Nobody else on the internet highlights and explains the (critically important!) fine points as clearly and concisely. Super helpful.

    Appreciate the vids.
I kinda like the way you have some of the videos in portrait instead of landscape. Usually it bothers me but it seems like an obvious match for certain kettlebell vids.

There's a lot more going on than I realize with these movements. Thanks for the insights 👍

must say thank you coach here in my country kettlebells are not a thing so there aren't too many coaches had committed all the mistakes you mentioned in this video and it wasn't till I saw one of your videos addressing these topics that I could improve my technique still dealing with some issues though but my hands feel much better!

I learn more about kettlebell lifting from Kat than anyone else. Do you have a double kettle bell course on your site?

Thank you Kat! I'm unfortunately one of those lifters who has a problem
regripping and hurting my hands. I'm going to go back and practice dead cleans as you suggest. Do you recommend a lower than usual weight for dead snatches? I find myself slightly pressing when I use my usual snatch weight for the dead snatch.

      Hi annb999,
Yes, your dead snatch will be lighter than your swing snatch. This is true for cleans too.
The weight for a ballistics lift starting dead off the ground needs to be lighter than if you used a backswing. The backswing allows us to use momentum to lift a heavier KB so in the absence of the backswing, we can only lift a lighter weight.
Please let me know if you have any more questions on this or other topics. There's much more to go into here, but it's less relevant to your specific question.
This is actually a really excellent question that led me to an idea for a video or an article, so thank you for that and hope the reply was helpful.

Can you share what study this is from? I'd love to read the findings.

Hi Maggie, I can't find it unfortunately anymore, it's in Russian and it was cited to me by my Russian Girevoy Sport coach 2 years ago. I don't speak very good Russian anymore, and don't seem to be able to find it on Google, maybe I'm using incorrect terms... Sorry!

You always bend so low when cleaning
    Almost 90°
Long time I thought I was making a mistake not going so low
Then I saw most men athletes don't go so low because they're taller and you can do it because you're small
    You should mention that
It took me long time to understand
Apart from that your videos are always correct and with lots of info
You also comment very detailed and kind
    I can only say
    Super channel 👍
    Greetings from Germany 😄

I don't get it it - my arms are still getting banged even with regripping and dead cleans and a lighter weight.. what am I doing wrong?!

    • @syrus3k
      @syrus3k 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

Heh, so I sent a video to my old instructor and he very kindly offered to talk me through it over zoom. I wasn't rotating the bell handle 90 degrees from the start angle - that meant it was banging regardless of anything else.

Great explanation: I intuitively noticed this, when I get tired and my form breaks down I tend to "cast" the bell more compared to when I'm less tired and I just "drop" it. Same goes for gripping. As usual, kettlebelling is about economy of movement more than anything else.
