i teach high school French in Dallas and I showed this video to my kids to give them a glimpse of Montreal. it was perfect...informative and entertaining. thank you!!!!
Mount Royal is such a serene and beautiful place to visit when you wanna get away from the city, by not even going outside of the city :) Skating on beaver lake and in the old port is also very enjoyable!
Went to Montreal this past spring. I did the bagels. Fairmont was my favorite. Took a bus up to Mont Royal and ate lunch and looked at the view of the city, went to one of the markets, hung out in the Old City, plus rented a dorm room owned by McGill University. It was much cheaper staying in a hotel which was a treat. Want to go back soon.
This video is great. I live in Montreal, but i don't really get out of my neighborough. It is fun to see there is so much thing in this city, a thing i forget sometime.
Oh man, I miss this city. Thanks for the great video! I have a bit of the travel bug, so I've been watching tons of city travel videos lately; I have to say, your's is one of the best I've seen!
What a great video!!! Congrats, now I know Montréal during summer day, I have been there 3 times and it's cold all the time...but eventually either i will go on vacations again or live there!!!
It's funny because I've only really been there when it's warm, so I've kind of only seen one face of the city. But either way, it's a great place and always a good town to live or visit.
I like your approach on many things as you use sarcastic humour. I currently live in Montreal and try to do as many videos as i can to make people discover some things that they might have missed here.
Yes, lots of people in Quebec speak English as well, but more so in the larger cities. French is the official and predominant language by far, so it's worth learning a little bit before visiting for sure.
Well, I've never been in November, but from what I've heard from locals, nothing much holds Montrealers back from having a good time. Plus, school will be in session around that time, so my guess is all the usual drinking spots will be quite active. For myself, I'd avoid Crescent as I find it a bit generic as far as nightlife (pubs, sports bars), and I'd head to the Plateau and surrounding areas. I'd pick up a copy of a free weekly newspaper and look for listings too.
dude I just got back from Montreal last week! That town is incredible! I can't wait to go back! Where are your travels taking you these days? Hope all is well!
Great video! I enjoyed the one from Cartagena and Medellin too! You should make a trip to El Nevado del Ruiz, an active Volcano about 80 miles from Bogota!
You can really get poutine any fast-food restaurant around Montreal. I think one of the best that are located almost everywhere around Montreal AND Quebec would be 'La Belle Province'
You are most welcome. As I said this is an excellent video (I know, I have been to Montreal). Remember there are many people seeing the city through "your eyes", so........LOL!
I love Montreal... Growing up in the country in the US depending on East West for directions, it's tough to get used to the Montreal notion of the whole East West thing..
Don't get me wrong, if you speak fluent French, you can spend your entire time there not bothering with English (and I'm sure many people will prefer that). Like I said, the more rural areas, as well as the further East you go, are known as places where English is used far less (Quebec City for example versus Montreal). But if you only used French, you would be fine in the entire region.
haha i dont know why i watch these videos of montreal since its my city ;p but this video really represents the atmosphere i like from montreal, very young and alive if you come to montreal you might want to go to the very vibrant cote-des-neiges to try the little familial restaurants from everywhere in the world for a good taste of the multiculturalism happening here the ambiance is very special
Ha, thanks for the advice. I guess that's how I naturally sound -- I kind of sound fake if I try to pretend to be overly enthused, but maybe something I could work on.
@gturner38 No problem, but I did make a mistake as one commenter pointed out. The street that divides Montreal between east and west (francophone-anglophone) is the boulevard St-Laurent and not St-Denis (as I stated). Stupid TH-cam doesn't allow you to edit your videos once they're posted!
Hey mate, going on a trip to New York at the end of the year and have about 5 days spare so looking to spend a few days in either Toronto or Montréal. Speak a bit of french and loved France when I went but wondered if you had any tips on things to do in either/a recommendation for which might be better to spend some time in.
Five days is pushing it to do either of those from New York. Are you planning to fly? I really love Montreal in general, and if you speak French and love the culture then that's a great choice. Plus it should be very Christmasy that time of year (but also, really, really cold -- not sure where you're coming from). Otherwise, for shorter getaways from NYC you might want to consider Boston, Philadelphia or Washington, which are all accessible by bus (and short flights or train).
Yep, was planning to fly. Had heard that about the cold, am coming from Australia but have been in Europe and Japan in middle of winter before. Might try somewhere in the U.S. this time around then and try Canada another time. Thanks for the info!
Nice video, I have a strait forward question, about the language in Canada more specifically in Montreal, (I of course do not live in Canada, but will love to move there some day) my question is, in Canadian cities like Montreal is it strictly French speaking, if I visit will I get by on my own? (I only know English). I currently live in Mexico but am thinking of moving to Toronto, for several of other reason besides me already knowing the English language. but will like to also maybe visit MR
Don't try to follow Rue St-Denis to Old Montreal, since it doesn't go there. The road you meant to reference was Boulevard St-Laurent (St-Denis is a cross street). Otherwise, nice video.
How is montreal in mid November? I'm going around November 20th with my friends what things would you suggest for the nightlife near crescent. And any tips for our first time going to montreal? Thank you!
Hey man, Montreal is about half-half so you can definitely get by. Everyone likes it a lot better if you at least try French and they'll switch to English. The rest of Quebec is much more francophone though so you might have a harder time.
I have been there: april (beginning to be "warm") october (beginning to get "cold") december (beginning to get colder) Lol!!! I love poutine, although eating that every single day could give me a heart attack :P
Very nice video ,but you need a better attitude. I have been to Montreal many times and it is an exciting place. You don't sound even the least bit enthused.
