    Great overview. The other thing I would point out is to quickly remove those "double" transients, select 1/8 note for the Resolution under the Filter section of Audiosnap, and it'll only show transients closest to the 1/8 grid. Then quantize or move transients as you please. Quantize is quicker, obviously, but you can also specify less than 100% quantize amount to make the moves more subtle and not totally perfect.

    This looks like a fun feature. I tried this, but it's not showing a tempo on my track. What's up with that?
    Anyways, I got an old track with a great tune on it. However, I made it with a crappy drum machine. I'd love "find the groove" and beat of this song so I could potentially add some new drums over top of it. Any tips would be appreciated. Cheers.

    Sorry, you missed the mark here. This was not about using AudioSnap, it was about using AudioSnap to manually quantize a clip. You showed us how to manually quantize each beat. That is very tedious for a long song. I would have liked to see a demonstration of the auto-quantize function, just like I quantize midi tracks. Also, you glossed over the tempo functions of AudioSnap but I find them extremely helpful. I record my tracks as slowly as needed to get a smooth performance and then I use the tempo function in AudioSnap to create the tempo I want in each part of the song. The result sounds very natural.

  • @harveyandruss8748
    @harveyandruss8748 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You did not mention where your cursor was with each transient to allow stretching to the click (tempo you decided). If you hit the center circle, you will NOT stretch and will just modifiy the tempo map of the clip. Interestingly, I think if you played the tempo-mapped clip back to the click (tempo mapped to a steady tempo for the larger project), it may just match up in reverse. I haven't tried it, but it seems possible that the new map for the clip, once overlayed on a steady click may indeed adjust it's varying transient markers to the click of the beat of the project. I will try it and let you know, but this may be a way to back into the same result?!

    Suggestions on where I can learn about using AudioSnap to "Sync Project Tempo to an Audio Clip". Other DAW users send me their projects as exported wav files w/ their audio click track clip that I import into CW. Some projects will have tempo changes in the song which their click track will align to. When I import the wav files (w/ their click track) into CW, I assumed I could select the click track clip, click AudioSnap button Sync Project Tempo to an Audio Clip (set at measure or clip), and it would update my CW project's tempo and measures to align with the imported click track, but nothing happens. The CW user doc also states this should happen w/out needing melodyne.

    I'd rather use tempo mapping to move the grid around to match my first performance...then program the drums, record additional guitars and bass. Then any midi/sample stuff will go with the performance as it started...much more natural sounding than everything conforming to a robotic sounding grid.

    13:38 The final audio sounds poor to me. It's still really out of time in a couple of places. Most notably at the chord change. It would've been quicker (and better) to just re-record it.

      Each track individually, one at a time.

    • @KariKoskinen
      @KariKoskinen 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you drag the drum transients individually on each drum track, there may be a problem with the leaking percussions, unless you manage to drag them EXACTLY to the same position. For instance, if the snare is heard on the kick track too, it will be make a double hit. I do it this way: I choose a vertical area over all tracks so that it contains all transients at that point. So when I drag them to the desired position, they all move together on all tracks.

    Hi, thanks for the tutorial.
    I have a question: When I try to snap to grid like you were doing, it seems like it does not snap completely. Like when you snap yours, the white line disappears and appears to be perfectly snapped. But when I try to do mine, it moves but the line stays white, a bit off-grid kind of.
    Also, do you know why the track sounds weird when bounced back? It sounds like a snapping thing but I don't know how to fix it.
