My salad was the first passing dish that was emptied at that dinner, and I showed my sister sitting across table my empty dish while I laughed at her. We both got to laughing so hard at each other. My Mother used to make a salad like this but she used a block of cream cheese and I think used a hand mixer and whipped it in the hot jello. Pineapple and crushed pecans were added just like yours. My friend who is no longer here with us, used to make this with vegetables in it and serve it for desert with mayo on top in the summer!! It had grated cabbage, carrots, sliced green olives in it and was soooo very good!!!

I am sure there are many folks that like this combo of ingredients. I avoid cottage cheese like the plague, but I love sour cream (my sister was just the opposite). I like the lime jello salad make with cream cheese, pineapple and cool whip, but that is just me, I like sweet stuff. Happy and safe Memorial Weekend or as my family always called Decoration Day.
My grandmother made a salad very much like yours. I think she used one lemon and one lime jello. She used the same ingredients, but added chopped celery and chopped cherries. I love that salad. Thank you for sharing your recipe.

I remember this salad from the 60's or 70's .my aunties wld make it..mom too. Just wondering abt your background music..I can't tell what it is you're playing .it sounds muffled. Hi Talli Faye 👋 Yes, accidents around here already today. My brother's friend's brother was killed a few days ago. He was on his way home from work on his motorcycle. He apparently fell asleep and hit the back of a stopped van at 55 mph. So sad. We live not far from a highway, and we hear the sirens all the time. Approx how many hours does it need to set up in the fridge if I make in the morning? Or should I do the night before? Got all the ingredients and even that same Corningware dish at Walmart the other day. Making it this weekend! 😃
Update: I’ve made this twice now haha. It’s so good. In this dish it’ll be approx 2” thick and was set after 5-6 hrs 👍🏼 Oh and I pre-chilled the dish to give a lil head start 😊

Remember how our mothers saved the mayo jars for canning? That was so nice for her. She canned her tomato juice in them. I still use her jars today.
