Although he gave a pretty flaccid pitch they were still a little too hard on him. With the correct dragon they could really have grown bigger and erected a business that would be oozing loads of money. Too bad he got stiffed. He should have come on to them harder before they all pulled out.

This guy’s “poor business model” is the future. Everything is custom made and sold direct in 2021.
I mean it makes sense in this industry as well because a misfit condom could lead to way more expenses. Too small, it could rip, too large it won’t be protecting much, kinda like wearing a sheet in a snowstorm (it’s there, it could easily come off, and it’s not great at keeping the heat in)
I can see it being sold to some people, but at the same time, you have to wonder just how much profit you can make out of them. Especially when you think about how you lose a big demographic (aka women) since I doubt they will check the size of their partners before buying a condom: "Hey honey, what's the size of your dick? I'm going to buy you a condom" or "So I'm going to hook-up with you. Can you tell me your dick size?" A woman would just get a size that fits all men, so no custom made. So you'd have to focus on only men, and to my knowledge, men don't much complain about the size of a condom and more about the feel of it. So you'd have to wonder if there really is such a big need or really profitable opportunity for a custom made condom.

They're the only brand I can physically use. out of probably 100 guys I've spoken to about condom fit, only a couple have never complained and all the rest said they're too tight and need more girth. Clearly Duncan doesn’t buy condoms much. There is “normal” and “XL”. That’s it.

Tbf, I think it was more the guy didn't clarify his point correctly... I think what he meant was that each brand has different products but *ALL* of them made within that product are one size. For example, a Durex XL will be X length, X width with no size variation and a normal Durex will be X length, X width with no variation. Seems he meant that, per product, they make them as "one size fits all" and if it doesn't fit, it doesn't fit. If the guy *WAS* claiming all condoms available in stores are the same size then Duncan was right to say he's wrong.

Using the example I was giving there then if someone is between a normal Durex and a Durex XL size then, with his company, they could order one that fits whereas if they were to go with Durex they could *only* choose to buy one that's either too large or too small. The guy is presenting a tailored/specific fit and not a case of small/medium/large because in each of those sizes it's "one size fits all." As I said, he didn't clarify that point correctly.

This is genuinely genius. I’ve heard many men complain about condoms. Uncomfortable, don’t fit right, etc. I suppose older generations, probably 40+, don’t understand that we think sex should be comfortable, enjoyable and talked about.
It is cause condom sizes are bs, large = extra small, xl = small, xxl = medium, most stores usually only sell 1 to 2 different sizes and the largest Is usually the xl(small) but tbf the excuse its too small to put on has worked for me in the past so it's all good

Men literally complain about it all the time. It's almost a stereotype that men will complain about condoms ruining the experience. They're almost universally seen as a necessary evil to safe sex. I don't think there's a product on the market as begrudgingly tolerated as condoms are.
The 'dragons' are sexless dunces. How inexperienced and oblivious do you have to be to not know that finding a well fitting condom is an issue for millions if not billions of people. If it's too tight it desensitises the man and ruins sex, if it's too loose the extra material forms ridges/waves that add a lot more friction and can ruin sex for the woman, or at least leave her very sore very quickly, additionally if it's too lose it offers less protection against STD's and pregnancy. Then compound that with the fact that we live in an increasingly international world, with people from all countries moving to work or live in other countries, where condoms are sold according to what Durex et al consider the national average, so depending on your ethnicity and your location it can be even more of an issue than at home. We need choice and control over something so important and intimate. This is a brand that could easily become global, the scaling should help deal with some of the problems of manufacture cost too. I would have invested immediately, in other words.

This was the first episode I've ever seen where the dragons seemed to just look completely past the value and came across quite rude. He was sooo composed and well spoken
Watching old episodes where they talk about tech-related topics, you can tell how out of touch with trends they actually were/are -- especially Peter, who's supposed to have made his fortune on tech.
Pretty disappointing, really. But just goes to show that it doesn't take a genius to make it.

It was infuriating to have them talking over him. They ask him a question, he starts to answer, and they interrupt. I think they were really uncomfortable with the idea (and talking openly about sex), knew they weren’t going to invest and did everything to shut him down.

Where he messed up with was going in with a 2 million valuation when current sales really low.....really annoys the Dragons when you valuation is way off, I've noticed that binge watching the last few weeks. Puts them in a bad mood and makes it more likely they'll interrupt and find ways to belittle the product. Gotta go in with a reasonable valuation or you're off on the wrong foot right away.

Its called keeping a detailed record of how much of each size product gets sold and how often. Called taking inventory. Every business does this, obviously don't produce every size at the same rate as they sell at significantly different rates. But still have them available in all sizes. That way you won't waste money on producing stock where more is not necessary. It's a pretty simple concept the investors missed.

You are absolutly right. My first years where I had regulary sex - I hated condoms, because of wrong size. And sex education did not tell me that. Later I found good condoms.

Regulars can be too tight but will fit someones length anywhere from 4 to 9 inches. Larges will be slack and fit the same lengths.
His business is also discreet so you arent purchasing in front of someones grandma at the pharmacy.

I expected something silly, but it turns out he was a very articulate man, looking to address a real issue of men's health. I personally had difficulty finding fitting condoms until I managed to find sizing charts online for commercially available condoms that took circumference into account. It's a real goddamned thing.

I remember they rejected a CBD product pitch off hand, without even listening, just because of it's connection to cannabis, even though there's no active compound in CBD and it's great for sleep, anxiety etc. But they rejected it out of hand because closed minded. For a business to be good it needs to competitively make more money then other condom businesses. It doesn't because it's more expensive to make and harder to manufacture and holds a solution to a non existent problem.

The same way infomercials are geared towards people with disabilities without being EXPLICIT about it, I think it's fair for this man to offer a product without being incredibly explicit in who the target audience is. These are products anybody can benefit from while also being discreet in a way that certain people don't have to feel ashamed by. There is great benefit in inclusiveness.

It’s a good idea and it was blatant that the dragons have no sense of humour about sex. The guys pitch was really good. Light hearted without being smutty. And a great point about encouraging men to wear a product that fits.

Why though. The condom keeps a woman safe as well, not just the man. A woman would probably want the guy to use it more, given that it prevents pregnancy for the woman. The issue about STD affects both as well. So male dominated cos its for males, but affects both genders. This is not like a shaving gel.

As a young man having struggled with average sized condoms I think this idea is amazing. And the website is quite popular, being mentioned all around the internet. This video honestly made me want to tear my eyes out because of the downright negativity the topic of condoms had on the dragons. I guess you can't pitch a business directed towards the young to old and middle-aged people.
