    I work in the medical field. Abortions are never a happy event. But neither is hospice care, child abuse cases or doing CPR on a small child. The reality is......... That sometimes there are no good out comes, no matter what you choose. Some times when you practice medicine, you & your patients have to make hard decisions, & abortion...is one of them.

      That's why abortion must not be off the table, regardless of how hard it is. The perils of childbirth are sometimes much harder for the mother is it is for the child to be. It's about unburdening the mother of unintended pregnancy and sparing the potential child a life of suffering when the circumstances to raise a child in an adequate hospitable environment are absent

    How many people suffer terribly for their whole life, because they were born into situations, that didn't actually provide the circumstances for it at all? And how many of them become addicts and/or commit suicide? Or simply suffer in silence until they die? It's cruel, unbelievably cruel. Don't get kids if they don't get a chance to live a mostly good life.

    • @gabrielleambrose8657
      @gabrielleambrose8657 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      I think it’s important to realize that it doesn’t matter how good someone has it, unfortunately people will suffer regardless throughout life. That’s the darkness of life. You can’t have light without darkness. It isn’t far to play the judge, jury, and executioner, leaving any unborn baby without the opportunity to become a successful being. There are no statistics on babies who could have been potentially murdered being suicidal or born into awful situations. These are not parallels. There is no question that the government needs to do more to provide resources to individuals and families to support mental wellness and development. But in the same token one could say that it is unbelievably cruel to abort a fetus (for the sake of it being inconvenient) to alleviate its potential suffering because you are also denying any potential of that child to flourish and experience the beauty and light that can also come from existence itself.

All of these statements about poverty.....drugs.....homelessness.....they automatically assume that life for a baby born in a poor home is going to, undoubtedly have a terrible life.
      Maybe these folks need to take in a different perspective....like....I dont know....love the child....its notnjust about buying them things or having a giant TV.
      The #1 most important thing you can do as a parent is love your child. Children can do without a lot of the material things we think they need amd grow up ok....love and feeling actually wanted they cannot do without.

    My grandma told me once how important it is to remember what life was like for women before abortion was legal and effective birth control was available. Women had to make horrific choices between children they couldn’t support or were unwanted and ineffective home remedies and unsafe illegal abortions. The conservatives who believe they have the right to be the moral enforcers of the US are pro birth, not pro life because they consider food assistance, adequate education and other interventions to be socialism, rather than social services that would result in healthier and more productive adults. These are the same people who are willing to commit vast resources to military spending, prisons & militarized police forces.

      @@Shine-p2u you are entitled to your opinion but it’s not ok to take the right to an opinion away from someone else because you don’t agree with their decision. This issue is so much more complex than just the right to terminate a pregnancy too. St least some of the states that have decided to outlaw abortion are also making the morning after pill illegal and petitioning neighboring states to uphold the abortion laws of a woman’s home state and threatening medical providers & women with criminal charges & jail time! Not to mention that unfortunately the issue isn’t just whether or not women have the right to terminate a pregnancy but apparently states with abortion bans have interpreted ‘abortion’ to include the medical procedures to help a woman survive following the spontaneous death of a pre-term fetus that doesn’t naturally expel or a mother and viable fetus survive the death of one fetus from a set of twins. Yes abortion is something that everyone has strong emotional and moral feelings about. It is ok to not believe abortion is moral and that you would never get one but we can’t know what circumstances exist to cause a woman to contemplate such a personal & painful decision. I can almost guarantee that the majority of women who have terminated a pregnancy didn’t do it because they wanted to, and certainly didn’t feel good about it. I would even argue that many of them may have even told themselves they would never make that choice until they found themselves in circumstances they never imagined. I expect many of them mourn the child and will remember the loss for the rest of their life but for many different complicated and personal reasons they didn’t feel like they had any other option. The morning after pill isn’t always an option, what if someone is using a birth control method and it unexpectedly fails or someone can’t get to a pharmacy or clinic in the right window of time? I wish all pregnancies were wanted & all children were born healthy into functional & loving families and no woman ever had to make what may very well be the most difficult & painful decision of her life but that isn’t how life works and it is unacceptable for anyone to think they have the right to make that decision for anyone else.

