One of the Boys is a good album. A lot of people appreciate it for the singles but the tracks are just as good in my opinion. Lost, Fingerprints, Mannequin and the title track are my favourites. Waking Up In Vegas should of been a number one in my opinion also.
One of the boys is and will forever be my fav katy album🥺 i dream of her returning to this sound! Fav song is i’m still breathing easily! One of her best songs
When I think of that album I think more of her guitar singer songwriter presence, looking back after prism i think it would’ve been a refresh for the public to see Katy’s follow up more personal edge back with guitar songwriter roots to balance out the polished commercial sound
A main issue with albums doing badly is the singles. The album gets judged way too much on the singles instead of hearing the fully body of work. Beyoncé said nobody’s making albums anymore, but Katy made this and it flew under the radar. The whole theme of the album helped me understand who I was as a teenager and the songs really spoke to me
If You Can Afford Me ❤️ I love One of The Boys, I seriously can’t believe how under appreciated it is 14 years on. It’s such a raw & uncompromising album, & I think the pop rock/pop punk style suited Katy’s vocals very well. I was so happy she played Hot ‘N Cold Warped Tour style at her residency in Vegas, it literally brought me to tears 🥹
one of the boys was katy at her most raw and unfiltered lyricism. she had the young angst and rebellion while mixing in her quirks and playful personality. she should go back to these type of songs but i doubt that will ever happen because shes matured past that. her ballads though such as thinking of you despite having moderate success is still played to this day and people relate to it because her voice is so expressive. just like how totga didnt top the hot 100 but is still regarded as a massive success for the general public. katy should do a ballads album because of her emotive voice and storytelling. she should stop trying to be the bubble gum pop star her label is pushing her to be and go back to her roots.
I have always said with my whole chest One Of The Boys is Katy's best album as a whole. Yes other albums have bigger songs than the ones on this one but this is a front to back album for me. I love this album and I think it definitely still holds up
This album will always hold a special place in my heart. I got it as a birthday gift in 2008 and I’ll always remember listening to it front to back every day haha. My favorite was I’m Still Breathing..Even at my young age I could feel the emotion and sadness in that song and I just really loved it. But the whole album and all the songs are just so special to me and I always have good memories listening to it 💕
It had two of the biggest hits of 2000s like I Kissed A Girl and Hot N Cold and now its having 1,7B views and 1,3B streams. Too good for an album that released years before streaming era and even TH-cam was not that popular in 2008-2009.
One of the Boys has Katy’s best songwriting. She has such heartfelt, clever, beautiful self-written songs in this album that her other albums fall short in terms of lyricism.
She had banger after banger on this album like holy shit. The title track, Self Inflicted, Mannequin are hits and then she has songs that take you through her heartbreak, like Thinking Of You, Lost, and I'm Still Breathing. She needs to go back to this sound!!!!
I recently gotten heartbroken & listened to the whole album of one of the boys for the first time & it literally helped healed me especially i’m still breathing & thinking of you… her most beautiful songs to date. Love the whole vibe & aesthetic of the album & definitely deserves much more praise.
Imo this album was her peak in songwriting - kinda similar to Taylor Swift. This is especially apparent in songs like Thinking of You, Self Inflicted, and Lost I wish she would've stuck with this form of songwriting tbh, and I also wish she'd release vault tracks like The Driveway (my favorite song of hers as a vault track 😭)
i was so in love with this album back when she debuted the pop rock sound and energy she had fits her so well and feels true to herself as kate hudson the person...the album also resonances more once you've moved out of your hometown and gone through similar experiences like katy did
this album is just amazing. My favourites are Fingerprints, Self Inflicted, If You Can Afford Me and Waking Up in Vegas. this album deserves more, it's really good and we all know her voice is perfect for the rock sound
Oh my God I just heard one of the boys and I fricking love it! The melody was so unique and cool! I can't believe this song wasn't more popular. Wow I'm in shock!
Her best work hands down. You could see that most of songs were written when she was in her late teens and they really do reflect that age. Also never got why ur so gay is trashed. As a gay man i really think it's funny and cleverly written, never found it offensive. My faves Fingerprints, I'm still breathing, Thinking of you (+ cup of coffee, Think i'm ready and brick by brick) are hands down her best songs
