The effort you put into these videos is apparent, and much appreciated from the editing to city shots, keep going and leave no Mechlin star restaurant on earth!!
Needed this cheerful video on a sad Christmas when we’re all sick in bed instead of enjoying Christmas. Watching your lovely meals helps me live vicariously. Also, short (getting long!) list of NYC restaurants to try on my next visit.
Merry Christmas and congratulations on twenty thousand subscribers. Only on TH-cam would we find it entertaining to watch you eat three portions of ribeye steak or a large pizza by yourself.
Your videos are very well made with good balance of detailed information about the food and the people who make it happen. Here’s to 100K subscribers within next six months.
Your videos are in a class by themselves. I will not be going to any of the restaurants you review so I really enjoy what they have. You do an excellent job of reviewing the food, but also a back ground of the chef and owner. Thank you for a wonderful site.
Thank you James for taking me to places that I have never been, but would love to go! You mentioned onward to 30k subscribers, nonsense. Onward to 100k and beyond! Cheers !
Yet again another informal video done well. Merry Christmas to you James. May you and your family have an amazing time. Greetings from East Anglia UK 😊😊😊😊
Thank you so much for your wonderful videos. I am unable to eat at restaurants at this stage in my life and I feel as if I am visiting these great restaurants watching your videos. Please keep up the good work and fine dining! I certainly appreciate you and the videos.
I took a couple snapshots of the menu and oh boy, a risotto for $36, veggies at $12, starters ranging from $19 to $36 so under the circumstances you getting the 2 plate "special" for $58 made sense. Thank you for your review, our chance to take a closer look at the menu and your input as to your dining experience! Those potatoes looked like they needed a little sea salt even with the sauce.....
Congrats on 20k! It’s so well deserved and I have no doubt you’ll continue to climb with your subscriber count. Thanks for all the effort you put into your content!
Congratulations on 20k. And I’m sure you’ll get to 30k. I’ve just been watching a great lady who creates content in London and she was saying getting to 10k is tough…!
James I have been binge watching your videos and this one stood out because I am literally La Jardinere (the gardener). i loved the ambiance and the emphasis on quality produce. It is rare to bitter greens like chicory and radicchio in a caesar style salad. I think I saw some watermelon radish in there also.
Thanks for watching! I'm glad that you're enjoying my videos! Yeah, I appreciated the restaurant's focus on produce. Plus, I like how even the design of the restaurant reflected their menu.
I love learning about the history of the restaurant and the information about the chefs. Ur reviews are on a whole other level! I've been binge watching on my downtime. Much love n happy holidays:)
Congratulations on 20k..now 24 k! I've been watching since around 2k maybe and you definitely are getting good at this! Merry Christmas and I hope that next year shows a lot more growth!
Merry Christmas James. Definitely on your way to more subscribers. Can tell how hard you work on your videos. I have never had bass but looked really good.
Congratulations on 20K (looks like almost 25 now)!! As always-love the video. The potatoes looked a little sad, but everything else looked sooooo delicious. Hope you are having a wonderful holiday!
Truly love your videos, James. Thank you for showing us the roadless traveled and taking us to the spots that we'd rather see and experience, the way you have. Excellent job!
James, Your reviews are in a class all by themselves. I’ve mentioned this before, the time and effort you put into your productions is very much appreciated. Can’t wait for your next review.
Cool man. I'm in Houston and their location here just earned a star. It's inside the museum of fine arts so I'm wanting to check it out for my first ever Michelin experience!
Congrats James! Your videos are fun to watch. Your ability to let us see your enjoyment when dining is clearly visible and helps convey to us viewers just how special your experiences are.
Congratulations on your TH-cam subscriptions moving upwards!!! I didn’t think the presentation of the bass was all that appealing. But as long as it tasted good, then that is what counts. The potatoes looked delicious with that sauce. Thanks for the video.
New subscriber here - I live in Edmonton and I have found myself vicariously enjoying your videos quite a bit. Great video quality, cheers from Alberta!
Merry Christmas Evening to you!! Thank you for sharing this lunch scene. The salad with bread is very nice!! Your selection of the fish meal looked very good! And the dessert looked like heaven. I, I, guess I would have liked a white table cloth underneath the plates. Sometimes when people have to cut meat or pasta dishes, you have to use a little more strenght to cute thus moving your plate a little bit!! And I also hope the tsble are wiped clear!! Sometimes you may see glass water stains and other left sauce stains. Yeah, that is alittle high priced for lunch but I would go there. I have been to many places for lunch and I have spent $40 to $60 dollars for myself!😊 I wonder fir dinner there would the wait staff places white table cloth on the table?
