4x isn’t worth risking losing 200k had the business failed. With hindsight sure but a 50million valuation is a crazy fluke jump from the previous one and dragons have to make decisions on the information in front of them.

Since that's net profit, and profit margin can't be high to stay competitive with other companies, the actual revenue will have to be much higher than 10M. And since the investor isn't looking to break even, the company easily needs to have a revenue of 20-40M total, sometime, to get 1-200k for the investor. That is if it all doesn't go bust. Too high risk.

If a dragon gets 10% but propels the company forward, the entrepreneur can sit back and enjoy 90% of the profit for him/herself... any net profit is a win for them. Whereas the inventor needs the company see 10x the profit with his mere 10% to even break even. That's not fair, is it?

I believe this kind of idea will be very quickly outdated by the next idea. Unless you're someone who can have that chain of ideas constantly, before everyone else, and never get too fond of it at any stage, unless you can do all those things, this is a business you sell on the high and move on.

With the current valuation for the company at 50 million pounds the Sharks would have quintupled their money if they had taken the first offer. Between Dan already having a road to market, industry investors, magicking up multiple tech products he is already manufacturing and selling to bat away concerns he already considered, using Google Maps' API with potential for integration (which they both knew each other wanted) or even a 500 million-1 billion+ buyout from Google...
I don't think Peter felt threatened, I believe he felt out of his depth. There is nothing Peter could've offered him. Manufacturing, tick. Further investment, tick. Online presence, tick. Software and app development, tick. Design and marketing, tick. His only real bargaining chip was the possibility of getting in front of Google execs or any other major company, but it was only a matter of time. Lo and behold, a 7.6 million partnership with Hyundai, and a business valued near £100,000,000 with Dan still being the majority shareholder.
