The best news I’ve received all month
I'm LOVING the "theater kid's fever dream" vibes of this video
And by "this video", we of course mean "every video BDG has ever made".
That's just The Brian
Just so you know. I was your thousandth like.
The fact that Doug Bowser has watched this video almost 3 million times surely means something is in the works by now
well. how do you know that it is only doug bowser that has watched this video. that would mean that you would know that this video is specifcally for doug bowser's eyes only, a fact, that you could only know from the video, which means you'd need to have watched the video. officers, arrest this person

I love how Brian’s pathological hatred of Luigi we assume as simply for comedic effect is revealed as the central plot
Agreed. I did not see that coming.
"I'm not a Waluigi..."
"Imma luigi."
That had more power than any theatre play has ever had.

Can we all acknowledge: It is very possible that Brian grew that mustache all those videos ago, ENTIRELY to set this up?
Wouldnt put it past him
The foreshadowing must be enomous. Just what I would expect
He also mentioned Waluigi TWICE IN HIS POLYGON APPLICATION.
I accepted this as truth when I first saw this video. The painted nails were a red herring.
There's no doubt in my mind he did that
Fun Fact: The song playing during BDG's emotional self-discovery, "vesti la giubba", translates roughly to "put on the costume", and reflects the sentiment of the "tragic clown", smiling on the outside, but crying on the inside. Fitting for the events.
brian has become the sad clown painting
I think the big climactic notes actually say "laugh, clown"
Glad to have such a great chaotic force honkpilled
"Hee hee hee ha ha ha Aha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ho ho ho hee hee! Take a good look, everyone! Unable to find a rival worthy of my genius, I was forced to create one by myself! Here I am! The tragic clown..."
But doctor, Brian David Gilbert *is* Pagliacci!
the fact that brian hasn't regrown his mustache in the almost 2 years since this was released leads me to believe he only grew it in the first place for this joke
Commitment to the bit.
I’ve noticed he seems to only ever grow out his mustache for the bit (like this season of Unraveled and for his halloween videos on his own channel) and then shave it off again right after tbh I’m so into it, I get genuinely excited if I ever see him with a ‘stache bc I know that means he has something in the works
What a lil scamp
I was going to say that he must have made this video just to explain who he shaved his mustache... but now I realize he indeed must have grown it just for this joke lol
Or he is incapable of doing it in such a short time
Man, I can't believe Doug has watched this video over 1.5 million times.
My man Doug has been watching this video for nearly 50 years

"Im not a Waluigi, Im-a Luigi"
Best quote ive ever heard
that reveal of him wearing green was a masterpiece
priceless
One thing not noted: Waluigi often uses roses and dance-like flair in his physicality, suggesting a romantic personality and unbridled confidence that serve to effectively counter Luigi’s... what some would call humbleness, and others would call honesty.
The Mario Party 3 Manual said that his favorite flower was the piranha plant, though Nintendo didn't hold on to that for very long.
@@shigerufan1 Piranha plant is an animal and I hate that fact
@@nguyentandung42 it even has bones

"Waluigi is the ultimate example of the individual shaped by the signifier. Waluigi is a man seen only in mirror images; lost in a hall of mirrors he is a reflection of a reflection of a reflection. You start with Mario - the wholesome all Italian plumbing superman, you reflect him to create Luigi - the same thing but slightly less. You invert Mario to create Wario - Mario turned septic and libertarian - then you reflect the inversion in the reflection: you create a being who can only exist in reference to others. Waluigi is the true nowhere man, without the other characters he reflects, inverts and parodies he has no reason to exist. Waluigi’s identity only comes from what and who he isn’t - without a wider frame of reference he is nothing. He is not his own man. In a world where our identities are shaped by our warped relationships to brands and commerce we are all Waluigi." - I, We, Waluigi: a Post-Modern analysis of Waluigi by Franck Ribery

What an amazing thesis
Pour un type qui parle déjà pas bien français, voir ce magnifique texte de Ribery dans un anglais parfait me fait beaucoup rire que le texte lui-même ^^
"I'm a Luigi."
Fucking brilliant.
And upon that realisation, his purple clothes meant to represent Waluigi change to green clothes to represent Luigi
I have no idea why this showed up in my recommended videos, but Edgar Allan Poe is pretty serious about Waluigi.
I looked him up and damn! He's a carbon copy of the guy.
Wow. That is...accurate.
it’s even funnier when you know he has dressed up as EAP in a video before (overboard ep 16, where they play obcurio)

Can we all just acknowledge how amazing the cinematography on the reveal was? That was masterful. Pat and Jenna need a raise for that holy crap. The reason they didn't announce a casting for Waluigi in the Mario animated movie is because they knew they couldn't best this.
Okay but if someone actually made this game, and the mystery “are you Luigi or Waluigi” is actually determined by choices you make in game.
But if Luigi played such a game, wouldn't he be making choices that would make him Waluigi?

The more you fixate on Luigi (positively or negatively) the closer you get to becoming him. When you stare in the mirror, your reflection cannot help but stare back. Only by leaving the your fixation on Luigi, by being your own person unrestrained by your counterpart, can you remain a true Waluigi.
That transition from "I'm not Walaluigi"
"Im a luigi"
Was such a twist i could've never seen coming
I know it's INSANE

@@BevIsGuilty the song is called "Vesti la Giubbia" ("wear the clown costume") and refers to the trope of the tragic clown, who smiles outwardly but whose heart has been shattered
In short, Joker (2019)
wario being marios cousin and waluigi having no relation AND being made for the purpose of being warios tennis partner leads me to HC that waluigi was just some guy wario knew from his younger days and when wario explained the rivalry waluigi just fully committed to the bit of being evil to these two guys for fun
Waluigi is just a really good improv actor
Actually, Wario isn't Mario's cousin, nor is he related by blood in any way. They were simply childhood friends, despite the very similar naming.
Waluigi is just a man committed to the bit
It'd be hilarious to have it be a "home alone" game. Have everyone else leave to go play in smash and they forget waluigi, who then has to protect the mushroom kingdom from an invasion using traps and tricks. Then at the end of the game everyone comes back never having noticed waluigi wasn't there and he gets no credit.
That sounds amazing and would play well to him being skilled, mischievous, and hardworking without really being evil.
This would be perfection!
That sounds so fun actually, I’d love that.
Maybe it could use Mario maker like things so you could make clever contraptions
I’d play that
What I love about this is how much sense it makes. In jaleousy of his brother, Luigi went so far as to invent an alter ego for himself, because Mario had Wario. He tried to give it traits that he thought were opposite to his, but ended up spilling his ambitions and desires into Waluigi's personality; he made him a cheater, because he considers himself to be righteous, but also made him skilled and hard-working, reflecting just how low his self-esteem is. The biggest tragedy, in all this, is that while trying to become more relevant by creating a rival for himself, Luigi created an *even more popular character* than he could ever be. This is why he is "not afraid"... He is only bitter, and as his eyes lay upon the creation that outgrew him, he can only think of his own weaknesses, as even his desperate attempt to be in the spotlight resulted in a failure; much like Frankenstein, Luigi is doomed to see his creation destroy his life.

Waluigi has never been a villain in a game. He's not an evil Luigi, he's just a dude who goes to the same tennis club as the Mario brothers
I think he was the villain in the Mario Dance Dance Revolution game.
Evil Nerd he just wanted attention.
Waluigi could be a villain in the same way wario is a villain. Wario only is a villain when it fits. Wario has been an accidental hero before. If you gave that sort of thing to waluigi in the sence that he is striving for is own goals and becomes a hero/villan accidentaly it would fit him.