Honestly she should revisit this sound it really suits her vocals! Her vocals also sound really good with some covers she’s done like black and gold and hackensack so she should consider that sound too? She has a little jazziness too…
I think the reason why a lot of people do not care about this album that much are Katy's vocal choices. She sounds really raw and crude on some of the tracks and her voice sounds imperfect, which really deviates from her more "popish" and "clean" vocals on her next albums. Obviously this is a product of her wanting to go with that rock influence she had, but I know a lot of people who do not enjoy her voice when she uses it like that, which is a shame and reminds a lot to MARINA. I don't know why, and I enjoy PRISM, TD and Smile a lot, but OOTB really feels like true to who Katy is (the title track really sounds like a personal story, and something that she went through, Mannequin is such a clever and well written song, and even songs like Self Inflicted show how good Katy is at creating interesting and different storylines, she is literally saying her partner is toxic, but despite that, she chooses to go on anyway, and she does not portray that in an obvious way) . I feel like her next records are giving the "produced" version of what she wants to say to be able to connect with people (even deep songs like By The Grace of God, Choose Your Battles, Into Me You See, Only Love), while in this one she was given all the freedom she wanted maybe because her label did not care about her that much. She basically became a pop icon, and now she's "deemed" to only write catchy songs, which it's even affecting her own perception of herself (seeing herself as the clown of pop), I don't even know that given the freedom, she would able to write like this anymore. If you have never listened to this album, do it. You wil discover that Katy has more in it tahn just the pop icon we know and love.
OOTB is great and her most personal album. The only other album where she was personal like this would be Katy Hudson. Overall, I think OOTB should get more recognition
That album literally got her where she is and got her to perform at massive festivals back in the day. I think it did okay. Waking up in Vegas still slaps.
I've heard tens of albums but still, this album is still my favorite since years. I like the way she wrote it so much and the melodies of her singing. Specially in " self inflected".
Couldn't agree more with her lyricism prowess in this album. The message it conveys and story it has with sexuality, relationship, life, dream and crisis. It is her creme del a creme. Forgot to mention how she wrote thinking of you at the age of 16 Hwlp. She was so deep during her formative
@@qkbarbland4332 the song ur so gay 💀lyrics like "I hope you h*ng yourself with your H&M scarf" "I can't belive i fell in love with someone who wears more makeup than me" LMFAOO- if it gets resurfaced and discovered by younger people it will not be good for miss Katy.
There was no song I didn't like in this album. Ironically, faith won't fail from her Katy Hudson album has a grasp of that she input in one of the boys
One of the boys was my first record I got it was basically the only pop album I grew up on. Whenever I say I like Katy Perry I always have to mention one of the boys
Honestly, it’s not my fav because of the gay stereotypes and toxic masculinity messages in some of the tracks. However, I respect it for putting Katy on the map. But people do sleep on the album, especially on some of the obscure tracks like Lost and Fingerprints.
This era was an amazing debut era. She has two top ten hits which one peaked at number one and a lot of amazing tracks. It should be way more appreciated.
One of the boys!! is the reason I’m a katyKat legit I always go back to that album when I just want to vibe n let go also reminds me of the warped tour days this pop/punk music in trending now maybe Katy should go back to her roots I mean Avril n demi have!! Plus pop/ punk goes more with Katy’s voice n range
Hot N Cold and I kissed a girl are one of the most iconic songs of all time , and her voice is so pretty in lost 🤩Waking up in Vegas and thinking of you are good too 🤩But One of the boys is my least favorite album from her . Teenage dream is nostalgic and iconic with his 5 number 1 hits, Prism has her 2 biggest singles with over 3 billion views on youtube and her best World tour , and Witness and Smile( My favorite) are the most underrated album of all time 😫🤩
this album isn't underrated. this is her best album and i remember being obsessed with it when she released it ~2007ish. it was a huge album ...definitely my favorite of hers
One of the Boys is still more successful than her latest 2 new albums: Witness and Smile which is a total flop though. Katy in general flopped but maybe she can make a comeback with KP6 but depends.
One of the Boys is a good album. A lot of people appreciate it for the singles but the tracks are just as good in my opinion. Lost, Fingerprints, Mannequin and the title track are my favourites. Waking Up In Vegas should of been a number one in my opinion also.
Waking up in Vegas was a bop. Still one of my fav songs from Katy Perry.
@@joynerj.k.6215 It deserved a lot more success.

