  • Who is a cyberbully?
    What are the motives behind cyberbullying?
    How do we combat against it? Dr Vanlal Thanzami is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at Monash University Malaysia. Since obtaining her PhD in Psychology from the University of Central Lancashire (U.K) her career in academia and research, first at the University of Central Lancashire followed by Monash University Malaysia, has spanned nearly 2 decades. Her research focuses on interpersonal violence, honor-based violence, cyberbullying, social media usage and psychological wellbeing, personality and evolutionary psychology. She has published in reputable international peer-reviewed journals and presented at international conferences. Her teaching expertise is within the areas of social, cross-cultural and forensic psychology and she continuously strives to educate and inspire her students through research-informed teaching. She is a member of the Honor Abuse Research Matrix (HARM) and the International Society for Research on Aggression (ISRA), and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (U.K).     The thing you said that really stood out to me is that we don't see cyberbullying in people with Machiavellian traits because doing that by creating fake accounts just to harass and chase people around the Internet to attack them is not something that's going to put you closer to your goals where the ends justify the means…there's no point in doing that to people it just proves that these people are in fact losers themselves that severely need help.
    it suggests that these people are, in fact, losers themselves.
    Excellent work I really appreciate this. It was very insightful.
