How to progress your TGU weight
To become 'eligible' for increasing KB size, first build to 5 sets of 1+1 in 10 min
    Method 1:
    Step 1
Replace any ONE set with a heavier KB. Complete 1+1 x 5 in under 15 min.
Get very comfortable with doing just ONE heavier set before progressing to the next step.
    Steps 2-5
Replace any TWO sets with a heavier KB. Then any THREE sets, etc until you are lifting the heavier KB on ALL sets in 15 min or less. Get very comfortable with each level before progressing
    Step 6
Reduce rest periods gradually, until you can complete (1+1) x 5 in 10 min or less
    Method 2: Can't TGU a heavier KB
    Step 1
Stick with current KB. Double the reps on any ONE set,
    5 sets total: 1+1, 2+2, 1+1, 1+1, 1+1 (12 total) and complete in 15 min or less
    Step 2
Add another round of 2 reps. Reduce sets to 4
    1+1, 2+2, 1+1, 2+2 (12 total)
Complete in 15 min or less
    Step 3
Add a third round of 2 reps. Reduce sets to 3.
    2+2, 2+2, 2+2 (12 total)
Complete in 15 min or less
    Step 4
    Reduce rest until can complete
    2+2, 2+2, 2+2 (12 total)
    in 12 min or less.
Then test if you can lift a heavier KB and use method 1
    Method 3
    Quick and lazy (intermediate/advanced)
    2-3 times/week
Stick to 10 min OTM format. Use a weight ladder (as in this video)
    Beneficial for all methods
Practice TGU on other days, using fewer sets and lighter weights.
    As a warm up.
    As a finisher.
    GTG throughout the day.
    Never go super heavy.

Thank you so much for the excellent tutorial, Kat.
I'm just adding Kettlebells (Simple and Sinister) to my 30+ year weight training routine.
I love your step-by-step approach and attention to details and form. It's absolutely invaluable.
    You are an AWESOME instructor!!

Wow, 32 kg, that is very impressive and solid performance. My heaviest TGU weight is 12kg. I have been practicing 12kg TGU for a few month now. It is definitely getting easier. However I don't know whether it is due to the improved technique or I am getting stronger. I am very pleased with myself no matter what. After watching this video, I am thinking to attempt 14kg TGU. I currently have 1 x 8kg, 2 x 10kg, 2 x 12 kg and 1 x 16kg. Now I have a very good excuse to treat myself to another kettlebell.

@@KatsKettlebellDojo Hi Kat, while I am still in the process of choosing a 14kg kettlebell to buy, I thought I would give the 16kg TGU a try. I did it, one 16 kg TGU on each side followed by 4 rounds of one 12kg TGU one each side. I can't thank you enough. I have not only learnt the good kettlebell techniques from you but also become more confident as a person since I subscribed your channel. It is amazing to see how the physical and mental strength are related to and interacts with each other.

What kettlebells do you buy in nz?

    • @KatsKettlebellDojo
      @KatsKettlebellDojo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Turt,
We have many different styles available in NZ. Equipfit kettlebells, similar to Kettlebell Kings in the USA. Elite Fitness, Solid Strength, Industrial Athletic etc. And of course the usual collection of vinyl covered and slightly lesser quality kettlebells from KMart. In other words, enough for all tastes and budgets.
We do not have RKC or SFG kettlebells here as there's not enough demand to warrant the prohibitive shipping costs.

@@KatsKettlebellDojo thanks Kat , I was thinking of going for industrial athletic but shipping costs 60 dollars so I will go with equip fit, do I get a discount if I say I got referred by you? 😅

Unfortunately not anymore, Equipfit used to be my sponsor back in the day, and I had a promo code, but I've moved on since then. Still great kettlebells, you will enjoy using them.
