His life really is an ideal for everyone, the way he commanded the army, saved so many lives, fought for the country, stood up for his subordinates even in front of ministers and never compromised on ethics and principles is commendable. Sam Bahadur will always be an inspiration.

He also has a wonderful sense of humor!
A legacy the present dispensation will never fathom... A Legend that still lives on ❤❤ Sam Bahadur.
Who was that legend from ur side when ur country faced humiliating defeat at the hands of China in 1962 in Sino War. I know ur government doesn't teach u much about that defeat, but educate urself before u die. Almost 100k Indian soldiers shamefully surrendered before Chinese troops.

am in love with this old man ... long live the legacy of Sam bahadur
Sam bahadur Manekshaw, a person not born everyday. The greatest general of Indian Army. Respect, honour, valour here it is. Jai hind.
A very accomplished General & Field Marshall ,A great human being and a source of inspirations to many
Salute you Field Marshall Sam Bahadur Manekshaw. Rest in Peace Sir.
Edit: Very disrespectful of the then Indian Government to not attend his funeral. As expected from the bunch of spineless
Indeed. the only politicians at the funeral were from the BJP, I think LK Advani was in attendance.
Manekshaw didn't like the Congress regime at all. In this interview it seemed like Manekshaw had good relations with Indira Gandhi, but it wasn't the case. He made her more furious day by day, he was the man who used to go by his own words, conviction and commitments adding much more to the irk of her party members.
@@prash175 he called her cooly as sweety
Manekshaw then was at a prime that they thought he would take down Indira Gandhi govt with his military coup
But he refused it as he said he is not interested in politics
See Indira Gandhi despite being like a friend him most of the times made her bitter to him
what a man! they seriously dnt make them like tht anymore!!
my idol ..greatest indian army general
Field Marshall
You are one of kind Mr. Field Marshal !! No other Sam Manekshaw will ever ever take birth on this earth. Mother India so privileged to have son like you.
Eternal legend... May this land be blessed again with this soul..!
Ommani padme hum.
What a charming personality. Really rare gem of a person. If I get even 10 percent of Sir Sam's personality, I would consider myself lucky. Amazing to see such brave men
he was 85 during this interview, yet he speaks so eloqunetly and coherently. Plus he is sitting without any discomfort. He is looking at least 10 years younger.
Field Marshal Manekshah, before partition commissioned in Frontier Force Regiment. After partition his unit was earmarked to Pakistan, and is called 6th Frontier force Regiment, which earned highest reward of Nishan e Haider ( equivalent to Victoria Cross)to late Major Shabir Sharif posthumously. On eastern front an other Frontier Force Regiment 4 FF also earned Nishan e Haider by Major Akam posthumously. This Regiment fought so bravely in Hily Secter for which said Field Marshal visited the camp of said Regiment , met officers & other ranks & gave them the title ( Tigers). Today 4 F.F. is called Tigers.
He was man of integrity & a warmhearted soldier, which is a great quality. My respect & salute to his departed soul.
I don't know why, It feels irritating when Thapar speaks and it feels so soothing when the former chief speaks
Good evening sir. I had dinner with you in 101 mess in 1065. God bless u healthy life and future.
A very informative interview. The interviewer was really good. And what can you say about the guest? A true legend. Everyone from the Indian Subcontinent should watch this interview.
" I've one wife who looks after me or at least pretends to " - witty leader.
Manekshaw : So I bent her over and thrashed her bottom...
I love how straightforward our field marshall was. No wonder, we won. No double thoughts.

Always forever in our heart.. interviewer is soooo lucky to see and talk to him
Legend from another era..!!
His life really is an ideal for everyone, the way he commanded the army, saved so many lives, fought for the country, stood up for his subordinates even in front of ministers and never compromised on ethics and principles is commendable. Sam Bahadur will always be an inspiration.
Interestingly, Manekshaw had a poor opinion of Karan Thapar's father, Gen. P.N. Thapar, who, accoring to him, lacked the courage to stand up to the political establishment, which led to India's defeat in 1962.
Do you have proof of what you say?
@@rscsingh7848 yes, he gave a speech at st. Xaviers Bombay... it's a video on TH-cam abt 51 min long
@@ShailendraSingh-pk1gf ok. Great.
@@rscsingh7848 he said that the general didnt have the guts to say that army was not ready in 1962

I wish i could have met u but 😭😭
It is a very lovely interview. for once, I'm seeing Karan Thapar being an attentive and respectful listener. FM Manekshaw comes across as a bright, very civil and refined man. Also very articulate.
