Glad to see that Ram can be upgraded. Also, battery removal is so simple but Ram looks a bit tedious to change. Opposite of my dad's ideapad where the battery is difficult to remove but the ram is easily upgradeable

Thanks for the detailed disassembly tips. We must have different models. Mine is a Dell Inspiron 15 3000 Series (3558) that takes DDR3L-1600 SODIMMs, and came from the factory with 6 gigs of RAM. So I was planning on adding an 8G, which presumably will replace the 2 gigger, for a new capacity of 12 Gig.

just az, I got my dvd drive out. i have a ribbon that is connected to the dvd plug on the cover, but I don' where to connect the other end? I disconnected it when I took the cover off, but I don't see where to reconnect it. Please help!! I have the memory in. I just need to put this back together.

Thanks. I have one and it's a slow - memory starved at 4GB for sure, but the hard drive it comes with is a dog as well. I'll upgrade memory and the hard disk too....

which one is the best buy? DDR4 or DDR3 for inspiron 15 3000? My RAM is at 8GB but I'm considering adding 8GB more in one shot
