Bruce Lee is EXTREMELY fast. To the untrained eye, the fight scene between Bruce Lee and O’Hara doesn’t look like much, but this classic fight scene is a nice demonstration of Bruce Lee’s Wing Chun.
The two Wing Chun techniques we went over in this breakdown are called “Jut Sau” and “Lap Sau.”
So glad someone finally did this breakdown! I only noticed how complex this very short fight scene was a few years ago after slowing it down and noticing how many steps were actually included -- the blocks, grabs, and counters.
A lot of people always talk about the Bruce vs Chuck fight, but the O'Hara fight was a masterful display of both skill and speed by both men. It's something only two accomplished martial artists could pull off convincingly and at that speed without injuring one another.
While I always enjoyed Bruce's films, it was this scene in particular that made me finally understand the complexity of the martial arts he was demonstrating. Glad you guys did a video on it!
Thank you for slowing it down for us he's too damn fast. The cameras was modified to slow down his moves and yet his hands are still a blurr
I've watched this scene several times, and the first hit deals with simple touch. The minute O'HARA went wrist to wrist with Bruce, in Wing Chun, it sent off triggers to the body detecting movement and Wing Chun definitely reacts off muscle reflex. The minute O'Hara made his move, it immediately sent it to Bruce, and he reacted like you see her

Awesome
I just learned something new. Never saw that Bruce Lee grabbed his arm on that scene because it was so fast.
Same ,did not pay much attention to it
Me neither
Bruce Lee was a great martial artist and action movie great....and that is it
Of course he did. How else could have came into him
@@jimdelaney-4703 you're asking me as if I'm some kind of Wing Chun Master. I know nothing about Kung Fu, dude. So yeah, I didn't see the move in that movie scene.
But, now I know. And knowing is half the battle! 😅😂😂
Any time Fattah teaches us something, I feel like I get 10% cooler by proxy.
Confirmed. You just got 10% cooler.
"Needs to be at least...20% cooler."
Agreed
You speak no lies. We are all for sure 10% cooler.
@@ScenicFightsYou Got Mad Skills
Bruce Lee showed us this in the 70s in a movie and we’re still talking about it, imagine if he lived to be a grand master and gave seminars throughout his life.
It's the equivalent to Leonardo Da Vinci, Airplane drawings... and his theory on flight. I remember this discussion in Airforce Rotc in 9th grade back in 95-96. We should be at least 300 more years advance in aviation because of him.
@@77grtx8htc1pChuck Norris got choked out by Gracie
If he had lived 40 more years, I'd bet my house and retirement that his seminars and demonstrations, and the things he would teach, would be a far cry, and look completely different, from what he was teaching in the 60s and early 70s.
This fight is a movie.... but this is a real punch!
@@mattjack3983Agreed. Bruce Lee would have kept adapting over time, even to techniques developed in response to him.
This is why we need Fattaah! His understanding of Chinese martial arts is well demo’d
Happy Birthday to The Dragon!
Happy Birthday to the legend, Bruce Lee!
Oh crap! It was just Nov. Happy birthday, little dragon.
Happy belated BL. Sag rules!
Some of my wing tsun trainers back in the days Always said
"Jut sao, Lap sao, pak sao and the enemy is f*cked sao"
Bruce Lee’s sheer speed and mastery of his art will always impress me.
He wasn't a master tho
He was only a SIFU at best.
@@jacobharris954Bruce was on a quest to self mastery. Not mastery of any particular art form.
@@Quantum3691Do you think Bruce mixed martial arts?😅
@@jagger_claw Bruce was all about principles. But most consider him to be the promoter of MMA. He was the first ever martial artist to feature kicking, punching, and grappling, in two of his movies.
Thanks for breaking this down. One of the most iconic scenes ever done by Bruce Lee
Both actors sold the scene very well.
Bob Wall was simply tremendous with his reactions.
Bruce hit him by mistake once during that scene and he buckled. His body guard. Bruce was more than actor
@@warriorclassmediahe was a martial artists sure but he was not a fighter
@@littlesword3 I agree with you he was not a fighter because he would probably hurt or kill someone if he got pushed into a fight there's a difference in sports and real life hey he was so fast and powerful that he would just kick ass and if you look it up about all the professional kickboxing and MMA. Most of them say he would beat the hell out of all of them
Happy 83rd birthday to the Master Bruce Lee. Thank you for inspiring me... Thank you for your wisdom.
Finally i found the best slow explanation to the thunder fast movements
I watched this movie more than 30 times and still didn’t realize the details, Bruce Lee greater than i expected.
Hard to be any cooler than Bruce Lee! 🐉
And yet Fattaah does it
Damn…I’ve seen Enter the Dragon a hundred times, but only after watching this did I learn what Bruce actually did. He was so fast I never saw it.
