Captivating story! Thank you for sharing Mr. Huiser’s legacy! This drives home the true meaning of a tool watch of which so many cannot understand how dependent these men were on their timepieces and how they were utilized. Great job!
The interest you have in the history of these watches, the person behind them, and the stories they tell is incredibly inspiring. It might be business for you, but your genuine passion for these objects and the hobby is easy to see, and it's fvcking awesome 👊
Wonderful story! I'd love it if you'd consider doing another feature on the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, but in English this time. I know that many of us would appreciate it!
Have a 5513. Years ago it had water damage and had it repaired by Rolex, they had to replace the dial and they had it for months. But it came back looking like a new watch.
A renowned wristwatch has a temporary lease with its owner, not a forever marriage. I sometimes look down at the beloved watches I have that are desired by others, and I smile while thinking these very watches will make someone in the future, too, very happy. When we pass, the titles, money, status, possessions, trophies, credentials, etc go back in the box - monopoly 😊 I enjoyed this. Thank you.
This is indeed an interesting tale. However, it might help the vintage community somewhat if you revealed some of the financial aspects of these transactions as well. I don’t feel that any of the involved parties would be harmed by revealing these details. Given this fact, it would be interesting to know what a „very fair price“ for these two Subs was in 2017, given their distressed state. Additionally, the restoration costs and the purchase price that Nico paid would also be interest. Finally, some live images of both Subs in their current state would add greatly to this amazing story. On a final note, it’s probably also worth mentioning that if the original owner had elected to have these serviced by the AD in question, he would have paid several thousand Euro to devalue his watches by more than the cost if the repairs. This would have been especially unfortunate. This is as much as a vintage cautionary tale as it is an amazing example of provenance.
It’s an interesting niche within a niche - professional watches used professionally and bearing all the physical evidence of use. As artefacts they’re worth preserving as physical records/ “versions” of watches in the field and as a complement to pristine examples - together we get a full picture of history.
Class to hear the story again, proud to still have the watches in my possession ❤️

Wow, prachtig verhaal man.