You totally missed out on the night life: strip clubs in montreal are among the best in north america. Full nudity and contact. In a couple you can actually get a little more;) Also the massage parlours are great, filled with beautiful women. Always a nice way to finish (pun intended) the night.
pretty good looking about montreal ... but we have a lot more to show than this u just went down town ... but u have a lot to see in west island and old montreal too :) ... you dont have to speak french most of the time people speak english like me ... not the best english but a good one :P
It's true, I was trying to limit my video to the more accessible sights in the main part of town that you can cover in a smaller amount of time, but of course there is a ton to do elsewhere as well.
Thanks. Great video. Going to Montreal in early June 2012 and now I have a few more places to visit. Cheers from Miami.
i teach high school French in Dallas and I showed this video to my kids to give them a glimpse of Montreal. it was perfect...informative and entertaining. thank you!!!!
We going to visit Montreal this June (2013) . We are now, more than ever, looking forward to our visit. Thanks for your video.
Thank you for all the wonderful wonderful videos.:)
That's great news, June is an amazing time to visit, you'll love it.
I love Montreal, so i love to get back in there at least once in 2 year. love the people and the cuisine.
Mount Royal is such a serene and beautiful place to visit when you wanna get away from the city, by not even going outside of the city :) Skating on beaver lake and in the old port is also very enjoyable!
I love how your videos have a sense of humour, something that is lacking in other travel videos.
It's like Tom Green is giving me a tour of Montreal. I love it.
yes, really a great job,,,thank to give a different look of my town,..
Went to Montreal this past spring. I did the bagels. Fairmont was my favorite. Took a bus up to Mont Royal and ate lunch and looked at the view of the city, went to one of the markets, hung out in the Old City, plus rented a dorm room owned by McGill University. Thnx dude for this great video! Brought back so many memories of my city montreal.
I visited Montreal this past August, I miss it so much.
big thank for the expeditioner ,..
Thanks buddy, I appreciate it!
This video is great. I live in Montreal, but i don't really get out of my neighborough. It is fun to see there is so much thing in this city, a thing i forget sometime.
I love that he has me playing drums at the end. Tam tams
Oh man, I miss this city. Thanks for the great video! I have a bit of the travel bug, so I've been watching tons of city travel videos lately; I have to say, your's is one of the best I've seen!
Nice video. I stayed at rue St Denis during my 2012 Montreal Trip. Very nice neighborhood.
Thanks, yeah great city. Going back soon?
thank you for posting
Nice, I didn't get get this summer, but I'll keep that in mind for next time.
What a great video!!! Congrats, now I know Montréal during summer day, I have been there 3 times and it's cold all the time...but eventually either i will go on vacations again or live there!!!
god i can't wait to get home.
MONTREAL I LOVE YOU
Nice! I'm thinking of heading there this summer. It looks great!
I'll be there on Sunday!!! Stoked...
No prob, hope you enjoyed it.
Great video man coming from a Montrealer. You definitely nailed the best places that makes this city great!!
Thanks CanuckTechNews. I'm actually a New Yorker that just loves Montreal, so maybe I can be considered an honorary Montrealer?
It's funny because I've only really been there when it's warm, so I've kind of only seen one face of the city. But either way, it's a great place and always a good town to live or visit.
This is the guide we want.
I love your city!!!
Great video !!!! Love my city !!!
Um, yeah, that goes without saying! Check out the bars and shops in the Plateau for sure too.
Nice, I'm jealous. Have fun, it'll just start warming up by then!
The Jean-Talon market is probably my favourite place in the world, ahh. They have the best little gelato store if you ever get the chance to try it!
I love me some good gelato. I also love how much the food rotates throughout the year.
@FrozenXq28 Yeah, you are totally right, my bad (but at least they're pretty close). Can't wait to go back this July!
I love travel too. I wish I could my video when I am traveling!! I have watched your Portland video, I love that city so much.
Nice, you should definitely visit.
Well, I've never been in November, but from what I've heard from locals, nothing much holds Montrealers back from having a good time. Plus, school will be in session around that time, so my guess is all the usual drinking spots will be quite active. I'd pick up a copy of a free weekly newspaper and look for listings too.
I'm pretty sure it's at Sherbrooke and St. Denis, on the west side of the street. Hope that helps.
I only spent two days in Montreal :(
Definitely visiting all your recommendations next time!
Super work!
Thanks! Have you been?
There is also the (Biodome) to to visit, the old port of Montreal, (La Ronde) an amusement park, the Olympic Stadium and and many museums . :)
It's been a while, but I think it was a place on St. Laurent. The street is packed with poutine joints.
dude I just got back from Montreal last week! That town is incredible! I can't wait to go back! Where are your travels taking you these days? Hope all is well!
I love my city
Funny, yeah that was one thing I missed out doing that when I lived there.
Great video! I enjoyed the one from Cartagena and Medellin too! You should make a trip to El Nevado del Ruiz, an active Volcano about 80 miles from Bogota!
GREAT JOB, btw... Montreal is my favorite city... ya done good...
You can really get poutine any fast-food restaurant around Montreal.
I think one of the best that are located almost everywhere around Montreal AND Quebec would be 'La Belle Province'
I miss Montreal so much :(
Great video! Don't forget the "underground city" & LaRonde (amusement park) :D
@FireyNinja Too funny, yeah that seems to happen with those places you live near. Go! Explore!
I'm heading to Montreal next February...I must go to the bagel shop and visit their local boulangerie =)
+NYKgjl10 Nice, enjoy!
nicely done
You are most welcome. As I said this is an excellent video (I know, I have been to Montreal). Remember there are many people seeing the city through "your eyes", so........LOL!
Great Job! coming from a Montrealer
No time to wait for Schwartz's? Cross the street and directly across is "The Main." It's every bit as good and one can usually find a table. :-)
@Feroal2 Thanks, that means alot!
i like how you did a video about my city :)
Glad you enjoyed it. It's a little dated now, and I can't wait to get back up there and shoot it in HD.
Nice :)
@sebastiantoro99 Thanks dude. Definitely, I'll have to check it out.
I love Montreal... Growing up in the country in the US depending on East West for directions, it's tough to get used to the Montreal notion of the whole East West thing..

