The thicknesses are one decimal place out: reMarkable 2 is 0.19in (4.7mm) and Kindle Scribe is 0.22in (5.8mm). The difference is hardly going to be noticeable.

This is my friend's second Kindle. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxOnUR4NaproSbBbD2sdI4XcDZ58Jz8GOx The first one which is about 5 or 6 years old quit charging because the bottom connector went bad. When I saw they upgraded to a USB C connector I knew it was time. I think the old USB Micro connectors are a PIA. Her new one is great. It synced right out of the box and connected to WiFi immediately. The thing is perfect! Sooo mine will arrive tomorrow. (Been reading off an old Fire) What bugs me are the reviewers that give this product one star because it didn't work out of the box or they were too dumb to figure it out. If it doesn't work send it back and get another one. It couldn't be easier with Amazon. Giving it one star because it didn't work says nothing about a good one that does work. I bet a bad one is one in a thousand or more. Give it a break...just get another one.

Great comparison! I would be very interested in seeing a hands-on review from you of the Kindle Scribe when it becomes available. I've seriously considered the Remarkable 2 and have not purchased one so far mainly because it seemed a bit expensive for pure note-taking (I've been using my iPad with GoodNotes). In particular, I'd be interested in know how complete the Kindle Scribe ecosystem is and whether documents/markups can be transferred readily among the Kindle Scribe, Mac (MS365 applications) and iPhone. Thank you!

I have a few questions in regards to the new scribe, I am assuming that this is only in black and white then and not color like say the nova boox 3 color eink reader/writer. But I am also wondering if when in the note/drawing section if they have multiple "pen" options like can you choose between paintbrush, pen, pencil, highlighter, cal. Pen etc, also if it does layers and comes with say a shapes option like line, circle, squares etc??
I own many eink tablets but love my kindle! This device would be perfect if say all those above options are available, I may even be willing to forgo the color IF in the note taking section has all of these features but no one is saying or showing this. Please help cause I'm just dying to know lol!!! If you check-out the nova boox color 3 and see the options they have available in the note taking sections you'll understand what I'm asking. My fingers are crossed that Amazon got it right since they took so long to add this feature?! I'm guessing it's also not waterproof huh?? Dang it smh

My Remarkable 2 was delivered today--I ordered it the day before the Kindle Scribe was announced. Consider me unimpressed. I feel like I'm reading on a Kindle circa 2010. I can tell the difference in resolution compared to my current Kindle (which is the same as the Scribe) and I'm missing the backlight like crazy. Work purchased this for me as a reasonable accomodation for reading PDFs (eye tracking issues). It looks like you can't read PDFs in landscape mode, which may be the ultimate deal breaker. Syncing with the cloud was really kind of clunky, and it will not sync with Word no matter what I do. I'm glad I can get my hands on a Scribe before my 100 day trial is up. This thing is just kind of meh.

I don't think the 2 devices are alike. If you are a heavy Kindle ebook reader you would want the Scribe but at the same time, you cannot take notes on the fly on it. I bought a Remarkable 2 in January 22 that I use to take notes but also notes from physical books, if I hadn't bought a Paperwhite in July, I would have gotten a Scribe and keep both devices. On the design side, I don't find the Remarkable 2 so striking, people often ask me if I stole a tray from the canteen at work (we have small glass tray very similar), so it's really down to preferences.

I hope one day the Scribe will work with textbooks that are in the Kindle format. You click on a question, you write the answer on a note that pops above or below the question. To be honest, you missed a step - value for money. Given the base cost of a new reMarkable, £299, and a basic pen for it, £59, gives you a total of £358 for an 8gb Wacom eInk device with no backlight, and no eReader functions. The Kindle Scribe, with 16gb of storage and a basic pen is £339.99 for a Wacom eInk device with backlight and eReader functions. In terms of value for money the Scribe comes out on top.

The large black bezel jars my senses and the seeming lack of bezel (yes I know there still is one) on the Remarkable adds to experience and flow of using a paper like device. A colleague showed me the Remarkable II, and the "paper feel" texture really impressed. iPad pen is too slippery for me, but it's a light replacement for a laptop. But I get pretty much the same note taking power at a fraction of the cost with a Rocket Book. The Kindle reader is so much better than the Kindle app on iPad. It's devilish how these maker's create these circular majorities so not one of these dilettante devices will serve without compromise.

You can't mark up the books/text directly, There doesn't appear to be any kind of notetaking ecosystem/experience offered. It doesn't appear to have a pressure sensitive pen. Whether it's good for drawing or not remains to be seen, but probably not since that's not the focus. And for art you'd want layers and other complex stuff that seems unlikely to be included.

I’m now completely put off by your thin content - stop trying to review things you haven’t used! Ridiculous.

This is a retrospective look at the technical specifications, I’m a daily user of RM2 too

@@keepproductive you very rarely seem to demonstrate hands-on experience - and instead churn out thin content for the algo. It’s not cool.

I agree. A ridiculous video. Who cares about tech specs? I just care about how it functions and feels. Just more noise and makes your channel less helpful.