Merry Christmas! Luckily even without a table cloth the dishes were pretty easy to eat. I'm not sure if they do anything different to the dinning room for dinner, but the dinner menu looks even better than the lunch menu. Although, it's definitely more costly.
Love your channel - wish you did at least three reviews a week! Someone in the comments called you a food critic and I’d say that’s pretty spot-on! I’ve enjoyed watching your subscribers rise, been around since the 6000 mark. You’ll be to 100K in no time. Your reviews are so well executed. Plus you’re kinda nice to look at, which doesn’t hurt, either!😊 Happy Holidays and Happy New Year - 2024 will be good to your channel.
Congrats on hitting 20K subs James. Very well deserved. Nice review today. Given your experiences in NYC, you might want to consider doing a video of NYC Restaurant week participants where diners could get exceptional value given your guidance. Best to you in 2024 and beyond.
Congrats on 20k, though nearly 25k now! I wondered why you were referring to chicory as chicories and then saw that that is what the restaurant call it on its menu - bit weird as it's its own plural... Food looked good but not quite enough to make it onto my wishlist for my next visit to NYC (which is already an undoable 8 restaurants strong anyway!).
Those are two great spots! You definitely have a lot of options, but one of my favorites this year was 63 Clinton. Their tasting menu is still a great value and offers a good variety of food.
I'm not sure exactly. I think you're right, one of them might've been pumpernickel. The other one I believe had some sort of cheese in it. Both were really good!
Interesting how old design asthetics are coming back. If you took a black and white picture of the dining room, you could probably pass it off as something from the 50s (maybe even before that).
Compared to so many other joints J hits, this one looked pretty underwhelming. Again, _comparatively._ Those spuds did not look appetizing. I’m glad he went on the cheap & minimized cost damage, yet maximized his sit time. 😄✌️(The apples DID look great in that salad, though. 🤷♂️)
James, I have watched and enjoyed a number of your videos. Since you visit so many fine dining venues, I have a couple of constructive tips for you. You've recently gotten marginally better at breaking your bread or roll before buttering. Proper manners say that you should break off no more than a bite-sized piece, butter it, and eat it before going on. One other thing, check yourself out at 4:16 in this video. Salad may be cut with a knife and fork into manageable pieces. You may think I'm a fussy old woman, but you never know who may be observing you and taking note. You want to give a good impression; that celebrity could have reason to invite you for another great meal, but not if your table manners are lacking. All that said, your videos are very well done--I just want to see you do your very best!
Thank you for the nice words and suggestions! Yes, it makes me cringe watching myself take that first big bite of salad. I knew I should've cut it even as I was eating it.
See that 2.2million miles away, when someone handed his work 🎉mate the greatest telescope in the world? Thats 2inchs away from where they could see you coming from❤
You should have gone up to Cook and said "Oi Mister Cook, subscribe now sir, you'll love my channel more than this food ". You should also have slapped his face for extra emphasis
Le Jardinier restaurant looks beautiful - same for the food presentation. However, what I believe you called “peanuts” were pine nuts, as described on the prix fixe menu. Unfortunately, these were Korean or Chinese pine nuts. A Michelin starred restaurant should serve nothing less than real Mediterranean pignolis, which are at the top of the nuts culinary world, while Chinese pine nuts are at the bottom, jointly with peanuts. Pignolis are more expensive, since imported from Italy, Lebanon or Spain, but they are the only pine nuts that deserve to be included in the recipes of such high level restaurant - never the tasteless Chinese stuff.
It's definitely a gorgeous restaurant. I'm not sure of the origin of the pine nuts, but wherever they came from, they both went along nicely with the salad and fish.
I’m sure you have never tasted the real pignoli. There’s no comparison. But my point was that a Michelin starred restaurant shouldn’t skimp on the quality of the ingredients. A Michelin star should imply excellence. It’s not compatible with stinginess.
I enjoy your videos a lot. I’ll continue to watch them. I do have a minor criticism. Maybe there are too many shots of you eating. It’s not really necessary to see you open your mouth and -to channel the great Weird Al-eat it.
Thank you! It's a tough balance trying to vary the footage. I don't want to have all food shots while I do my voiceovers. It's a struggle every video to keep it interesting.
The effort you put into these videos is apparent, and much appreciated from the editing to city shots, keep going and leave no Mechlin star restaurant on earth!!
Thank you so much! I'll definitely be going to plenty more Michelin starred restaurants in the future.
I agree!
"However, I just stuck with water for my lunch." Priceless!
Yeah, some of those wines were a little out of my budget. Haha!