      So do you think there are no resources to help pregnant women and unwanted pregnancies. There are foundations and associations that are always receiving donations quite literally everywhere. And if you are unable to find those resources locally, I’m sure you could travel somewhere or move where those resources are readily available. Why should we get to assign value to life based off economic or mental reasons. It’s selfish and dehumanizing. Imagine your a mother of 3 and you lost your job. Should you be able to kill one of your children so you can make more money. Most coherent and normal people would say no. So how is this any different inside the womb. Why should we kill humans because they might potentially have a hard or difficult life financially. This is a product of laziness and our generation is constantly putting themselves before anyone else. If we keep living with this mindset, I’m afraid we’re down a terrible path as Americans. We need to understand the consequences of our actions and accept them. Murdering humans should never be the answer to economic or mental issues.

The abortion was emotionally disturbing because I wanted it but really no way to take care of it (very young and one night stand). The miscarriage was the most emotional disturbing. I was in Romania in 1990 when after 25 arduous years of oppression, the notoriously cruel and murderous dictator Ceaușescu was deposed as the people revolted. The world was horrified by the images that emerged from the countless orphanages, overflowing with babies and children, many of whom were infected with HIV/AIDS. Crammed into rusty, cage-like cots, the hollow eyed victims of a tyrannical ban on contraception and abortion, told of their desperate hunger, not only for nourishment, but also medicines, attention and love. An eerie silence echoed the would-be cries, that these victims of one man's campaign of terror, knew would go unanswered. Many had parents who were unable to feed their existing brood. Condemned to an existence knowing only suffering and pain, Ceausescu's children saw their mothers die, forced to seek dangerous illegal back street abortions. Driven into abject poverty, families knew their daughters faced the same perilous fate. We ignore history at our own peril. There's no reason why the consequences of America's war on female bodily autonomy should turn out any differently. They need to heed the warning and stand together now, before it's too late and the world turns their backs on a nation, too afraid to stand up for what is right for this generation and the many yet to come.

    Some years back, I had a dream which still haunts me.
    In the dream, abortion was completely outlawed in my state, Kentucky--no exceptions, not even health reasons. In fact, in the dream, any pregnant person with a life-threatening complication was required to receive end-of-life care in hospice until the baby was born or until the pregnant person died, whichever came first.
    The dream played out in part like a television news report, and the focus was on a 10-year-old rape victim who was heavily pregnant. She was a tiny, blonde-haired girl who could barely carry the extra weight. She knew that she wouldn't survive childbirth. She kept saying, in tears, that she didn't want to die.
    I have since written a poem about this, called "The Little Madonna."
    I dare someone to brush this off as a "false narrative." Far from. It's already happened, far too many times. While it's unlikely that anyone will spend their pregnancy in hospice (as if the politicians putting bans in place would actually care that much 😒), there will be far too many people lost to abortion restrictions, many of whom are children who will meet the same fate as the little girl in my dream. Abortion bans will cost more lives than they will save, and no one seems to understand that.

