    I used Cakewalk for years, staring in the early 1990s. I'm a classical musician. I used CW to create accompaniments to practice and teach with. I entered the scores by playing them in with a midi keyboard. I worked off of actual musical notation on the screen. I haven't been able to find a musical notation view in the new version. Without it, I can't tell where I am in the music. I'd gladly pay for a program that had that feature.

    Hey! I love your vids on CakeWalk, they are super helpful! I was wondering is there a way to make your guitar sound like a bass while recording maybe by using some octaver plug-in or pitch shifter?

      Glad you're enjoying the videos. At the moment I don't have any sort of tip jar. I'm waiting on TH-cam to roll out the "Super Thanks" feature which will allow people to tip directly on TH-cam. But really, I just appreciate people watching the videos. Thank you for continuing to watch. Keep creating! 👊👍

    I HAVE A BURNING QUESTION: when comping in Cakewalk; how do you continue comping a section, if you want to add a few more comps on a new comp-track-lane (+ add lane) in a single track, after already comping a few times on the same section? It seems like added a new track lane should work, but what Does happen, is the configuration to 'record takes' "create new lane" will be overriden the next time you try and comp that section again by adding a new track lane. If you can add a new track lane, and not be able to record-takes in a new lane, what is the point of being ablle to ADD a new track lane if I can't use it this way? It's a burning question I have asked the forums and even Bandlab, and have not gotten any answers or suggestions.. I'm reaching out here, but seem to be falling on deaf ears.. sadly

    Got so far. I can see the T tracks, I can highlight the track, but I can't hear the tracks play. What am I doing or not doing?

    I hate the fact that after you play your recording it doesn't playback after the loop is over

    I like to do covers. I usually play with a song in order to get the timing right. How do I do this as I have to listen to the first of the song to join in to get the timing of the song. I would like to know how to listen to the song and capture the entire song. In other words, I don't want to start in late. It would be cool if I could figure out how to start on the first beat exactly as the song should be performed. Also some songs fade in and out. How do you deal with this? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

      If you want to play along with a song then you could put that song onto a track, adjust the volume so it doesn’t overpower what you’re recording, and then record on a second track. When you no longer need the original you can mute or delete the track that has it on there. Make sure you now the tempo of the original so you can set your project to the same tempo.
      For songs that fade in and/or out I would render/export my track and then when I have my mix down I would either load it into an empty cakewalk project and add fades to the beginning and ending. Then render that to a new file.

    Once you have assembled the take you like, am I right in thinking you should not record anything else on that track, in a different location? Say I have a vocals track and I comped verse 1. If I have the "Takes create new lane" option selected, I can create another stack of takes at the verse 2 location, but is this bad practice? Is it best practice to have a separate track for each vocal section you're doing; i.e verse1/chorus1/verse2/chorus 2 etc, each in their own track?

    • @AudioTechTV
      @AudioTechTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can record all of your vocals on the same track. The comping goes section by section so you don’t need to create new tracks for each section.
      Some people will have separate tracks for chorus and verse if their vocals are drastically different in each part. But if the vocal is relatively the same for each section you can keep it all on one track. Whatever works best for you.

      @@AudioTechTV Thanks for the reply :) People need to be sure to have the "Takes Create New Lane" option checked, or they'll erase takes from previous sections on the same track.

    Do you know if anything changed in Cakewalk regarding comping and crossfades? I've used Sonar for many years and now I'm using Cakewalk by Bandlab (I still call it Sonar sometimes). It seems like the comping isn't as seamless as it used to be, almost like it's not automatically crossfading the clips. I seem to get pops at the comping points and have to keep changing the comping points around to try to get a smooth transition without any clicks or pops. Are there some new settings I don't know about?

    • @AudioTechTV
      @AudioTechTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To enable auto crossfades, click on options (the options menu is just under the cursor tool selector menu near the top.) once you click on that you’ll see the auto crossfades option at the top of the menu. Click that to enable it.

    Totally unrelated...every time I record straight into my board from and active source like active pick ups, Amp modelers, Mics, etc @#%$#%$ CAKEWALK...(breathing) will NOT record the signal without using the track echo function which cases STUPID sounding latency. Without using this stupid echo function Crapwalk records EVERYTHING in my selected and what I want to be an ISOLATED recording instrument track. I posted here as this is a recent video...not 5 years old or something like that. God this has been frustrating for !@#$% YEARS with this DAW.. WTF is this? Anyone?
