    Another reason why DNA test should be carried out at birth. To avoid children getting switched around.

      It needs carried out before leaving. At birth would be pointless. It really shouldn't be that hard not to mix up babies yet somehow they do.

      @raeishimura 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      The sad part is that it's not even uncommon for it to happen. Something like 20 or 30 thousand babies get switched out every year. With all of the technology and methods we have of identifying a person and tracking their genetics, that number should be zero. I remember hearing in high school from one of my friends that their sister was sick, and they were doing some tests and found out his sister wasn't either of her parents child. She'd been switched at birth. I don't know the details because it was like 18 years or so ago. But yeah, this kind of thing shouldn't be happening. Not with everything we have that can easily prevent it

    OPs biological parents must have been amazing to raise such a kind a patient daughter to be putting Op first like that. I'm glad OP has that sister and that she's sticking up for OP. When I lost my best friend to suicide, my son thought I was losing my shit because he heard me talking to him and saying all the things I no longer could. My son got really concerned (he was 19) and contacted my ex husband and he gave me a puppy. He wanted me to have something to focus on. I named him after my best friend so if my son heard me talking to Greg he'd assume I was talking to the dog. That puppy saved my life. He's 8 now and if I have an anxiety attack he's right there in my lap kissing my tears away.

    • @Arkryal
      @Arkryal 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      Agreed, he has no idea what a therapist even does.
      He is correct that therapy won't "cure" them. That's not what they do at all. If that's his expectation, then that's the problem.
      First and foremost, it's an objective third party who can give him general updates on his son's well-being (without breeching confidentiality). This is someone who can see problematic behaviors earlier on in their development and get ahead of game in mitigating those behaviors. It's another set of well-trained eyes on the situation. I think that's OP's real problem with therapists, they'd call him out on his B.S. I'm betting prior to his divorce, there may have been a CPS visit or two which colored his opinion of therapy when his way of doing things was found to be inadequate. That's just speculation on my part, but where else would he have developed such strong opinions? Either that or he's a religious nut, Jehovah's Witness or something like that which dismisses doctors and mental health professionals out of hand.
      Of course a therapist can't make the kid stop grieving. At the end of the day, his mother is still dead. But they can help custom tailor some strategies to help them deal with this productively. That's where they will be beneficial. But if he doesn't implement those strategies and follow through, then yeah... it's never going to work.
      And I have nothing against cannabis use (I use it myself on occasion, legally), but it shouldn't be given to a thirteen year old. There are mountains of clinical research establishing how cannabis use that young can stunt brain development. Giving him the "munchies" will not make him eat. If he hasn't eaten, it's not for lack of hunger. And doing this without telling the kid... just dosing him without his knowledge is fucked up on many levels.
      And then, he's lying to them about their mother's death, and so is her family because "Suicide" is embarrassing. These people are trash.
      The only ones behaving "normally" are the kids. That doesn't mean they're doing well, but they are responding to their circumstances exactly as you would expect them to.

So many people post on the forums that Google intends to use their posts to train their AI with them. Look it up, it’s true. THAT’S how many real people users are on there posting their whole lives and life situations that come up. Plenty of real life stories come up on that platform, and plenty of users who listen to TH-cam videos go look up these posts to see if they are real or not based on the accounts that post them. Such as their other posts about other topics. So no-not a ton of these posts are not bogus because if they were-Reddit users would be all over it saying so. There are always fact checkers in the posts. If someone is posting bogus content people come out in the comments more often than not, and not just with words like “this is so fake”-but words like “I got on that subreddit listed and tried to find this and it’s not on there, so likely an AI generated story”. I watch a ton of these stories across a bunch of TH-cam accounts, and as soon as enough people pop up claiming the content isn’t on Reddit, I unsubscribe from the channel. So far, this isn’t one of those channels as far as I know right now. Matter of fact, a few times this channel has outright said the video posted was questionable as far as validity, but it was a Reddit post. But they put up a disclaimer first that some people were questioning the validity on Reddit and so this channel said so up front so that people could decide for themselves how they felt about it. That says to me that the channel is a least honest.

    Story 2. Those boys need a therapist. While he found her and has been practical about it. He delayed telling the boys until they knew something was wrong. Dismissed therapy bc it's not a quick fix, then when the boys act up (a normal grieving response) he doubles down being anti-therapy.
    Even if they're not talking, a therapist can start them with something. It may take a few sessions but it's better than OP's current effort which is basically just move on.
    After the update. The OP has zero clue what grieving means or how therapy works. He is drugging his son who is literally wasting away refusing to eat. It's not moving the goalposts, it's reevaluating. He went to a session was told it was normal grieving, needed more sessions, and he's going to post a negative review bc the single session didn't fix his son. Story 1- I'm so glad OP has her sister, because the rest of her "family" absolutely sucks and my heart hurts for her.
    Story2- i DESPISE this man and how he handles this, and hate how he is destroying his kids. He won't have sons in a few years...either they'll be dead or they'll cut all ties with him (and be better for it)
    Story3- I think he knows more than he's saying, but doesn't want to admit it. I get why OP wants to stay, but I don't think it's a good idea. And i dont think she will be able to move past this as easy as she's pretending to.

    Story 2- and now we see shy Op's ex divorced him. What a monumental ahole. And him saying he was thinking about his sons when not telling them was him thinking about HIMSELF and how this was going to upset his life.

    Story 2: The way the dad broke the news, I hope the son doesn’t think his own father killed her. Saying she was putting the gun away and it fired might’ve sounded sus to the boy, especially when it took op so long to tell them. God for all we know the story op isn’t the full truth and he did hav something to do with it. So worried for that son losing weight and the father doing nothing, fuck that guy,

    There should be a DNA archive of the children born. to avoid bad things like in the story.

    Story 3 - Not going to lie, I actually thought Op's Husband SA'd her. But after hearing how confused and guilty he was, I am beginning to think there is a 3rd person in this. They drugged the Husband's and Op's Drink, had them *whistle* with each other, and then put them in certain spots which then leads to the scenario and the story playing out. Then again, I'm probably just over thinking it.

      It's weird cos he willingly said he'd take a dna test and most of the time (or at least the stories I've heard) abusers usually deny it to as much as they can and demand the victim to drop it but he's not doing that,also op never said a drug test was done so there's a chance they were both wasted as fuck or he's acting his ass off, it's a fucked situation cos if she was truly assaulted I don't know if she can get the justice she needs

    Sounds OP’s parents died twice. Her bio parents died in a car accident, then her non bio parents died the moment Sophia showed up.

    Story 2: the father is an idiot. Therapy is not some magical fix all, cure all. They need to talk to someone to help deal with their grief or the trauma will impact them in the long run.

    Sofia in 1st story sounds amazing
    2nd story is hard. therapists could absolutely be a waste of time/money. it is absolutely dependent on the person/victim. but OP definitely shouldve at least given a therapist or 2 a proper chance on this. all you in the comments trashing that OP are being way too harsh. he is wrong, but doesnt mean he's an awful parent. chill out
    3rd story is really weird. i wanna know why exactly her twin bro didnt like her husband. did he have an idea that he's actually not such a good guy or something? or did he just find it weird that his sister was with someone they knew since kids as an older brother (like a protective brother kind of thing)
