Hey, avid Crystal Clear player here! I wanted to tell some things extra about the game that are just so good! First tho, about the Cinnabar Island here: you can get out! If you go to the cave amd go to the exit all the way right, you'll find an NPC that will lend for a sec her Shellder for you to swim to the next location just at the side (it's a secret :P). You can work your way from there! And here's some other good things: - All Pokémon available, a staple of ROM hacks. - Don't want to hunt for shinies? Well no worries! You can design a custom palette on the Pokédex for 6 of your Pokémon! This gives you an option to have your team colored just how you want it (given GBC's and sprites' limitations ofc lol). - TOOOOONS of secrets. Like, they're goddamn never ending!! Exploration here is key, and in my honest opinion, the real adventure of the hack. - Full Pokémon Stadium 2 and all GBC games support! If you put CC on a Transfer Pak of you're able with some flashcard (or, you know, emulation more easily), it will indeed read what you have, and you can use your Pokémon in there! Plus you're able to fight people from Red/Blue all the way to Crystal! - The Dex Tracker, which let you get maxed DVs (old game's IVs) and Shiny Pokémon more easily! Godsend for me. - Improved shiny odds on certain instances, like for gift / starter Pokémon (1/1024) as an example. - Quick start functionality! You can literally start in the overworld when booting up if you want! Which makes shiny resets also very fast. - Pokémon Bank guidances, of you inject it on a 3DS Virtual Console app. If you inject it with a game ID of a Crystal version (can be any language you don't have if you don't wanna overwrite you language version), you can send your goddamn Pokémon TO THE NEW GAMES LIKE WHAT-. And CC offers legality fixers and even Mew converters for all your Pokémon to pass through. It's incredible. - There's a certain place on the Kanto Underground that opens 3 days of the week... maybe you would want to check it :). And even with that there's so much more, it's unbelievable. 10/10 hack, would highly recommend!
Please! I need you to tell me step by step how to Pokémon bank work with this game, I've tried it in the past and couldn't get it to work... Help a brother out!
your crystal clear short from this vid brought me here, good stuff man! sometimes videos over topics like these aren't charming or are very surface level, but I honestly think this is really great! hope to see more from you!
Great vid! Editing was well done too! Pokémon Crystal and Super Mario Land 2 were two of my favourite games growing up. I’d love an excuse to play them again, thanks for the Rom suggestions!
I would like to recommend Legend of the Mana Sword, which cleans up Final Fantasy Adventure. As for the lack of extensive hacks on Gameboy... I intend to remedy that with the release of Ember of Mana. Progress is well underway for a planned release in 2023. Looking forward to your next video!
Hey, that version of Kirby that you were complaining about his color is that way bc it’s made for playing on an original GBC with no back light. It wasn’t designed to be played on an emulator or however you got your footage. There’s actually a second version of the patch that is for playing on emulators or on a new IPS screen that is more “correct”.
You can, in fact, leave Cinnabar if you start there, but you need to go past the cave containing the ruins of the Pokemon Mansion and talk to a lady on the other side, who will ferry you to New Cinnabar. You can't get back the same way, but New Cinnabar is connected to the rest of Kanto by way of boat, and you get Surf for free in Fuschia.
You should probably do a little research on Galaga and Galaxian, they were both incredibly high sellers on the arcade when they came out. I understand you’re just a “yute”, but believe me, there are MANY PEOPLE that play those two games, even on the game boy. ;) edit: if you don’t get the “yute” reference, watch My Cousin Vinnie!
@@CaptainJack1 Adding to it : My friends and I (the ones the Game boy was marketed to) wouldn't care for buying Galaga and Galaxian on the Game boy. I did have the game on the Namco museum for my PS1 but my mom was the one that bought it... Most kids with a Game boy wouldn't care for the games but they are definitely classics.
He wasn't talking about the games, he was talking about the rom hacks on the Game Boy for them. You yourself should do some research before you start on that boomer "kids these days" bullshit
@@_Majoras ...Solar Striker is probably the game that needs color THE LEAST. On the GBC it automatically recolors with black space and looks pretty great. It's also a really good shmup for being an early GB game. Hardly mediocre.
@@jed1nat don't get me wrong solar striker is fantastic as far as nostalgia goes but unfortunately it doesn't hold a candle to the nemesis games. also, super game boy colors are mostly horrible pokemon gen 1 being one of the rare exceptions
@@_Majoras I vastly prefer vertical shmups. Not a Nemesis fan at all. Have you actually played it in color? It's not bad at all. th-cam.com/video/dFANGZRN08k/w-d-xo.html
I am bothered by the fact that the heavily saturated color patch for Kirby's Dreamland was for original hardware while there is a different patch for those who play the game on emulation and you don't seem to know that. You either missed it or you got to start reading the descriptions on the Romhacking site.
I'm actually finishing up on a brand new gameboy color game. If you want i can hook you up on a copy and you can review it as its my first commercial product.

This whole vid just flew right by! Crystal Clear looks fun as hell!
I played through Super Mario Land 2 DX and really enjoyed finding details in the graphics I overlooked every time in the original monochrome version.

Or just play Sword of Mana GBA
Oh no, not British People!
*Throws crumpet in disgust*
🤮
In crystal clear, if you start with seel, it has surf. And because you don't need badges for hms, you can use surf straight away.
Great video! I love that you give attention to these lesser known hacks. Extensive Gameboy hacks, besides Pokémon, are really hard to come by indeed!

Surprised you don't have more followers, great content!
Such an awesome video, your terribly underrated!! Cant wait until you become famous :)
Subscribed because your script for this video from start to finish was freaking entertaining. Awesome job, man!
This is my first video of yours I'm watching (besides the YT short that promoted this video) and I just subscribed!!!
You need to dedicate a whole video to crystal clear my man, you have the audience to give it the attention it deserves

Kirby was actually canonically a solid white color until Dreamland 2
"IS THE ARCADE VERSION TOO FANCY FOR YOU?"
Unfortunately, for my TI-84 + CE calculator, yes
love your videos very underrated very much!
There are more dx Hacks: Wario Land, mega man 1 & 5 with colors and Donkey Kong with new Levels
Pokémon Trading Card Game (2)

My favorite DX hack is Kirby's Dream Land 2. Actually that's my favorite GB game, period.
I've seen improved versions of Kirbys Dreamland DX and
thankfully hes the correct color
Check out the new Kirby's DreamLand DX FRS version hack!
Looks way better and a lot more is fixed! The HUD is customized too.
I never noticed the boxing shark In SML2 until seeing It In color
