I appreciate your video it helped out a lot especially when you're under the vehicle and the dark can't see very well having you pull everything out and opening good light and explain and show in detail helped tremendously appreciate it
Thank you so much for this video. I was almost at my wits end trying to figure this out. I've seen pictures of the "special" tool to use but still no explanation of what to do with it. Showing the teeth inside has given me a clear view of what needs to be done and why. You now have another subscriber.
Thanks for the video! My clutch line was missing the release sleeve so I cut a strip from a Brake Cleaner can and formed it into a sleeve to insert into the connection and used the Ford tool to release the line. When I tried to reconnect the line It wouldn't connect until I released the bleed screw and let all the fluid bleed out, then it clicked right in.
I am trying to reinsert the style you already have mounted on your transmission and am having a bugger of time trying to get it reset. I changed the slave already and the line popped an locked up the master cylinder. Got a whole new master cylinder off Rockauto and can't get it depressed enough to get it on the slave?
Dude, you saved my butt. After mucking up the release with screwdrivers and no idea what I was doing, I made a tool on a milling machine that did the trick. Took less than 5 minutes after that. I have the second type, by the way. All good now!

Hey man my line won't go in all the way. I'm not getting the snap sound when I push the line in. I have the clip style. Does the connector that's on the slave cyl. Does the inside push in?
I hope you can maybe help me. I got the clip type. The guy who was helping me left the clip off of the slave. And then installed Trans. Can u make any comment comments on how to get that clip on with the Trans installed.
I cant find the other line for the slave drive, i was hoping you would show the other side install as well. My truck is in another town where i have to drive out to work on it and its taking me months but at least i've been very careful and methotic on every thing i've done the truck. Now that i'm to this point (putting the flywheel back on along with everything else) i feel good with the install of clutch assembly) not to mention new bearing and new seal! I've replaced everything i could afford to so once i get slave drive on and verify it's working properly next is the trans! Cant wait.
I have a 02 ford ranger with a 2.3 l 5 speed manual transmission, the master cylinder was leaking, i removed it and replaced it with a new one , do l have to do any bleeding to it
Man. I wish I'd seen this before I struggled through mine a couple days ago!! Good video! 👍 Now, can you tell me how to get my master cylinder assembly through that square in the clutch bracket far enough to get it to turn & lock? It's giving me fits & insane frustration! I've managed it 2-3 times, but for various reasons had to pull it out again. So I know it can be done, but it's a herculean effort! Is there a trick/easy way? Without pulling the whole bracket & dismantling the pre-bled mc/sc assembly? 😂 Maybe not a big enough hammer?
I'm in dire straits sir and need advice. I have this style slave cylinder. I absolutely cannot get the hose that is connected to my SC to release so I can replace it. My truck is inoperable until I change hoses. The plastic piece that you show to push in to release is so far shoved up into my SC connector that you can hardly see it and it still won't release. (Apparently someone used a screwdriver to work around the hose pushing the plastic piece in all the way around). Any advice on how to get my hose to release??
Try removing plastic sleeve, install undamaged sleeve, push on the clutch line towards slave cylinder while pushing new sleeve in, then pull the line out.
@@everydayirace Thanks for responding so quickly! I haven't tried removing the plastic sleeve although I m not sure I can as it is wedged pretty deep inside the slave cylinder connector. If I can manage to remove it am I able to buy a new sleeve without having to buy a whole new slave cylinder? This one is pretty new. I'll be in touch on how it goes regarding getting the damaged sleeve out. Thanks again!
@@everydayirace I decided to give it one more shot this afternoon. Used a very small flat tip screwdriver and pushed the sleeve in as far as I could then clamped some vise grips down on it and used the transmission casing as leverage and it popped right out
@atownda_realesttv5585 If I remember correctly I put a LARGE pair of vise grips as close to the SC port as possible and tightened them down to where I almost couldn't close them into the lock position. Then I bowed up on them using the transmission casing for leverage. I thought I was going to break it but it finally broke loose and came right out
Why is it so easy on your picknick table to install remove but so hard underneath i cannot get it to install it is the A/C sharbite disconnect type and it will not press in any suggestions?
I had the white plastic sleeve pushed in all the way but the fitting wouldn't budge. I tried wiggling it with channel locks and a lot of prying with screwdrivers but nothing worked, until I pushed in the clutch, then the sucker blew out! Good video.
If you push in the white plastic sleeve on both sides and it stays in then push in the clutch pedal and it should pop the hose loose. That's what I did.
If you have to remove the tranny you may have to cut the hose which means replacing the hose and maybe the throw-out bearing. Just make sure you have the white sleeve pushed all the way in on all sides. I think the hose goes through the frame but look at unbolting the master cylinder which may give you enough slack to drop the tranny. That is if you can do what you need to do with the tranny laying under the truck.
I've learned that with any "quick disconnect" line, be it fuel, a/c, hydraulic line, any of them, you should first make sure that the side that you insert the sleeve into must be clear of any gunk or build up. If you have any difficulty with these connections, spray some brake parts cleaner into the fitting and allow it to flush out any foreign material.
HOW TO REMOVE THE HYDRONIC LINE FROM THE SLAVE THAT HAS A MISSING PLASTIC DRIVE SLEEVE. The shark's tooth connector is difficult to remove and usually winds up a disaster if the plastic drive ring is gone. Here is how. With snips cut a piece of thin metal from something like an old gutter. 5/16" X about 3.5".Curl the strip around something close to the approx size. With the new slave curl the piece to fit and cut off the excess length just a tiny bit short. Make sure it is uniform and fits the inner lip. Now this will replace the gone plastic ring. On the stuck line start the curve strip at one of its corners. Gently push the ring around the line and into the sleeve. This may be difficult but work it carefully around the curve into place. Once in tap gently driving your new ring in a bit at a time. It will force the teeth open just as the original plastic ring did freeing the line for removal. Works great and won't damage anything. Hope this helps on any sharks tooth stick connected lines you have. Take care and it works every time. Quicker and cheaper than buying a new cylinder or trying to cut the slave line requiring re bleeding the air trapped in the cylinder. Thanks.
Very careful first spray the connector with wd40 use a lot , sand is the problem here. Push the plastic sleeve gently at various points as it slides into the space it’ll go till it’s flush with the face of the metal at this point continue pushing gently all around the plastic ring but don’t damage the plastic sleeve.
Gonna try and fix my pops truck and thanks to your video it seems easy enough. Thing is that the transmission is mounted and do I release hose and bleed air out after it's in. Lol I don't know a damn thing I'm doing and tired of waiting on a mechanic. Thanks
