games. As TRP has said, the Olympic battles will be amazing! Cheers.

@@efisgpr did they mention anything about the 60 or 200. Clearly now you see how ridiculous the comment was because you had to bring up other events to make your point.
I’ll play along. Abby Steiner is faster than Shelly Ann because she’s 10 years younger than Shelly and has a faster 200m and 400m.
So based on your logic Abby is faster than Shelly…right?

    Morales-Williams rocked the 400
    I’m not a 400 runner
Could he reduce his time a bit by working on his upper body form ? He seems to be twisting in his torso and also fighting a bit with his arm movement
Any thoughts ( and yes I know he’s world leading , just asking )

And dispite that she still ran 10.91 lol look at that top end how she closeddown on the girl Sears was neck and neck with.