    • @thrillyria
      @thrillyria หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @ruaraidh74 Problem is, abortion is used for many reasons and is needed. When a pregnancy is terminated at late stage, it is very rarely to a never something that the expectant mother wants to do. At that stage they're already expecting to start a life with a newborn. It is done because it needs to be done. For medical reasons.
      Abortion is a procedure that is also used in cases where there's complications to the pregnancy, a miscarriage or previously performed abortion. In these cases it's also medically needed to prevent further damage. In some states delay of care due to uncertainty of how the law will treat healthcare professionals and if they'll be able to definitively prove that the mother's life is in dangerous, has already caused irreparable damage.
      Some states also have no exceptions for rape, incest or underaged pregnancies. So children who have experienced a massive trauma now have to continue experiencing the trauma of a pregnancy that is in no way wanted or that they're ready for. Did you know that children as young as 9 or 10 years old can be fertile? Thus at this moment, a 9 year old can be forced to carry out a pregnancy that was caused by her own family member raping her. You're just cool with that?
      Abortion is also needed when the fetus is found to be deformed and to have no chance of living after birth. It is also used in cases where parents find out that the child's life would be likely very short and sickly. The US healthcare and social service system isn't good enough to help everyone. Some people lack the insurance and resources to survive circumstances like these. Until a better and more affordable security network for cases like these is established, it is nothing but cruel to demand people to face a financial and personal ruin for something that will always be deemed to live a painful and short life. Remember, these people also most likely wanted the pregnancy.
      Cruel is also forcing the underaged children to risk their lives and suffer huge trauma. Cruel is telling others that abortion is something people just do on a whim because they want to. Majority of abortions are not done because they're wanted. They're done because they're needed.

    None of this really matters at the end of the day. It’s a black and white issue. Either it is a human baby in the womb, in which case abortion is murder, or it’s not a baby and women can do what they want. Mental health of the woman, the child’s chances of a happy life, etc are all ridiculous arguments intended to distract from the fact that science tells us it is a human baby and therefore should be entitled to human rights.
    To all you pro choicers, try to refute my argument without bringing up some other emotionally appeasing side argument like the examples I gave. That’s right, you can’t because it’s true. A baby is a an independent human life from the moment of conception. You don’t get to kill other kids or adults because they are living a bad life or someone else’s mental health is at stake.

The fetus is completely dependent on its mother and is part of the woman’s body via the umbilical cord until it is born.
      All that being said, a fully developed human should have the right to decide what happens over a fetus.
      I’ll pose this question to you: Is it murder to pull the plug on a family member who’s attached to a machine at the hospital? My answer is quite obviously NO, and the same logic should apply to abortion.

    Abortion is the termination or intentional causing of death of an unborn child in utero. It is requested by the mother or parent of an underage female. I'm not sure why the mothers or women who are for the death of their own offspring always have forums to justify and persuade others into thinking that abortion is acceptable just because the child is developing in her body? Abortion by any other name is murder of one's child. I know people who were molested and got pregnant by step fathers or from rape. They carried the child and love the child or gave it up for adoption. I know women who have had abortions and are now unable to have children or suffer from depression because they know that they killed their own child. Reasons given to justify like rape, incest or medically necessary abortions for atopic pregnancy are a very low rate. Let's just be honest. Many women don't have abortions for medical necessity. If there's something wrong and the baby isn't viable, a miscarriage will occur. Many women have abortions because they simply don't want the child. There is no law or medical facility with the acception of an abortion center that will refuse medical care for a woman after having an abortion, so that is a lie. Abortion is like any other decisions in life. If a woman has an abortion, it is a personal choice that she will have to live with for the rest of her life, but don't try to pull others into thinking it's ok. If I kill an innocent adult, I will go to jail. If a person kills a woman who is pregnant, they are charged for both deaths.

      I'm glad you agree that it is a personal choice. I will also acknowledge that abortion involves the killing of human life.
      If the woman can live with it depends on her beliefs and values. For some it is not a big deal. Religion can be a risk factor, though.
      In my country, abortion is legal up to week 12 after the last period and it is best to act as swiftly as possible to catch the new life at an early stage.