Damn. I just got a custom Kids in the Hall t-shirt 2 months ago. What a coincidence.
haha i dont know why i watch these videos of montreal since its my city ;p but this video really represents the atmosphere i like from montreal, very young and alive

The home of Matt and Pat from the Two Best Friends Show.
Hmm, not sure what that is.
Wow, it's weird seeing someone do commentary on all the places I know.
It's not rue St-Denis that separates French and English speaking montrealers, it's Boulevard St-Laurent, where Schwartz's is located.
Thanks for watching.
The subway is a great way to travel around Montreal ; driving a car isn`t so great and parking spaces are hard to find!.
Yes, that's my understanding, however I have not been to those specific areas, so I can't speak with direct knowledge.
Great vid, but i feel bad. I'm a Montrealer and I've never been to a lot of those places! Gotta get out more...lol
The ' dividing line ' is St Laurent not St Denis
St Denis is franco territory
@gturner38 No problem, but I did make a mistake as one commenter pointed out. The street that divides Montreal between east and west (francophone-anglophone) is the boulevard St-Laurent and not St-Denis (as I stated). Stupid TH-cam doesn't allow you to edit your videos once they're posted!

I grew up in Colorado.
Great city!!! P.S. What's the name of the song, please?
All the song titles are listed at the end of the video.
Don't try to follow Rue St-Denis to Old Montreal, since it doesn't go there. The road you meant to reference was Boulevard St-Laurent (St-Denis is a cross street). Otherwise, nice video.
Also, if you're in the Plateau, many people think Patati Patata has some of the best poutine in the city.
How is montreal in mid November? I'm going around November 20th with my friends what things would you suggest for the nightlife near crescent. And any tips for our first time going to montreal? Thank you!
i so want to go live there although toronto is still fun you should see some of my vids of the place

Hopefully good.
heading to montreal tomorrow, whats a good place to party a bit for a 28 year old?
Yes, you will find plenty of people who speak both English and French, and some people who only speak French.
@az0963818 I'm going to Montreal next month :) anything you'd recommend?
Very nice video ,but you need a better attitude. I have been to Montreal many times and it is an exciting place. You don't sound even the least bit enthused.
i know montreal is a francopghone majority city but do people speak english aswell?
where did you get the poutline from?
especially at 3 am on st catherine
So where are you originally from?
You totally missed out on the night life: strip clubs in montreal are among the best in north america. Full nudity and contact. In a couple you can actually get a little more;)

I LOVE THAT FUCKIN CITY!
