Thanks for this review, I'm going to buy this as my first machine as an aspiring artist seeking an apprenticeship! I really liked how you broke down all the pros, and listed the cons too. But like you said, not a deal breaker and I'm excited to try it out!!
Sir, this really is an amazing review. You just answered a ton of questions I had before I came and found this random video and I have been tattooing with coil machines for 20 years and you just blew my mind. Awesome.
Wait!!! Try using it with the foot pedal instead I swear it runs way smoother and the needle doesn’t rattle at all when coming out. I noticed that when I tried out both ways and compared them. Don’t know if you’ve tried that or not but yeah I really disliked how the battery made the feeling of my machine change especially since it was very top heavy compared to when it’s plugged in

I have one of this, i definitely struggle when using bigger needle groups, What wireless machine would you recommend for thick lines (14rs) around the same price range??, if theres any or what would be middle range?
Find one in the same price range with a 4mm stroke or a little larger. You get more “punch” of the needle grouping with a longer stroke. I think Dragonhawk has a few models with up to a 4.2mm stroke adjustment.
Now, this ladies and gentlemen is the best way to open boxes on video I am not kidding. This man opens this shit like it’s Christmas and he’s eight years old and it’s fucking amazing.

Hey there, great video. My lady recently bought me this same machine to replace my old coil machines and my Amazon tester tattoo pen style. They always had absolutely horrible connections well mine did. I’m very thankful for your video. It’s going to really help me make sure I don’t go burning out the motor in it trying to run some larger cartridges ( I’ll use the cheaper pen for that 😉😂). I’m new to rotary style but very excited that it seems to be a good machine. Lol may take me a bit longer to do old school bold lines I see lol. I very much like that you say it hits a bit softer, that was my biggest fear with rotaries not having that give that traditional coils have finding the bog. Thank you for your video and your insight keep up the great work.
@@SAMZIRRA maybe you just don't understand the question. But thanks for being a Negative Nancy. He said this machine can't really handle larger needles. It can over heat.
@MsJayrah he's just being a smarta$$... larger needle groups is what you meant and I understood what you were saying... Hes saying you don't use larger needles... But from what I've seen on recent reviews of dragonhawks newer machines like the dragonhawks mast racer you can use larger needle groups for lining but you will have to run the amps up to 7 to 9 amps for the larger liner groups...
4 Questions. 1st and 2nd you said anything over 8 its not the best. Is that just because you used the battery? Would it be different if it was plugged into power source? 3rd and 4th. And my next questions where to buy ink from and what black ink do you recommend? Afraid of getting fake ink
The power source doesn’t change the power of the motor, it has a set capacity regardless if it runs off a power supply or battery. Painful pleasures will get you sorted for ink. I reccomend dynamic black. Buy straight from the supplier, all the stuff on Amazon is fake
Im considering getting this instead of the pro. I noticed with the pro the needle retracts when its not running which was really good for me, no chance of needle stick when its off. Does this one also retract when off?
Hello sir. I have bought a tattoo machine from dragonhawk (mast ancher) and it has a metalic disposible grip. Is it super necessary to buy autoclave or Dry heat machine, or is it posible to cleat it and wrap it properly with out getting in to trouble? thanks
I was originally going to get a coil machine but last time I did that it was rubbish as I got it of amazon then I noticed tattoo artist started using rotary tattoo machines and I had one before that was a Hawink rotary from amazon again and it was trash but I'm between getting dragonhawk mast tour and a y22 I have no idea what one but I have got to order it from a tattooist store this time as amazon is not great but need advance is dragonhawk great for beginners thanks in advance
I have a machine not a dragon hawk. Mine goes by rpm. Trying to figure out how many rpm is equivalent to voltage. It’s starts at 5500 rpm -1200 rpm. Thinking about getting a dragon hawk tho
I love your technique. I learned so much just watching your video. I recently was able to get this tattoo machine for absolutely nothing through vine. I used to tattoo, but I no longer do that anymore but I am looking forward to trying this machine out so I can review it. What brand ink did you use when doing this design?
It’s because I’m using a 4mm stroke and floating the needle. When you tattoo tube to skin you don’t have to worry about depth but ink goes everywhere so you lose accuracy. When you float the needle ink stays in the tip but you have to control the depth with your hand.
With a traditional power supply, you got up to a higher voltage. Mine personally goes up to 14v. But this machine is only rated to handle a maximum of 12v, so you might risk burning out the motor
I bought this machine and have given it a go but it doeant seem to be drawing the ink, so cannot get very far with my line before having to re dip. Could this be the cartridges or type of ink?
Its definitely not the machine, either fake ink or bad cartridges or your finger covers the side hole, expired inks clog up quickly too and ive purchased fake inks that are more like emulsion or acrylic from ebay and amazon, it can be worth using a drop of "stay wet" or clear solution to inks if your inks are drying while doing big pieces.
what's the MAX size liner that will still be a good fit for this machine??? also what size liners would be ideal for for the tiny tats you were talking about ?
Can you review the Ambition Soldier? I've heard a lot of good things about it and I've bought one with some practice skins. Just want to know what the professionals think about it.
I have this same machine and Line work has been coming out good but packing color I’m having a problem with. What do you have it set to while you’re shading/color packing ?
I have this machine and my color packing voltage depends on my needle setup. Most times I run around 8 volts for packing color and it seems to do pretty well. As long as you have “premium” ink it should turn out fine.
@@Dropsen1 it’s definitely a beginner to intermediate level machine. It’s a 3.5mm stroke machine and is actually good all-around machine. What voltage are you running the machine for color packing?
I run a 6 but you could do a 7

When you float the needle ink stays in the tip but you have to control the depth with your hand.