This is damn incredible because i can't count how many times i saw this fight scene and didn't notice any of this. I never saw Bruce lee grabbed nor pulled Ohara's arm at any time during that fight scene. Damn Bruce was so extremely FAST!
The man was so fast he was frequently told to slow down because the cameras couldn’t keep up
This is the best demonstration I've seen
"This beautiful scene, is what got me into Wing Chun"
I agree. Beautiful scene. Bruce Lee was amazing and ahead of the times.
Had to watch this twice. I was focused on Sifu Lee the first time. Second time It was all you, thank you for the breakdown.
Sifu Lee was extremely fast wasn’t he? We even slowed down some of the footage to capture his movement and it was still a blur.
@@ScenicFights when I was a kid with the movie VHS copy recorded off the TV I remember pressing pause so many times to see if I can see how it was done but I could not lol. I own the DVD now but never tried to slow it down because "Don't focus on the finger or you will miss all the heavenly glory".
Bruce Lee is one of the most amazing people ever created.
Thank you Bruce Lee for all you did for the Martial Arts!
Bruce Lee is SO FAST, you can even see his other hand grabbing. All these years most people only saw his punching hand and not the secondary
Exactly, because I didn't see it till he paused.
Hell yeah, always here for a Fattah breakdown
I love Bruce and this scene. I never understood what he did until now 🙏
Dam.i didn't know Bruce Lee had him finished from the break
Did he did the motion capture for the Leroy smith in tekken 7?
I love the gratitude he gave to Bruce Lee at the end. Nice 💪🏽
Finally! after so many years someone finally breaks down this scene in great detail thanks man.
Bruce Lee did dat move so fast it made me jump.didnt kno he grabbed the arm. Didn't even notice.
Did't even see Bob Wall's/Ohara's 2 blocks either!
I genuinely appreciate this "technical explanation" of this classic sequence from "Enter The Dragon"!
After 30 years of watching Enter the Dragon I've never noticed this.
I absolutely love the breakdown and respect to Bruce Lee in this. Beautiful explanation by Fattaah
For 30 years i never noticed him pulling opponent with another hand. WOW !
Amen! Thank you, Bruce Lee! And thank you, Scenic Fights for these awesome videos.
And thank you for being a supporter of the channel! It means a lot to us Stephen!
There are great things in a lot of traditional martial arts that are rarely used or overlooked but can be very useful.
Hey thanks for the clip that was cool 🇩🇴🇵🇷🏇🏼
Thank you Sifu,
I have always wanted to know what that exchange was about in more detail. I greatly appreciate your insight and provided clarification.
You onto something Boss. Im 42, and have seen this movie plenty of times. I've never seen anyone on TH-cam break this down, I never knew he was pulling the other guy into him, and also blocking. Keep the content coming, this was enjoyable to watch....
Thank you so much for the awesome comment!
Now this is a technical breakdown
Bruce Lee is still inspiring people even after these past 50 years, Bruce's character, style & sheer determination to succeed in martial arts has most definitely given budding martial artists a barometer to measure one's skills. Thank you Bruce Lee, for your incredible energy & contribution, gone but not forgotten. 🙏🙂🈲☯️
True genius Bruce Lee❤❤❤ a movie we watch so much but never studied it
Wing Chun is a lot more dangerous than people think. It is a great martial art
That scene was one of the best in that movie in my opinion that I repeat it over and over just to watch it it’s so beautiful to watch thank you for showing how he did it bc I love that scene then the sound effect to top it off omg
Bruce Lee Was Serious. I Love Him Forever 💞
This was the greatest and most fascinating scene ever recorded! I could watch this 100 times in a row without losing enthusiasm.
He was a great actor!!! Loved his movies.
Thank you for taking the time.... Have a nice day!
Thank you Master Lee for all you done for me personally for introducing me to wing chun and J.KD. and your wisedom.
And thank you MASTER FOR CLEARING IT OUT
One of "THEE" best scenes in the movie 🤜🏿
So many advantages to techniques like these. Taking away your opponent's guard. Taking him off balance. The force of pulling him into your strike. Frustrating him so he makes mistakes. Wow. I love Martial Arts so very much.
Hey yo! Nice! Cover more of the classics please.
Which other classic fight scenes would you like to see us breakdown?
@@ScenicFights Would love to see you breakdown any of the fight scenes from the HK classic 'The Prodigal Son' (1981). It's a classic HK martial art movie, which showcases Wing Chun at its essence and I'm sure Fattah (and everyone else) would enjoy it. 😊
@@ScenicFights Once Upon a Time in China 2 would be dope. Ditto Iron Monkey.