yess it’s so underrated

omg i just relistened to that album and it was good. Her voice was so strong and you can tell she really fits with that pop rock sound
I had no idea people don’t consider this as one of Katy’s great albums. Thinking Of You, If You Can Afford Me & Waking Up In Vegas are my favorites.

I agree that she needs to get back to the sound of OOTB. Its so good! The umph and growl she brings to OOTB is something that got me fully into her.
This is one of her best albums ever! It's very, very unique and genuine.
WOMAN'S WORLD OUT 11TH JULY! PRESAVE NOW!!! ONE WEEK AWAY FROM KATY'S COMEBACK!🧡🧡🧡

She also finally performed Lost after 10 years and said it was for the OG Katycats 😭😭😭

“Thinking Of You” was a master hit in Brazil she even has to add the song on the #californagirlstour

i really miss this Katy the pin up girl-old holly wood era looks from One Of The Boys
Fingerprints it’s my favourite song of her whole discography, I absolutely love it
one of the boys is my favourite album lyrically. i relate to every single track
Did anyone notice Kesha in the video for I Kissed A Girl?
i was so in love with this album back when she debuted the pop rock sound and energy she had fits her so well and feels true to herself as kate hudson the person...the album also resonances more once you've moved out of your hometown and gone through similar experiences like katy did

Katy Queen of pop
OOTB is great and her most personal album. The only other album where she was personal like this would be Katy Hudson. Overall, I think OOTB should get more recognition
I love Fingerprints and Self Inflicted so much, they are so underrated
I bought this CD on iTunes when it came out in 2008 and I still stream it to this day.
Katy Pleasure will always be my guilty pleasure because I remember that time in between One of the Boys and Teenage Dream. Truly, you had to be there
That album literally got her where she is and got her to perform at massive festivals back in the day. I think it did okay. Waking up in Vegas still slaps.
I think this is a great album. The pop rock songs are what best suits her voice imo!
I've heard tens of albums but still, this album is still my favorite since years.
I like the way she wrote it so much and the melodies of her singing. Specially in " self inflected".
If you can afford me is was a wastes potential.
This Pop Rock genre is really fitting for her.
14 years ago.... I remember getting the CD for my birthday omgggggg. BUT The album is timeless.
6:00 i would say Circle the Drain from Teenage Dream is the only song close to the style of One of the Boys, but the song is also underrated so...
True. Circle The Drain deserves more

i’m still breathing, thinking of you, and lost. so fucking amazing. 💔

Great video as always.
One of the boys was my first record I got it was basically the only pop album I grew up on. Whenever I say I like Katy Perry I always have to mention one of the boys
My favorite One Of The Boys songs are Fingerprints, Self Inflicted, Lost and If You Can Afford Me.
I haven’t listened to this album since 2012 lol, but I do remember when the singles initially released.
My favorite Katy album 💜
Her voice is perfectly suited for the music on one of the boys
my fav katy album
The writing on this album is actually pretty good! Better than on her subsequent more poppy albums
This album def has wayy more rock 🎸 influences
But love this video very insightful
This album is soo good!
Honestly, it’s not my fav because of the gay stereotypes and toxic masculinity messages in some of the tracks. However, I respect it for putting Katy on the map.
But people do sleep on the album, especially on some of the obscure tracks like Lost and Fingerprints.
One of the boys ❤️❤️
My favorite songs on the album are Lost and Waking up In Vegas because they are the best representation of the album in general .