      A baby is a very young child, especially an infant. A developing cell group ie: blastocyst, zygotes, 16mm embryo, and a semi-formed fetus or deceased fetus, are not infants/babies or fully developed people. Developing cells are alive, but have no personhood - especially if this developing cell group are using a host body to survive at the host's expense. It is better to terminate unwanted/unplanned pregnancy as soon as possible. Mifepristone is no different in effect than a miscarriage (spontaneous abortion). The only difference between miscarriage and medically induced abortion is choice and the host organism has a right to make that choice. The above statistics are world wide, and only increases when abortion is made illegal. A sensible option would be a 12-15 week window and/or immediate intervention if the mother's life is endangered. More education and access to contraception for both males and females is needed for prevention. The anti-abortionists want to control women's choices for full bodily autonomy via disingenuous tactics and illogical arguments. I don't have a right to use one of your kidney's without your consent and neither does a group of developing cells have a right to use a host body without the host's consent. There are thousands of miscarriage occurring world wide and 1st trimester abortions aren't much different. If you take away choice then it becomes coercion and a form of forced birth and the outcomes of said coercion and forced birth are generally poor, in spite of the rose-tinted glass stories that get bandied about by pro-lifers. Generally, anti-abortion arguments are from those who never have to face the difficult choice or procedures or the life-long genetic connection to unwanted off-spring.

      @Paraphrase1-Z9 don't attempt to condescend to me. I know what a fetus in utero means. Incidentally, in Latin it me unborn child or the developmental stages of a human in utero. At what point do you think a woman is carrying a human? Is it at or after birth because Democrats want to kill it then as well. You can mix words and justify any action that you may have taken but ultimately, a woman is carrying her offspring and if it the pregnancy is terminated by any other means unless the mother is in mortal danger is murder. Make yourself feel better with your long diatribe, it is still murder. If an assailant kills a pregnant woman and both die, it is ruled as double murder or homicide; depending on the extenuating circumstances. Your conscious and your logic doesn't a thing.

You’re imagining a “human”; what you actually have is a potential human, a maybe baby, IF the pregnancy progresses instead of miscarrying as 25% of pregnancies do.

    If you are PRO LIFE: In places where abortion is illegal, the rate of abortions is HIGHER and mothers die between 5-13% of the time getting these abortions. So the end result is MORE PEOPLE DIE when abortion is illegal. And the ways they die are HORRIBLE. Perhaps, after all this arguing, we should address what causes people to want abortions in the first place. If we fixed that, I bet you abortion would drastically drop. This is a REAL solution we do NOT have to argue about.

      @thejabberwocky2819 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @zackt3904 Ways you failed to understand the analogy:
      1. She is. By virtue of how biology works, no woman can choose to become pregnant. She can only choose to engage in activities that have a low chance of resulting in it. This means that a woman who becomes pregnant, doesn't want to continue to be, and is forced against her will to remain so, is by definition forced into the union.
      2. Irrelevant, these rights work the same regardless of the relationship between the two people. It could literally be a parent and child in my example. And the law and rights involved would PERMIT THAT PARENT to disconnect. There are literally legal precedents establishing this in similar scenarios.
      3. Abortion is the option not to save. At its core the procedure is a disconnection and removal from the womb. It's a fact of biology that the child will die outside the womb if it isn't viable, so instead of allowing it to die slowly and inhumanely we euthanize it. We don't do this for people in need of organ transplant, because up until they die there's a chance another donor can be found. There is no such option for a pregnant woman. Abortion is the same thing as choosing not to donate blood or organs to save someone, it should be based on the same rights.
      Your unwillingness to engage honestly with the hypothetical isn't surprising, most forced birthers become cowardly when defending their beliefs.

      Over 90% of abortions occur in the first trimester...... Do you have any idea how big a 12 week or younger embryo is???? The size of a grain of rice up to about 2 1/2 inches long.
      2nd trimester abortions involve delivering the fetus feet first, an incision is made into the skull and the contents evacuated, which shrinks the size of the head. They do not "crush" the skull. A fetal skull is not fused and solid like an older child's---> adult's skull. Dismemberment is not performed, if at all, anymore due to the inherent risks involved. 5 to 6% of all abortions are done this way. Many of these are performed due to fetal anomalies.