The pulling motion, allows for more impact and resists the opportunity to block or retreat. Thus the defense becomes the greater offense. Well done teacher. I have been made wiser for your instruction.
What happens when they just shoot a takedown instead, or clinches, or leg kicks
I seen this movie in the 70's as a kid and im just learning the exact move that he did....DAMN HE WAS UNBELIEVABLE FAST
I never saw Bruce Lee trapping O’Hara by the arm when I originally watched this. Amazing speed
Every true student of Bruce Lee will become a teacher. Thank you Sifu👑👑🐉🐲
Amazing video and content!!! Happy Birthday to the legend Bruce Lee!
Bruce Lee will be forever the greatest. Many Many Many Debates over decades and decades to come, but his name will always come up...
Thanks for the breakdown of this iconic scene!👍
Glad that you broke it down my brutha because Bruce Lee used to move so fast a lot of times all you only get to see is the last punch 👊🏾.
I remember as a kid in the seventies watching his movies at the drive-in.
One of the best to ever do it rest in peace Bruce Lee. 🙏🏽
Saw this part thousands of times, I’m still amazed by the scene.
Wow that was pretty, I would have never seen all those details without this dude..
Let's talk about that powerhouse sidekick, He gave ohara at the end,
I like how Bruce Lee uses real body mechanics on how the person will react to his punches.
I did not realize he was doing that! Thanks for breaking it down.👍
The skill and speed with which Lee executed those movement was beautiful.
I’m so glad you broke this down bc I’ve been wondering how the hell he hit O’Hara that 3rd time for years
Thank you...great explanation and demonstrstion..Slo-mo and fast mode make it great explanation.
Mechanicaly speaking, pulling opponent into the punch seriously increases the power of a good punch.
Thank you for giving props to Wing Chun
Did you notice as he was moving for the backfist after the feint he chopped O'Hara's right arm before the last pulling attack. His speed was insane.
He is the true master I have studied his philosophy for over 30 years and have seen a lot of martial artists but none even close! I enjoy those moves very much you wouldn't believe how much they work over and over.
Can you guys breakdown Bruce Leroy Vs Sho'Nuff?
Only if you can tell us "Who's the Master?"
I swear I've been watching too much UFC because when I saw "Bruce Leroy," my immediate reaction was, "Alex Caceres?!" Took me like 10 seconds afterwards to remember The Last Dragon.
Yes yes please give a complete breakdown on, "Playtime's Over Boy!"
SO ICONIC!!!
@@jamesgreen1284 "mutha fugga lemme go!!
....Yeeeeaaah
I couldn't explain it better. Very good 👍🏾 👏🏾 😊
I remember watching this at 1/16 speed so I could see what he actually did. He moved to quickly for the camera to track in real time, and I knew he did more but all I saw was a blur.
Just blew my mind! I always thought he was just hitting him really fast! Thanks for breaking this down. I appreciate the choreography alot more now!
I've watched that 100 times in slow motion. Most beautiful display to me, and thanks for the breakdown. Knew Bruce was the truth since I was a young child
Thank you for sharing that👍👍🤙
Loved the way you broke that down
This guy is SO COOL. Fascinating lesson, thank you! Wow I’m glad I found this channel!
I’m glad you found us! Make sure to subscribe and share our channel your friends. What other fight scenes we should breakdown next?
Thank you for this I have watched this fight scene countless times since 1987 I've always been fascinated with it and Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris fight on return of the dragon man theirs so much to be learned from these Bruce's fight scenes
Thanks for breaking that down for us, brother. Master Lee was too fast for the cameras back then.😂👍🏿
I just got chill bumps, I watched this back in the early 2000's. You have to watch it in slow motion, cause it's impossible to see with the naked eye, and you will think it was the left hand with the sound effects. But it's the right back hand. Simply amazing
I remember my older cousin got me into liking Bruce Lee. Bruce was extremely talented.
Bruce kicked that dude's butt in that movie. Classic!
Very well explained. Bruce was a master indeed with great speed.
Yes it was!
So Incredible. Ive watched that sequence 1000 times!!!
Damn i had to replay this multiple times to understand it
Respect
Bruce Lee inspired me to the martial arts life
Love the explanation & breakdown!
Bruce Lee was the master. So fast not even those cameras could really catch the essence of his moves. What a legend
Thank you Sifi for that demo❤
Daaammmnnn😮, Bruce did it so fast I honestly didn't see it till he paused it.
Nicely done on that fight scene breakdown 😎👍
That was FAST
The elevator scene & Chinese connection is what got me into WC🙏🏾👑🤴🏾
You must of been the guy to train Leroy Smith from Tekken.
Thx brucelee ❤
Great breakdown. Thank you so much!
